So I was reading the book and then like it would get into stuff about Seinfeld
and I guess it's called The Trip, the two-parter.
It's written like a Abbot and Costello routine, a lot of it.
Jerry and Larry and myself were all very addicted to these rerun shows that
were on over and over and over again like Abbot and Costello.
Kramer.
Oh, Helena, how are you?
I haven't worked since 1934. How do you think I am?
Well, that's only, uh, 58 years.
It was a three stooges short, sappy papi. I played Mr. Sugarman's secretary,
remember?
Yeah, right, right, yeah, yeah. That was a sham, right?
No, no, Curly.
The boys play three sailors who find a baby, the baby's been kidnapped, and the
police think that they did it.
Uh-huh, right.
But, but, of course they didn't do it. The police have made an awful mistake.
Right.
Mo hits Curly with an axe.
Uh-huh.
Just catch the kidnappers.
Right.
But it's too late.
Really?
The baby's dead.
Really?
The boys are sent to death row and are executed.
Well, I don't remember that part.
I played Mr. Sugarman's secretary.
Oh, yeah, yeah, you were, you were very good.
It was said for a three stooges, what, with the dead baby and the stooges being
executed and all.
Well, that was an unusual choice for the stooges.
Would you like to buy me a factory frozen yogurt at the store, Cramer?
Oh, well, uh, you know, I can't right now, you know, uh, I got a very big
meeting.
I got these people interested in my movie treatment, so I guess we'll have to
make it another time, all right?
Oh, no, no, no, no, don't go up there, Cramer.
They'll hurt you.
They'll destroy you.
You'll never make it in this town.
You're too sensitive like me.
Helena, you're wrong, you know, I'm not that sensitive at all.
I was engaged to Mickey Rooney.
He left me at the altar.
Cramer!
Cramer!
Yeah.
God, that is so great, right?
I mean...
I love it myself.
I haven't seen that in years.
It's a great comedy scene because there's obviously the absurdity of the stooges,
but then there's the comedy of Cramer trying to get away without being rude.
I could watch that awkwardness for, and I could watch those two forever doing
that back and forth.
And it's a beat you don't see Cramer do very often.
He's kind of trying to be polite, you know, and he's not in that position of
almost being
the straight man in that scene, really, which is kind of interesting also.
Obviously, that woman has dementia or something, you know, that character is
not all there,
but the idea of a Three Stooges short where a baby dies and they're executed is
so funny.
You know, death plays a big role in comedy.
It's the ultimate forbidden subject, and if you can find an angle to talk about
it,
it's the great therapeutic form of comedy to sort of get laughs from death,
the ultimate unfunny subject, you know.
I think you're like comedy Rick Rubin, but you're not a fraud.
That was the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me, by the way.
Thank you.
