Amerikkka's Birthday with Larry Charles, Will Menaker (Episode 346)

I like having fun
I like to laugh
I like to meet people who can make me laugh
I like having fun
Yes, I like it too loud
I like having fun to meet people who can laugh
Good afternoon, if you're me
Good morning to my friends in the West Coast
and everybody else in the world
Congratulations, you have made it to the live broadcast of Office Hours Live
Happy July 3rd, everybody
What a great day in America's history
It's Independence Day Eve
I'm Tim Heidecker, joining you from
Where am I, Doug?
You are in Arkansas
Arkansas
And I'm going to be completely honest with you
We've got a terrific show
And another modicum of honesty
Vic, honesty is a song by who?
Honesty
Billy Joel sang that
Thank you
And we'll be quizzing you throughout the day
On other words I say and how they're related to songs
Keep it up
I am on four hours of sleep due to my shooting schedule
I didn't tell you guys this this morning
Got in at 7 a.m. this morning
Oof, marron
And so I'm going to be on another level
But that's like, what is it like?
It's noon there, right?
It's noon here, so let's count the hours
What, how many?
Five?
He just said he got four
Oh, four, sorry
Four!
Because I woke up at 11
I mean, I woke up at 11
And I didn't get down
You know, I'm tossing
I don't just come into my hotel room
And flop on the bed
And go
What do you think
The three stooges
Getting in my
Their head hits the pillow
But I'm not here to complain
I'm just here to be
Honesty
We got a great show though
I'm excited about it
Because my friend Larry Charles
I can't believe I get to
What is
Who
What kind of guy am I?
I get to call him my friend
Larry Charles
One of the legends
Of comedy
We simply wouldn't have comedy
Without Larry
We wouldn't have it
He's redefined it
Throughout
In the 20th
One of the great minds
Of the 20th century
I'll say that
In a lot of ways
He's got a new book out
Comedy Samurai
And we're going to talk to him
Shortly
And then
Yes sir
What was that Mr
President
I like that
Nice and wet
Ron
He's got a gun
Will Meneker
From the Chapo Trap House
Is here to
Peddle some shit
What is it Matt?
What the hell does he
Have that
Can't wait
Until after the holiday
It's a brand new novel
A graphic novel
To celebrate America
I believe
Now I'm getting excited
There's a link in the bio
Okay
Well but it's exciting
You know he gave a terrific
Interview with Larry
The other week
Which I listened to
As my prep
Because all I do
When I do interviews
With people
Is I listen to other interviews
And write down those questions
That's all everybody does
Big old circle jerk
Whenever there's a good question
You take the good ones
Yeah
Anyway
Doug
I'm kicking it over to you
For the remainder of the show
How are you doing?
I'd like to give you
A good horning
Tres cañones cortos
Maritimas de un metro
Maritimas de 70 centímetros
Wow
And
VB4
What you got?
What sip everybody
Hot and cold
Hot and cold
Oh remember when
McDonald's used to have
The McDLT
McDonald's
What was it called?
The McDLT
The hot stays hot
And the cold stays cold
Then you put them together
Right
Keeping it crispy
And it comes in that
How about this McDonald's?
Thyrofoam container
And the chlorofluorocarbons
Put them together
McDonald's
How about you just make the sandwich
When I order it
Then you don't have to worry
About all that
Then I'll eat it
Then
It's probably more of a
To-go situation
That's true
And I do hate
I think
A lesson you learn in life
Is
Is
You don't want
To bag
You don't want to bag
French fries
Because the steam
Then
Takes the crisp out
You always got to
Cut a hole in there
Let a little vintage
Going on in there
Thank you
You have to
I mean if not
They're ruined
Almost immediately
But it is a holiday
It is technically
A holiday week
It's a holiday episode
So we want to
Start things off right
Get us in the patriotic mood
Obviously things are
Going very well
This country is being run
Very efficiently
At the moment
There's a lot of
Great things happening
In the federal government
That we're excited
To talk about
And so
So to kick things off
We do have a special song
From somebody named
Well a great man
Named Sal
Sal G
He's one of the best
Not Sal Gervin Alley
From the Howard Stern Show
But Sal G
Part of Sal G
Sal's movement
What's going on gentlemen?
