I know, I guess you guys have heard about the Don Henley, the legal pad.
Good morning, Phil!
Yeah, how are you?
You guys have heard about Don Henley's...
How can we help you today?
Legal issues.
What legal issues?
Are we talking about...
Don Henley and his, you know, the legal pads and stuff.
Alright, what is the case?
Well, he's suing this guy because supposedly he had his legal pad stolen with
all his lyrics,
the Eagles lyrics on there and the guy says that no, Don gave them to him.
I'm a little nervous to just even bring it up just because of what's now on the
news and the litigation and all that.
But, you know, I got a legal pad that Don gave me some years ago.
Oh, no.
I mean, it's really interesting.
How do you know Don? Why would Don do this? Do you have a relationship with Don
Henley?
No, I just met him. He was at a bar.
I guess he'd had a few drinks and he said, because just like he did this guy.
If you read the article, he just gave these to this guy.
He gave me one too and I said, "Hey, you want to take a look at it?"
I said, "Yes, sure."
I mean, but these are, I don't know if these songs were ever published or
anything.
The ink looks very fresh.
Alright, Phil. Well, good luck to you.
And do, I'm sorry, did you want to highlight any of these or what?
Well, I mean, I could read, there's like, there's one that's called, "We're the
Eagles."
I guess he wrote like in the early '70s or something.
It says, "We're the Eagles. What can we say? We're a rock and roll band and
folks hear us play.
My name's Don and I play drum. Everyone else in the band likes to strum.
Felder Frey, Meisner and Ledin play guitar. Then Bernie poured beer on Glen in
a bar.
We're the Eagles. What can we say? We're a rock band and folks hear us play."
And then the chorus repeats again, "We're the Eagles. What can we say?"
And that's kind of the end of that.
You know what's odd about that? I don't know what, I can't remember the years,
the timeline here, but you know,
they're actually called just Eagles. They're not called the Eagles. They're
just called Eagles. Look it up.
Well, maybe that's why he didn't publish it, but he wrote "We're the Eagles." I
don't know.
Can we take his eyebrows off?
Oh, yeah. Let's take Phil's eyebrows. Everyone, please take Phil's eyebrows off,
please, as soon as possible.
Please don't do that.
All right. I'm not surprised that Don Henley's not suing you because those
lyrics don't seem too, you know, too valuable to him.
Well, there's another one called "No ID."
I bet there is.
This one called "No ID" is kind of an interesting song he wrote in 1980.
Now, let me ask you a question here. You've got one legal pad.
Yeah.
And the first page is lyrics from 1971. The second page is lyrics from 1980.
Interesting. Well traveled. Well traveled.
They just like tore out the pages in between. Like, it makes sense.
Maybe. Any evidence of that?
There's like a grocery list on here. I mean, it jumps around in a bunch of
different stuff.
I didn't realize that.
It says, "No ID. No ID. Ain't gonna check for no ID. ID is for the fuzz. That's
what I say. I just want a good buzz. Don't care your age. No ID. No ID. Ain't
gonna check for no ID.
Hey, babe. Got some drugs. Send them my way. Keep your ID. Showing it is for
squares.
Is for what?
Keep it a secret. See if I care. No ID. No ID. And it kind of goes on like that.
That's horrible.
Yeah.
All right. Thanks, everybody. Take the trash out. Don't forget to take the
trash out.
Bye.
Bye.
