OHCHELLA with Japanese Breakfast & Ginger Root (Ep 336)

If I lose it, I can't tell What did you mean when you said it's a joke
Oh baby, get right to it, how it felt Before your blink it ends
Tell me if I lose my mind, must I come to find
Only you, only you
Come on baby, only you
Come on baby, please forgive me first I'm out, watch for the signs cause I'm
already broke
Oh baby, simply put in something else, my lack of confidence
Tell me if I lose my mind, must I come to find
Why only you, only you
Ah, ah, ah, oh
Come on baby, only you
Come on baby, only you
O-N-L-Y, only you
Tell me if I lose my mind, must I come to find
Only you, only you
Only you, come on baby, only you
Come on baby, only you
Come on baby, only you
I'm singing O-N-L-Y, only you
I'm singing O-N-L-Y, only you
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for Office Hours
Here on this Sunday up in this garage
We're pleased to, I'm pleased to be here
I'm Ginger Root
I'm playing music right now
We also have another lovely guest
Michelle's on our Japanese breakfast
I'm currently stealing Tim's job
So thanks for being here, happy to be here
And we're gonna chat about a lot of stuff
And hang out
And here's your host, Tim Heidecker
I like having fun, I like to love
I like to meet people who can make you laugh
I like having fun, I like to love
laugh, I like to meet people who make me laugh
Welcome to the show everybody, it's me
Thank you to Ginger Root
For kicking things off in an unusual way
Where am I?
I have no clue, I'll be very honest with you
You have no idea where I am?
Huh?
You're in Glendale
We don't know where I am
No, I'm on a different plane than everybody else today, folks
Wish you could join me up here
On the magic carpet ride that is my mind
Let's start the show in earnest
With the great DJ Doug Pound
Welcome DJ
Ah, good horning
He's not wearing pants
Victor Snickers Burgers in the house
What's up everybody?
Man is
Not wearing pants
It's all
And no underwear either
That's true
I mean, I guess
It's making everybody uncomfortable
Because he has been standing up at odd times
As we're getting things ready
Just standing up
And then sitting down
And then everyone sees what's happening
Standing up and bending over
The worm dude
Captain Carlin
Doing what he does best
Shilling
Shilling for our merchandise
He's a bit of a worm nerd
Wait, we get no
We have the worst merch deal
Worse than the Beatles had
When they were starting out
We get nothing from this merch
I get it
My seven-year-old son
Matt gets everything
He's like Brian Epstein
He gets the lion's share
Of the profits
From the merch
Worm nerd
That I'm laying out
Do you remember that, Tim?
No, what's that from?
This is you
My seven-year-old son
He's a bit of a worm nerd
When did I ever say that?
It was some kind of prank call show
Maybe Kellison was involved
Really?
Do you remember this?
For TikTok
For Snapchat
Maybe toss some worms around
Maybe toss some worms up against the wall
I don't remember that at all
Do you remember that?
My seven-year-old son
Worm nerd
That's funny
Because that would have been
Years and years ago
Before I had a seven-year-old son
Who is now eight
Pretty exciting
So it is pretty exciting
Notice me, senpai
We've got a great show for you today
We've already had a song
From Ginger Root
Cameron
Cameron
What's your name?
What's your full name?
What's my name?
Cameron
Lou
Lou
Okay
Lou
Cameron
Lou
YouTube
Who, me, bro?
Right?
Yeah
Listen to this
Look at you
I have my own site called LouTube, actually
Really?
Wow
YouTube
What is that?
And I press
We got Woody on the phone
Was that Woody?
And I press
The music
The music
Or the YouTube
All right
Thank you
And you're about to be going on tour
Is this announced?
Can we announce this?
Absolutely
Announced with
Our main attraction
No offense to you
Hey
I mean
Are you opening up for her
Or is she opening up for you?
