Bnny, Phil Braun (Episode 310)

I like having fun, I like to laugh, I like to meet people who can make me laugh,
I like
having fun, yes I like to laugh, I like having fun to meet people who laugh.
Morning everybody, oh I could be this guy today, Mr. Mr. Carlin is it time to
start the show?
Yes, action.
Okay, hi everybody, Tim Heidecker here, I'm going to speak up here in the back
of my throat,
I'm going to be kind of talking like this, Brett Stevens is here, nothing, who's
here?
Brett Stevens is here, Brett Stevens is here, who's here, Brett Stevens is here,
everybody
out there watching, who's here, let me hear ya, Matt open up all the lines on
zoom, open
them all up, who's here, hey guys, Jeremy Renner, I asked you, you're on zoom
right now, who the
hell is here, Brett Stevens is here, whatever, Jesus.
That's right, it's Tuesday, it's two for Tuesday, it's taco Tuesday, it's two
for Tuesday, depending
on what radio station you grew up listening to, I listened to WZZO in Allentown,
Lehigh Valley,
right Vic, that's right, 95.1, the Bear Man and Keith, we had Bear Man and
Keith, looking
back on Bear Man and Keith, my lord were they bad guys, bad bad guys, racist to
the core,
God, I saw, I ran into Bear Man one time at McDonald's, I was in the drive thru,
I shouted
out the window, Bear Man, you're the best, I love you, I don't know why,
because I don't
even really like him.
He has to be dead, right?
Oh, he's gone, yeah, they did a big tribute to the Bear Man.
The Bear Man.
Is that what that show is about?
The Bear, yes, it's about the Bear Man, made by Keith.
We've got a terrific show lined up, we're on Tuesday, because I'm heading down
Nashville,
tomorrow night, to do a bunch of shows at Americana Fest, and guess who's going
to be on
the bill with me, not only Matty Diaz, who we've talked about on the show, and
I'm looking
forward to meeting, and we've been trying to get her on the show, Swamp Dog is
going to be
there, Ellie's going to be playing with me, I've decided, made a big decision.
Now I'm going to decide.
To have her along?
No, no, no, no.
She's also doing Waxahachie down there, and so she's going to do a duet with me,
she's going
to be playing the bass with me, bass and acoustic guitars, not always your, we'll
see how it
goes.
I think this is going to be great.
Singing with me, of course.
Acoustic bass.
No.
Oh, shit.
Gotta get one of those ovation acoustic bass.
It'll have like a John Wesley Harding sound to it, the record John Wesley Harding.
Always wanted to play bass.
Yeah, that's right.
Anyways, I can play bass.
I'm actually quite good on bass.
Because you know I'm all about the bass, about the bass.
No trouble.
No trouble.
I'm all about the bass, about the bass.
No trouble.
Stephens is here.
Now I'm getting excited.
Yes.
So no guests today, just musical guests.
That's, we're going to take some advice from our audience.
We're going to be a little more selective.
I know there's a lot of people, the amount of people that come to me and say,
can I get,
can I come on the show?
I'm promoting my two-bit special.
I'm promoting my new show, my new cartoon, my new book, my new podcast.
Love you all, but we're going to be a little more discerning.
We're going to cut down on guests.
You'll see.
It's going to be fun and fine.
We're still going to have a tremendous array of talent come through the studio.
But today's just musical guest, Bunny, who just hit, this is kind of cool, Matt.
They're number one on Billboard charts today.
Bunny.
Tremendous.
This is, we've looked at polls and these are the, this is the top group.
The polls are pretty clear on that.
Unbelievable.
It is unbelievable, I'm afraid.
But I'm excited to get to know Bunny.
And forget the U, you dope.
This band Bunny's looking at, looking at their name and said, I don't need it.
We can say, we don't need all them vowels.
They save ink on the t-shirts and they make a little more money.
That's right.
One cent more for sure.
Well, it's almost like the inverse of the old Wheel of Fortune standard joke.
