Hello, Paul, where are you calling from?
I'm calling from the city of the week.
Oh, wow, this is, well, of the day.
That's cool.
Wow, which city is that?
East Sussex.
Wow.
Paul, what's your last name?
McCartney.
What?
I don't like to lead with McCartney because it makes people clam up sometimes.
I can't believe this.
The actual Paul McCartney, sir, Paul McCartney calling, you know, I'm a big, I
don't know
why you don't, maybe you do because you're listening to the show, but I'm a
massive fan.
Oh, is that right?
Thank you.
That's kind, Tim.
I've never seen your work.
Oh.
But I'm happy to be here.
Yeah, well, what's happening with you?
What's going on?
Yeah, well, you know, I'm just chilling, you know, just relaxing.
All right.
As Will Smith once said, chilling out, maxing, relaxing, all good.
Yeah.
Great.
Well, have you been following this Pete Townsend, The Who?
I was curious because you go way back with these guys.
So put on!
Pete Townsend and The Who, they were talking about that he's going to do this
music stuff
for another 10 years, and then they had the issue with Zach and everything.
Are you following any of that stuff?
10 years.
I mean, that's child's play.
You know, I'm going to be making music for another 28 years.
Well, how old are you now?
I'm 91.
So that would put me at a clean 119 if I've done the math correctly.
I think, I didn't realize you're 91, I thought you were 80-something, but.
Oh, you're very kind.
Well, what do you think is going to be the key to get you to 100 playing out,
doing all
those big shows and playing Hey Jude and everything else?
Well, I'm 97 years old right now.
So all I've got to do is keep eating clean for about two and a half more years.
Because you're a famous vegetarian, is that right?
Oh, yeah, yeah, no.
I don't eat a lot of meat, but I'm contemplating going keto.
Yeah.
And let me tell you something about Pete Townsend and the hullabaloo.
Okay, they wanted to offload their drummer, Ringo's son, actually.
And I told Pete I could play drums, you know, I played on the White Album, I
played on Abbey
Road, I'm playing right now, if you can hear me happen, that's me.
And so, you know, I said, well, I could play your bloody drums, but Ringo was
upset.
He woke up from his coma and he yelled at me, you know.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, I'm sure that you're close with Ringo and you have close
relationships with
all the Beatles sons, but.
Ringo keeps trying to get me to use his black beard dye.
And one of these days, I'm going to try it.
