I wrote this melody in my studio
So I could play the tune just for you
And I'm excited but devastated
Cause just existing leaves me tired and bruised
I don't know what life is
Don't know what art is for
But I can understand singing the blues
Cause mellow music makes me feel better
It changes everything except my mood
When I was sixteen
I was so cynical
I wasn't lyrical because it was lame
I was restricted but overrated
And now I'm nervous that it's still the same
If I am insecure
It's because I'm sure
I have lost my chance to win this lame game
So I'll continue
Without the ingenue
I.e. the patriarchy in my brain
I watch the squirrels outside my window
I watch the squirrels outside my window
They seem to understand what I never could
They sleep together
Outside in any weather
And spend their days playing and looking for food
Are they OK now in midwinter
Do some of them not make it through
I like my comforts
And my shower
But they might separate me from the truth
I like my comforts and I'm sure I can't do it
I like my comforts and I'm sure I can't do it
I like my comforts and I'm sure I can't do it
There are beings who live inside of me
I should probably give them names
Dennis is the dog who never works
He's really, really badly behaved
Leslie is my genius
When I ignore her she slips away
Margaret is my mother
She shines her love in my soul every day
Man o no no worry
Man o no worry
Man o no worry
Man o no no worry
Man o no worry
Man o no no worry
Man o no no worry
Man o no no worry
Man o no no worry