Can I sell a vowel?
Can I buy a vowel?
More like, can I sell a vowel?
And we're looking into that strongly.
Is that a bunny?
That's a bunny.
That's a bunny sound.
I guess that's what they sound like.
Bunny sound makes sound.
I didn't know they made sound.
Wes knows.
He has a bunny.
He has two bunnies.
Right, Wes?
What do you say?
Do they make noises?
That was a guinea pig sound that you just played.
Yeah.
But you didn't answer the question.
You're avoiding the question, Wes.
I mix them up.
Let's play a whiskey.
What do they sound like?
Do they make noises when they're chewing?
Yeah.
They sound like this.
I guess they do.
Do they squeak?
When they eat their pickles and corn.
All right.
Wes, do they squeak or not?
Yeah, they can squeak.
Okay.
Thank God.
Obviously, the big news yesterday, the big slipping away tour announcement,
that's up on Instagram.
And you can, I'm not going to belabor the point here on this show, but patrons
of Office Hours are going to get first dibs on tickets when they go.
There's this whole thing about this pre-sale.
It's just a mess.
Why does everything got to be pre-sale?
Pre-order this.
A sale's a sale.
I don't want a pre-sale.
I want to get it when I want it.
Also, yeah.
You know what I mean?
They're eating the dog.
No, they're not.
Look, here's my problem.
We announced the tour yesterday.
Like, at that point, make it.
Let them buy them.
Let them buy them.
Be for sale right away.
What's the big mystery?
That's when you get them.
That's like when people are looses.
They're like, oh, shit, I want to go to that.
I got to get it now.
I know.
I know.
Like, how many bites of the apple you're going to get?
Yeah.
But also, it's so far away.
I mean, can you imagine making plans for January, end of January?
I don't even want to think about January.
I don't even.
Imagine that.
I might not even be here in January 6th.
Christmas will be over all that stuff.
Imagine January 6th.
Let's get past January 6th.
Tim?
Vic, ask me what my favorite number is.
Do you have a favorite number and what is it, Tim?
Six.
Let's add that to the soundboard.
Anyways, I hope you come out.
It's going to be.
You know how good this group is.
You know how fun it is.
You know how much fun I have.
You know how much comedy there is in the show.
I mean, obviously, DJ Doug Pound is going to be on a chunk.
Neil Hamburger is going to be on a chunk.
It's all coming together and you're not going to want to miss any of these
shows.
In fact, everyone should go to all the shows.
Well, in fact, this is a great time for a good horning.
Oh, yeah.
Tickets will be on sale.
I don't know.
When?
Tomorrow?
At timheidegger.com.
That's beautiful.
And Garrett Morris dot com.
I'm partnering with the SNL legend.
You're partnering with Garrett Morris.
Garrett Morris dot com to provide an exclusive window of opportunity to get
tickets to the
show.
So I want to thank Garrett Morris.
Garrett Morris isn't still with us, is he?
The Morris estate has provided the link to their website.
Basically, we got in the back door on his website.
His Wikipedia says is, so he is still alive.
He's still going.
We got the keys to the kingdom when it comes to Garrett Morris dot com.
He said post whatever the fuck you want.
So we're putting tickets up there.
Let's go to Garrett Morris dot com, Matt.
Let's see.
He looks like he's still active on Instagram.
Oh, he is?
As of March.
We should get him on the show.
Garrett Morris dot com is active.
Oh, yeah.
Look at this.
It's under construction.
He was an opinion columnist for the Wall Street Journal.
Excuse me.
Here's your Garrett Morris dot com.
Wow.
See?
Oh, yeah.
It's under construction.
Well, starting Wednesday, that under construction is going to be replaced with
ticket links to
the Slipping Away Tour.
So, the new single Dad of the Year is out.
Everyone's loving it.
A few people aren't.
Let me be frank.
I'm always honest with you.
Not like Trump when he talks about his debate.
Hey, it won the debate.
Well, guess what?