You said it best
Happy July Eve
Fourth of July Eve
Hell yeah
I'm excited
Pumped
Now I'm getting excited
Sal
Where are you calling in from Sal?
I'm from Lime, Ohio
And I want to say
I've never heard so many
Sound effects
In a show in my entire life
But I'm kind of liking it
So keep me
All right
Well as long as you're happy
Yeah
We'll hold them off
While you sing though
We won't
We won't bombard
Yeah
Yeah
I wish you best of luck
Sal
I don't get
I don't get treated well
By those two guys
Or I don't get shown
Any respect
So I hope you get shown
A modicum of respect
Yes
Okie doke
We can only hope
So Sal
So you've been on a mission
Yes
So I've been
Singing and posting
The national anthem
For 839 days in a row
Yeah
But I stopped
Well a lot of us have
But go ahead
In a row?
Yeah
Yeah
So I started February 19th
2019
But then I stopped
When somebody else
Came into office
I kind of forget
That guy's name
But I don't know
John Biden
Yeah
Well you've got
The blue
Where's the red and white?
Somewhere
We got
A little something
Going on there
At least you got
A little something there
Yeah
There you go
Just
We got to land up
So have you sung it
So have you sung it today yet?
I have not
This would be it
Alright
Let's take it away Sal
Okie doke
Oh say can you see here by the dawn's earthly lights
What's so proud you yield
At the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright souls
Through the peril that's fight
For the ramparts we was
Were so galled on these streets
Why are you guys wearing hats?
Take your fucking hats off
He's killing
To the night
That I watched
The double gal
Who see
Does that
Shaw-spangled
In a review
Or
Head of the rain
And the home
Of the rain
Yes
Wow
What's up with that
What's up with that affect
In your voice when you sing
Is that just a natural
Is that something you've been working on
Or is that something
It just seems like you're from somewhere else
When you start singing
It's just slowly evolved
Over the
Damn near two years
I've been singing it
So yeah
What made you want to sing that every day?
So I sing it every single day
So I posted on
Instagram on Styles Movement
For Donald Trump
To invite me to the White House
Why would you want to go there?
It's a nice place
I want to meet the guy
I think it'd be
Honestly at this point
I think
I'm just
I just thought of it
I mean I was
I was super into politics
In like middle school
And
Kind of got out of it
Would you go there
Would you go there
And pull his pants down?
Like what would be the object
Of meeting him?
No
The object of meeting him
What would be the point
What would be the point
Of spending a moment with him
Without
You know
Embarrassing him?
I think it would just be
Shake his hand
Say
And say
Shame on you
And then just
Use some hand sanitizers
That's a good opportunity
To say
Shame on you
Alright Sal
And when you're talking
About Sal's movements
Are we talking about
Your bowel movements
Or what are we talking about?
No this is just
I don't know
I don't know
I came up with that
In like 8th grade
And it's just like
Chasing my dream
You know dreams
Are going to chase you
You got to go chase them
Thank you Sal
Okie doke
Thank you Sal
Doug do you have anything
For Sal?
