Season 10 Premiere with Martin Urbano (Ep 324)

Just a bit outside.
I like having fun.
I like to laugh.
I like to meet people who can make me laugh.
I like having fun.
Yes, I like to laugh.
I like having fun to meet people who can laugh.
Good morning, everybody.
Hey, welcome to the season 10 premiere of Office Hours Live.
That's right.
We are here in Glendale, California, in the Office Hours Garage, the studio,
studio garage,
one-bedroom apartment.
And we are back from the desert, back from our evacuation zone.
Everything is wonderful again.
Everybody's coming.
We have returned.
And everything's just the way it was.
Blue skies.
And as if it never happened.
And many are saying the events of last week was a dream I had.
I've read that in a few.
You see that article about the terrible events of last week where it was
actually.
Did you see that article?
It was just your dream.
It was a dream.
It was like season six of Sopranos.
Yeah, it was a nightmare.
Kevin Fenerty.
It could have been.
It could have been.
It could have been.
Did you read that article, Vic?
I did.
You did?
No, I did not.
But imagine what happens in it.
The article is also in my imagination.
So I'm not sure how you would have seen it.
We have an exciting show for you today.
We've got comedian Martin Urbano joining us, who's actually here, but I will
not speak to him for a little bit.
You'll be quiet.
You'll respect the format.
Very nice.
Quietly sitting there.
Thumbs up.
I've been given the thumbs up by Martin Urbano.
What a treat that was.
I will introduce the co-host of the show, DJ Doug Pound, of course.
Oh, good horny.
Wow.
And VB3, VB4.
Hello, everybody.
Let's do that one.
Let's do a what sip, y'all.
What was my, what sip?
What do you have in that?
You got a coffee and then an orange juice?
So this is a decaf coffee, and then this is water with ice, and then I pour
some orange juice in it, and it's fucking great.
It is the best.
I bet.
I'm big into oranges today because I got the sumo oranges.
You should stop by, like, a mimosa.
Oh, I should.
I should do that.
Have you ever thought about, on the way in, stopping by, like, a Hampton Inn or
one of those free continental breakfasts and going up, filling up with some
stuff?
Yeah, or croissants.
I think you'd be happy.
Breakfast at Tim's.
Breakfast at Tim's.
Breakfast at Tim's.
Breakfast at Tim's.
And Captain, Captain Carlin is here.
Good morning.
Hello.
We have so much to get to today.
So many clips have piled.
Oh, you want to do that now?
Okay.
I want to thank all of our friends at the show who came out to the big season
10 premiere last night.
I know it was a little controversial because of what's going on in the Southland,
as we call this area, L.A., Hollywood.
But we had a really nice premiere party last night and got to watch, actually
watch screened this episode last night.
And Jeremy Renner was there.
We saw the Garfunkels, Bill, and the two Bills, Bill Maher and William H. Macy
came down.
William H. Spacey.
Jeremy Renner.
Oh, Martin.
Martin, you were there.
Thank you for showing up.
Rod, Rod Schneider and his wife.
And guest.
I like when they say and guest.
I thought it was nice that Dave Chappelle came because he's hosting SNL.
And so I don't know how that worked.
Dave Chappelle and friend.
And our boys, our rock and roll boys from the UK.
We had Ronnie Wood and Jimmy and Eric were there.
Eric brought his sword with him.
And Steve Harvey, of course, came down.
And me with Mike, the governor, the ex-governor.
And Woody was there with Al.
And Robbie Krieger was there.
That's the highlight.
Woody never comes to California.
Woody's never out in L.A., which is so sweet that he flew out.
Jesus, you know?
Woody, put me in one of your movies, huh?
Get his hat in his hand.
Do you think when Robin Williams and Al Pacino did that movie together,
what was that movie called?
One Hour Photo?
Was that it?
No, Insomnia.
Insomnia.
That's enough, Wes.
You can go back to.
God, I feel like I'm on speed because Wes was just ripping through those
pictures.
I didn't think he was going to pull them up right away.
And so you got Robin Williams and Al Pacino in the green room.
Or no, sitting off in their holding room for where they're making.
Is the movie Insomnia?
Insomnia, yes.
And they're just both going, oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Hello.

Okay.
Oh, well, this might be a little bit.
That is the captain.
I can cut him off.
They're not good questions.
That's a really, really nice guy.
Yes.
Hello.
Mr. Patagonia.
What do we have for you?
Hey, it's Ben Affleck.
Wow.
Yeah.
That's better than the Aaron Rodgers I usually get.
Question.
I've been curious about the original podcast for the original heads out there.
The Tim and Eric podcast from, like, what was it, 05 to 07 or something?
Night Live?
I don't remember exactly.
No, no.
Tim and Eric, the podcast.
The podcast.
You were, like, ahead of the game.
That was back when podcasts were a new thing.
I just wanted to hear something about it.
I just, I've loved it.
And you know what I loved?
I loved that one episode where you'd pray and call Apple.
And I always think about Eric's song, Apple, it's a great, great snack.
It's all that website podcast.
And how that just broke you, like that.