But guess what? I'm not bullshitting anybody. I'll be honest, there are some
turds out there who've got a big problem with it. And most people are saying
such lovely things and we love it. The band is so proud of the record, right
Vic?
I play guitar on it. And keyboards. Although I play the organ on this song.
Right here I did an overdub. I hear like an Elvis Costello and the Attractions
organ line. I did it myself.
Yes, I came up with the dude. You liar. No, that's me. Brett Stevens is here.
All right. Enough Brett Stevens. Enough Matt. Turn that up. An insane asylum is
a mental institution on steroids. I said to Vic and Doug, Matt, I said we have
to do a daily show. Like the daily show.
Like the, I have that daily show tattoo on my back.
It's the full Jon Stewart. It's like. No, it's just the logo for the daily show
on my back. You know, I said we have to do a show every day because of
everything that's happening. There's so much going on. And we're going to get
to most of it today. Join patreon.com slash office hours live. If you haven't,
it's the greatest deal in town. Somebody at the Emmys told me. I was at the Emmys.
I think it was, I think it was Jon Stewart. Well, he said, damn it. How do you
guys do that with a Patreon? It's the best deal I've ever heard.
Oh, you guys are involved in institutions.
Thanks, Jon, for the shout out. And I guess he's going to make a big
announcement about office hours tonight on the show.
Yeah. And how much he enjoys it. Our coverage. Nice moment of Zen.
Let's take a call. We got the Hothead Hotline live. We've got your Zooms and a
lot of rock news to cover. But let's hear from you, the audience. You are the
DNA of the show.
What's up, everybody? Let's have a caller. Vic. Vic slash. I'm here. I'm back
here. What's his name? What's his name? Towns Van Zandt behind him. Towns. Towns.
That's right. Who's on the line? Anthony Jabroni is on the line.
Oh, this fucking guy. Hello. Oh. Anthony, you there? Oh, Ant, what's up? Oh,
hello? Yeah, what's up? Oh, my gosh. Hello. Hey. Howdy. What's up? Can you hear
me? Yes. Yes. Speak. Oh, okay. I have a question for you.
Then say it. Ask the question. Don't. Oh, okay. I will. I will.
So, I've watched some of your comedy shows, and my brother has shown me some of
your stuff on the Adult Swim, and I just, I don't get it. Do you know, can you
explain to me why?
Okay.
Explain to you why you don't get it, or try to explain the comedy?
That's right.
No, no, no, no, no. I don't think comedy should have to be explained. I just
don't get your stuff. Do you know why?
I know, uh, my guess is you're dim.
You make a good point.
Oh, damn it.
That's probably it.
Yeah.
I had a feeling that might be it.
Yeah, you might.
I had a feeling that might be it.
You might be a dons.
Uh.
Do you think if I understood it, I would really appreciate it?
Yeah, I think so.
I think that's it.
Yes.
Also, I'll tell you what.
I'll tell you what, Anthony.
What's up?
I think sometimes hit you, some things hit you at different times in your life.
Sometimes something doesn't really work, and then you find it later.
So I would say, like, don't, don't close the door on it.
I'd say, like, you know, keep it, keep the potential for it to, uh, the concept
of it being good for you, uh, open in your mind.
And perhaps it'll hit you at a different point.
The concept of a plan.
The concept of a plan.
Sound good, bud?
Got you.
That sounds awesome.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, take care.
I love your work.
Have a good one.
Wait, what?
See?
Say what?
We're a satisfied customer on the hotline.
Was that a bit?
Does that mean that was a bit?
Yes.
How about the Zoom, Matt?
Let's, let's clear, let's clear everyone out of the Zoom.
Send them all to bed.
All right.
Um, let's go to Matthew Cosgrove.
Where are you from?
Is it a new face, maybe?
Jesus Christ.
All right.
Where are you from?
Hello.
Yo, what's up?
Hey, are you the guitar player in Bunny?
I am, yeah.
I actually just got a seventh pickup added to my new, uh, rock stick.
How