He's the best
When they ring them
Golden
No I just
I appreciate your song
And thank you for singing
Yeah
And I like the dedication
Every day you get it
And it cheers me up
Every time I see it
Thank you Sal
Great
Why don't you go sing
Outside
Why don't you go sing
Outside the detention centers
While fathers and mothers
Are trying to get in touch
With their family
See you later Sal
Yes
Thank you guys for having me on
Thanks Sal
Thanks
God is good
That was one of Vic's
Vic's new guys
One of my new guys
Come on
You know you loved him
Great guy
He'll be back next week
Yeah
He's a permanent
Fourth member of the show
By the way Matt
Carlin is back with us
Ah
Hello
Thank you for
How are you Matt
Having me back
Thanks I'm good
Fully recovered
On the one hand
We gotta respect the guy
For coming on the show
And
Singing his song
What about the other hand
What about the other hand
But on the other hand
Do you just
Disrespect him
Yes
I think at this point
I mean like
At this point
What are we fucking doing
Like it's
Like if you're not
Actively shaming people
For like having anything
To do with this
You know
Fascist regime
That we're living under
Like fuck you
I don't give a shit
I'm not there to make friends
With everybody
On God's green earth
I am
I want people to like me
Well I hope he feels
A little embarrassed
That's all
Oh jeez
Well
That wasn't my goal
My goal was just
To get the anthem
On the air
You know
Well we could have
Done that in a very
In numerous
Different ways
Probably ways
Was he wearing
A MAGA shirt
I couldn't tell
I don't think so
I kind of think it was
That's what I thought
It was just a blue shirt
He said it was
The Orlando Magic shirt
Oh
So you got TDS
MA was in there somewhere
We can go
We can go full inception
And go back to the video
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Let's watch it again
Oh you want to
Listen to it again
No I don't
Follow Sal on Instagram
It's a blessing
To see every day
I swear
Yes follow him
On Instagram
And then scroll through
Every single video
Like put them all in line
And just
I do like that
How he hits that first note
And I like that it's evolved
Maybe there's something wrong
Maybe there's something wrong
With him
Hey play that
That's why I don't
Vic
That's why I don't like
Having these kind of people
On the show
I don't know
What his story is
I know
But you have me on
You know
Oh this Instagram
You can't get the first note
You're a special guy
I'm special
Maybe he can talk to Larry
Hey listen Vic
You know that I'm on four hours
He's got the Seinfeld
You know
I'm on four hours of sleep
I got up this morning
I watched a little bit
Of Clayton Kershaw
Hitting 3,000 strikeouts
And I bawled my eyes out
Oh I thought you meant
Like Clay
The guy with the pamphlet
Clay
What's his name
Clay Callan
I thought that's what
You're talking about
The guy
Your pamphlet guy
Clay
Oh Clay Cooper
That's why I thought
You meant Clay Cooper
No but
So wait
3,000
What was it?
Hits?
3,000 strikeouts
Oh strikeouts
You know how many other pitchers
In the history of Major League Baseball
Have done that?
Probably
100?
Take a guess
20
He's the 20th
Well you know what I do
When I hear something like that
That's rare air
You know what I do?
I feel bad for those swingers
That's right
Those poor batters
They got to walk off in shame
All sad and bummed out
That they struck out
That's a lot of negative feelings
Piled up
How many did he do?
Matt what's the
Or Carson
What's the
3,000
That's a lot of sad guys
What's the chat saying
About Sal the
Sal the singer
We should call him
Sal the singer
They love him
Sal singer
We have a lot of patriots
In our audience
Yeah a lot of patriots
They like it
They like what you had to say
Thank you
We salute you
You know I'm back
And I hate to be the taskmaster
But we should probably get
The city of the day
And the ad reads
Before Larry gets here
Because Larry
All right
Yes sir
A message from Sal
He says
Thank you
I appreciate you guys
Good luck with the rest of the show
And he says
Always remember
God is good all the time
And all the time
God is good
There you go
All right
Well it must be nice
To have such a simple mind
I wish I could just
Get bonked on the head
And see the world
In such stark
Cartoonish ways
I'm not ashamed
To admit that I'm a Christian
All right
Here's your city of the day
No offense
No offense to Alan
What a dream
What a dream it would be
I'm cursed with highly
And high IQ
All right
City of the day
Is brought to you by
Oh boy
Daddy's Amara boiled horse ribs
Do you love ribs
But wish there was more meat
On those bones
Cow ribs are only a lousy
12 inche
