chapelle show at the time bill burr was bubbling bill burr was bubbling he wasn't
damn say that 10
times fast huh no the reason why i'm saying that yeah no disrespect he was
bubbling yeah you saw
him in the club he was like you go to see certain clubs and you're like this
this month was gonna
blow this month was gonna blow but he didn't have the the tv and all that but
you know it was coming
right and we were doing chapelle show we were making money spell show but not a
lot of money
we needed a tour i came up with the idea of doing i'm rich tour yeah you know
what i'm saying and the
rich bitch tour the two draws at the time with me and charlie and i could have
ran with that i could
have went somebody local but i said nah bill burr is an animal let's not just
do a show people coming
for the novelty of the show yeah let's give them a show where this show is fire
from beginning to end
and that's what we had i'm rich bitch tour i think this is the first time bill
burr was we we ran this
for like a year and a half charlie murphy with um mc bill burr you know you
know this is funny bill
burr was a feature wow and i was headlining and i'm telling you you know you're
talking about no
excuses imagine going on every night for a year behind bill burr that there was
no day you could
take off yeah you didn't have a you go out and party get all up you got a hangover
the next day guess what's gonna happen and this happened to me a couple times
like yeah he was
funny with that white boy you know what i'm saying and the point i'm making is
he knew his future
future because me and charlie was on i'm rich with charlie murphy all this yeah
it was just
it was pandemonium but bill burr was the one with the comment cards you know i'm
saying filling them
out the emails i'm like yo you worry about the email people gonna be coming to
see us forever
he was a dude that was doing the email card and he started building that base
yeah he started building
that base and then when you start building that base people start riding with
you and then you
be and then you win uh uh uh uh like comedian of the year in in the in the in
the montreal comedy
festival you're going to build to that point he knew what he wanted early on a
lot of people don't
kevin hart as much as people want to talk about kevin hart kevin hart was the
same situation kevin
hart was always down with whatever the newest thing was was myspace right
twitter i remember kevin hart
had 60 000 followers on twitter and he was trying like yo i can get you some
followers now that dude's out of
out of he's he just on another level he's a rock star but he planted that and
like you were saying
about waiting for the networks they didn't wait those people didn't wait so by
the time the networks
got caught up to them they was already they was already ready they was already
ready you know what
i'm saying and that's what you said is important you know what i'm saying but
like a lot of times
in this business we want to swing for the gate all the time yeah sometimes a
base hit is good
yeah sometimes a bun is good but you got to know that yeah and that's what
separates to different
people now you look at bill burr i look at bill burr 13 years ago best he was
um he was a opening on our
show and now this is doing doing madison square garden and this is another
thing how stuff supposed
to inspire you i see that i know how funny i know how funny he is but it gives
you a sense of know that
you're from a place where it could happen right you know i'm saying you look at
bill burr he's like
this dude we were doing the same club it could happen who's going to put the
work one of the funniest
comedians around and i mean this uh one of my top favorite comedians if not my
favorite comedian
doing it today uh he could be uh and honestly just one of my all-around
favorite people love the guy
he's always all smiles he's such a great guy he got bill burr so married on
time oh bill used to get so
mad beautiful thing about bill burr but we'd be snapping bill bill was the guy
that's not funny
if you went after him it's not none of it's funny y'all laughing if you build
like where's the punch line
in it there's no punch line he would get so mad we the comedy cellar the days
that we had there man
bill burr patrice o'neill keith robinson jim norton colin quinn myself um when
i say we would sit at
this table we would sit at this table for four to five hours and it would be
nothing but beautiful
trash-ins that long ago i don't believe you i swear to god in my life good
there we go um
i i was a little bit down about whatever in my life and my career my showtime
special had come out
on showtime i didn't wasn't getting a ton of traction didn't get a lot of ad
space showtime
didn't really advertise it except for on their network i was bummed about it i
was sad i also like
was anxious about the special i was like i hate that i fucking hate that joke i
was ripping myself to
shreds and i had a little bit of support from the comedy community but you know
to each their own
but i got a bing on my phone and i read the text and i went on my patio and i
swear to god i cried
because it was from bill burr and he just said saw your shit you fucking killed
it keep doing your
thing and it i swear to god it meant so much to me because it was just him
being nice and recognizing
an accomplishment and it wasn't anything more than that and that really did
mean a lot to me because
i respect him and i love him are you sleeping

he did
that you should check out he had a new sponsor called nature's box and it's a
subscription service
for food where they're like each day they deliver to your office it's a box of
like nature's goodness
so he starts doing the read and then he goes wait i want to see what's in this
and he starts breaking
down the items in there and then he just did a 180 and started trashing this
thing and saying do you
see this that's in here he's like drink a bottle of water uh go get a salad get
an apple he's like
why are you eating this and whatever and then the next week comes back and he
goes well like we
expected we're no longer advertised by uh nature's box what is he doing you're
supposed to that's why
we love him get in there that's why we love him bill is great man but that's
like that group like you
know bobby and burr and like those guys that like uh especially for me being a
younger comic coming up like
they terrify you and you're also such a big fan yeah that it's like this like
honest you know
you have to be honest around those guys oh yeah yeah yeah because there's just
no
bullshit a mile away and will
fucking hammer you which is what patrice was the best yes of course and it was
like you know king
but it was like those guys it's that group of guys where you're like all right
there's no
bullshit nope you can't you can't fake your way through it with those guys they'll
fucking call you out i mean bobby does it when i'm on the phone with them mid-conversation
dude what the did you just say what what and i'll be like ah okay is that the
way you think you're
supposed to talk oh i gotcha yeah all right oh that was fantastic what a what a
gem that is