Yeah.
Well, I think we, just, I'll speak briefly about it and then we'll get to
Martin Urbano.
Thank you.
It was very new.
The technology to podcast was very fresh.
It was, I mean, you think about it, podcast, where's the name podcast come from?
It comes from the fact that it was, people were listening to it on their iPod.
And they don't even have the iPod anymore.
Good guess, fun energy.
A lot of people had iPod nanos.
What was the other brands of the iPod?
There was a lot of podcasts coming this week.
Was there a different touch?
I have a whole bunch of podcasts in a drawer or iPods.
You have a whole bunch of podcasts in a drawer?
You got to release those, Doug.
Yeah.
You can't really use them anymore, right?
No, I got the nano and I got that little white stick.
That was the coolest one.
Yeah.
So anyways, we figured out that.
Shuffle, the shuffle.
Amazon.com.
We figured out that you could upload videos in the podcast space.
Oh.
Video podcast, which they felt like revolutionary to us right away.
Because it was like, oh, we could, as long as you have a computer, you can base.
I mean, it was kind of, I guess YouTube was around too, but people weren't
using YouTube as much.
Like YouTube had a very, like, I don't think you could post up anything more
than a couple of minutes,
maybe on the first couple of years of YouTube.
Anyways, thank you for that.
And those are all probably on, speaking of YouTube, they're probably all on
YouTube right now.
You could watch Tim and Eric, the podcast.
And it really was a great demo, a great sort of proof of concept for what
became Awesome Show.
Great job.
You had a whole arc with Michael Cera.
Yep, Michael Cera came in, who I just saw the other day.
He was doing wonderful.
Congratulations to me and Eric.
Speaking of, we were just nominated for a DGA award.
For our CeraVe commercial.
Second related question.
I don't get a lot of nominations.
I don't get a lot of awards.
Okay, so when one comes down the pike, who congratulated me?
Nobody.
Congratulations.
I had to tell people.
I have a friend who slurped.
Adult Swim, maybe.
I mean, they let Tim and Eric do their thing.
Right.
Thank you, Joe.
Did you have another question, Affleck?
I did.
I wanted to know.
I know it's been chaotic, but did you check out the new Pat Finnerty episode?
I was just telling Matt that I was literally, before we went live, I was just
watching it this morning,
but I had to stop to put on, provide this entertainment for you.
It's nuts.
Well, geez.
It's great.
And it's so far, so great.
Pat's done it again.
He's got a whole new episode about, what's it called?
Interpolation.
An interpolation of country roads by John Denver.
I'd like to think we influenced this a little bit, this topic.
We should check with him because he came on the game night and we were talking
about that Bowie country song interpolation.
Oh, yeah.
Where is it?
Rebel Rebel.
He said Bowie.
I'm expecting David Bowie.
Bowie.
David Bowie.
All right.
Yes.
Pat Finnerty.
We love Pat.
In fact, fuck you, because that was going to be my recommendation for today.
It's still David Bowie.
But it is a great piece of work from Pat.
Oh, I'm all jazzed today.
I think I had too much coffee.
Shut the fuck up.
Anyone feeling that?
I'm drinking some jazz.
I don't think so, Tim.
Well, let's welcome the big guest for the show today.
I don't think so, Tim.
Do you have that too?
Do you have that too?
I don't think so, Tim.
Do you have that?
I don't know.
That's mine.
Oh, who's staying there?
I don't think so, Tim.
I have those too.
What the hell?
I don't think so, Tim.
I don't think so, Tim.
I don't think so, Tim.
Oh, my God.
By the way, Tim Allen's got a new show.
We should look at some of that.
What's it called?
Someone find out what the name of that show is.
The Santa Claus.
Shifting gears.
Shifting gears.
Widowed father.
Sounds fun.
Tom, Tim Allen and what's her name?
Kat Dennings or something.
What?
Who's the lead?
Yeah, Kat Dennings.
Okay.
His estranged daughter.
Looks fun.
Real odd couple situation.
All right.
Let's bring him in.
Can we bring Martin in?
Oh, is he available?
All right.
Let's welcome the great one.
My new favorite comedian.
And I'm not kidding about that.
Because there's not a lot out there that is worth my time.
And that's Martin Urbano.
Hey, thanks for having me.
There he is.
Let's be here.
Applause.
Martin, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm a stand-up.
I'm visiting from New York.
Ironically, he's sitting down.
It's a, mm-hmm.
Yeah, you know, it seemed a great time to visit LA.
And now I'm here.
Yeah.
Well, your special is out on YouTube.
Yes.
Speaking of YouTube, which I spoke about earlier.
The apology comeback special.
Yeah.
I have to say it's one of the, one of the better ones out there.
Of course, we've got a lot of great stand-up specials happening right now.
I'm sorry.
Like.
Like.
Which ones do you like?
The Ellen one, I thought was pretty good.
Did we walk through the Ellen one?
We looked at it over the holidays privately, Matt.
Yeah, I don't think we ever covered that.
We have too much to cover.
You caught the Ellen one?
Yeah, ye