Let's be honest about this
I'm just along for the ride
Thank you
I'm being honest
Japanese breakfast in the house
Hi
Michelle's honor
We're going to call you Michelle today
We're not going to call you
Ms. Breakfast
Now you
The Japanese breakfast is the name of the band
Yeah
But you're doing all the work
Is that fair to say?
Yes
No
No
Okay
Everyone's chipping in?
Everyone's chipping in
Okay, good
They're not here today
That's for sure
They're sleeping in
They're not here today
You were doing the Coachella business, right?
Yeah
Yeah
How's that going?
Good
So much
They gave me my own spa water
Really?
What is the
Walk us through the day for you at Coachella?
Is it pretty
For the musicians
It's
You just
Head right in
You do your thing
We didn't have to wait in any line
There's great artist catering
Legendary
Legendary artist catering
I only knew it because
Because of me
No, actually because
And then because I've talked it up so much
They gave me
There's like 10 different types of spa water
And they gave me my own
They named one Japanese breakfast spa water
What is spa water?
Yeah
What the hell is spa water?
Spa water is
Spa water is
You sit in the
This is water people sit in
No, it's like when you put fruit in water
Oh, like the
Cucumbers
Yeah
Okay
What's your favorite spa water flavor?
Cucumber is pretty good
Doug, that was one of my questions
Now what am I going to ask?
Can I ask a question once in a while?
Next
Do they ever put like meat in there?
How much time are you allotted?
Beef water
We get 45 minutes
Oh, that's a chunky set
I love a short set personally
Well, that's like a little more
Well, let me do the math
That's a little more than 30
Yeah
I got 55
You have 55?
I got 55
You did a full 55
What's that about?
I don't know
What time of the day is this?
It was like
You're later than us
It was evening
And with air condition
I was in the air condition tent
You're in a smaller
I was in the small
You're at my mom's condo
I was at the kids table
That's better though
Well, you're really here to talk about this new album you put out
Which I have to tell you is beautiful
Thank you
I am sad
I love sad music
Oh
Produced by Blake Mills
Yeah
Did you do it at his spot?
At this famous
Sound City
Sound City?
Yeah
Wow
It was my first studio record
Like actually
Oh, because everything else had been
Like in warehouses
Like semi-professional warehouses
Wherever you can get people together
Yeah
Bedrooms?
Any bedroom?
Yeah, definitely
Did you like the studio experience?
Yeah, it's like warmer in there
Than these warehouses that I've
Temperature-wise?
Temperature-wise
It's definitely warmer in there
I looked at some of the credits
You had Jim Keltner
We have Jim Keltner
That was, yeah
That's kind of surreal, right?
That guy played on Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver
Really, did he?
Yeah, watching him play
He was a Wilbury
He played on Imagine
He played on George Harrison
John Lennon
What does he play?
He's a drummer
And yeah, Blake was like
We call him the life giver
Wow
And yeah, I mean
And you saw it happen in real time
I saw it happen in real time
And it was surreal
He brings all these weird
Like ancient coconuts
And things
Like just shakers
And brushes
He didn't bring any shakers
But he brought
I think he probably brought
Some snares
And yeah
He's a wizard
Master of percussion
Yeah
We also are nominated
For a Webby
I would like to say
An Emmy as well
But we are not
Bitly slash
We want to win a Webby
And that's
Matt, we're right now
Neck and neck
With these people
From the office
And I feel like
Honestly, the office
Not the office
The office leads
People from the office
Yeah, two random people
From the office
Have a podcast
Where all they do
Is yap
On and on
About the office
They re-watch
It's nonsense
Frankly, you could
Watch it in your own time
It's not comedy
What we do
Is we provide
Cutting edge musicians
The opportunity
Cutting edge
And humor
Which people
Don't even get anymore
On their regular podcasts
Most of these podcasts
Lost the humor angle
I haven't seen these
No one's laughing
And no one's having fun
Except on this show
And we have documentation
To prove that
By the way
So get your votes in
If you haven't already
And we'll win
With your support
Would you pledge to vote?
Michelle
Yeah
I don't know
You have some deep competition
Absolutely
Really?
So, and you
Who would you vote for
If we weren't on that list
On that list
I'd vote for less culture
Even if we were on the list
Would you vote for them?
Okay
We'll see how tonight
Or this morning goes
Yeah
I mean, so far it's going
This is a big news
For office hours
We provided some
Breakfast options for you
Which we usually
Do not do for guests
And we're from Japan
Oh, I see Doug
Japanese breakfast
I see Doug
Hello food fans
All right
We're going to get into
The interview with you
A little later
We have lots of questions
I'm sure our audience does
We have so much to get to
We have
My
I have something I'm calling
The ultimate game
Doug, I hate to do that to you
But I do have the ultimate game
It's not baseball
That's just a name
That's just semantics
It's the ultimate game
And we're going to play it
Throughout the show
And I think we could just
Start that now
And then kind of
Return to it
Throughout the morning
Now I'm getting excited
All right
So this is a quote
And the audience can play at home
You guys can play
The only one that knows
The answer is
Matt
The worm dude
This is a quote
And we want to find out
Who said it
We couldn't hold back any longer
It was our first kiss
And it was long
Passionate and deep
It was wonderful too
Though as we continued
To kiss and press
Against each other so closely
That we could feel
Each other's body heat
A part of me
A tiny part admittedly
Said to myself
Oh my god
I'm kissing my brother
What am I doing
Who said it
Kiss
Who said it
Any quick guesses
Trump about Biden
Trump about Biden
No
Doug do you have any quick guesses
Did you do any research on this
I didn't
But I had a similar guess
It was
It was like
Trump's sister
It's not all going to be about Trump
A lot of people think
I'm obsessed
That I have TDS
You know what TDS is
Trump derangement syndrome
A lot of these
Lunatics
Far right lunatics
Vic anything
Oh my god
I don't know
Gyllenhaal
Is it
Yeah
I was
Well yeah
Did Angelina Jolie kiss her brother
Or something like that
But she would never
Speak this way
True
Good analysis
Or it could be Rob Schneider again
Alright the Zoom
The audience can play
We're not going to just
Linger on this
We'll check in
Matt
Just make sure we check in on this
Yeah Steph has a guess
Who does?
Oh really?
Steph
Steph on Zoom
Can you unmute?
It's up to you
Steph?
No?
Steph you don't want to
Alright
Come on
Let's jam
I was going to take a call anyway
So if anybody has a guest
You can also call the
Hothead hotline
If you want to be on the phone
You don't want to see
You want to see your face
I was going to say ugly mug
How nice
Walk that back
Steph is shy
In real time telling us
Thank you
Thank you
See what a good person I am
I love you
A lot of people think I'm a bad guy
But I'm actually a good person
You are
Thomas
Thomas
You have a guess
Thomas Makowski
Yeah
I think I'm wrong
Can you
Oh wait
Can you hear me?
Go ahead Thomas
Alright
Princess Leia
Princess Leia is not
No
Incorrect
If you're
If you're saying
By that do you mean
Not the actual
Character of Princess Leia
But Carrie Fisher
No
Princess Leia
The actual
Okay
No
Incorrect
That's all I got
But thank you so much for playing
And that's why we call it
And we have music for this
The Ultimate Game
Thanks for having me
Thanks for having us
Thanks for having us
You know what
It could be a brother
Kissing a brother
That's what I was thinking
And that's why
It might be tricky
Extra tricky
That's why
I don't want anybody
Out there like
Doing reverse search engine shit
Where they type in the quote
Yeah we might not want to
Oh okay
That's illegal
Is there a system to check that though?
I would think you could type
You could type that thing in
And search it
Oh but if they tell you the answer
And then you have to be like
There's an honor system situation
But there is $100,000 on the line
If you get it right
So
How is it new?
Is it new?
Like is
