Vic's Surprise Party with Gilly the Clown, Phil Braun, VB3 (Ep 351)

Thank you very much.
Good morning, everybody.
Welcome to Office Hours Live.
I'm your host, Tim Heidecker.
It is August 7th, 10.03 a.m. on the Pacific Coast.
Been hot.
Been hot.
It was hot yesterday.
I expect it to be hot.
Today, we have, of course, in the morning, it's never as hot as it is later in
the day.
It's real hot.
But it's real hot.
And Carson, I forgot to mention, I didn't see the credits come up on my
monitors here.
I just want to make sure that when we get to the point where I do need to see
stuff, that this is working.
There she blows.
But it's hot.
Thank you so much.
We've got a terrific show in store for you today.
Got some lick lips ahead.
We've got some comedy news.
But essentially, it's going to be us, the gang, the Trinity.
I'll introduce them real quick here.
DJ Doug Powell.
Good morning.
Good morning.
And Victor Berger IV.
What's up, everybody?
Now, we are, thank you, Vic.
We are in summer hours here.
We are in summer land.
Still August.
I'm wearing T-shirts now.
I don't know if people have noticed.
I've been wearing T-shirts on the show.
This is a summer thing.
You're not going to see that in September.
Got these new quince T-shirts you got on.
No, these are J.Crews.
Oh.
I find them to fit me well in very comfortable shirts.
How do they wash up?
How do they wash up?
Good.
They've not shrunk too much, and I'm happy about it.
These are good T-shirts.
Awesome.
Awesome.
I like, I found a T-shirt that I like.
It was like, I got it at a bagel shop in Maine, and it's a fairly, you, Matt,
what's it called again?
Color?
Oh, yeah.
Comfort Colors.
Comfort Colors.
Comfort Colors.
They're the best.
Oh, yes.
That's a good, so you're saying I can just buy those shirts?
Absolutely.
Online, yeah.
Or you can get an Office Hours shirt.
Are they Comfort Colors?
Comfort Colors.
I didn't know that.
Yeah, we're doing Comfort Colors now.
Well, join the revolution and get an Office Hours shirt.
I was not intending to promote that.
I never promote the merch on this show, but we do have merch.
Where can people find that?
OfficialOfficeHours.com?
That's correct, yeah.
All right, cool.
We've got long-sleeve Comfort Colors.
We've got short-sleeve.
Might do a new one.
We're going to do some new mugs.
Here's some breaking merch news.
The What Sip Everybody mug sold out before the Good Horning mug.
Really?
What?
Sorry.
Wow.
That is not the way to get on Goodside this morning.
Yeah, yeah, but I did buy a hundred of them, so that's partly why.
That's true.
A few did go to...
Did you clear up all your Vic Burger shirts?
Are they out?
No, they're still...
I have one I have to mail out yet, but everybody else, I think, to the best of
my knowledge,
has gotten one.
I've seen them online.
I've pulled the link, so I don't have to deal with that anymore.
Well, I think we should do a run of them on Comfort Colors.
Ooh, yeah, okay.
I like that idea.
I do want to start the show today with a couple of quick apologies.
I am not too proud to apologize, to not apologize.
Is that the way to say that?
I am not...
I don't always get it right.
I don't always get it right.
Try your back.
As you know it.
Please don't leave me, girl.
Don't you go.
I apologize for having drops on my podcast.
No.
I'm proud of my penis.
I am proud of my penis, honestly.
I'm sorry.
I am sorry.
I have two things to apologize for very quickly.
First of all, when Ozzy passed, I made some kind of snide comment that he's
never made any good albums.
And very quickly, many people jumped on me for saying that's not true and that
the first...
I think I said the first Black Sabbath album is cool, great, whatever.
It's not my thing, but they said the first three Black Sabbath albums are great.
And I can't say that I know that to be true for myself personally, but I will
acknowledge that.
Three!
Again, I say shit.
I'm not here to defend everything I say.
And you're right.
It's a bad take.
Secondly...
I like four.
Lots of synths.
It's a cool album.
I like four.
I like his Christmas record.
No, not that.
You know that?
No, we don't like...
We actually don't like that.
That's my favorite.
That's the best one.
Wait, is there actually like synths on his fourth one?
Is it for real?
Black Sabbath 4, yeah.
I didn't know that.
What's that?
I thought you were messing with me.
It was a great song.
That's kind of cool.
What's it?
Was it like late 70s?
Yeah, the pounding song.
Okay.
Anyways, we'll get back to that.
Secondly, we had a food influence road.
Changes.
Changes.
Yeah, I was moving on.
It's a great song.
It's still crispy in the middle.
Changes.
I'm going through changes.
Oh, yeah.
I'm going through changes.
That's a great song.
That's Black Sabbath.
I thought that was Poison.
Black Sabbath 4.
I thought that was Ozzy solo.
It was their come down from the years of drinking and drugging.
But he was still drinking and drugging.
Sure.
Was he snorting ants?
A little less.
You hear that story about he snorted ants?
Oh, yeah.
It was in the break video last week.
And then he pisses and he snorts his own piss.
I guess he died of a heart attack this time.
Really?
So did Hulk Hogan.
These vaccines.
Wow.
You know, we forgot one other quick promo.
We're going to be in Los Feliz on August 27th to present you.
Is that Los Feliz?
Or I thought it's at the Arrow?
No, it's the American Cinematheque.
Yeah.
I thought that's at the Arrow Theater.
Oh, I could be wrong.
It's in Los Angeles.
I think it's Los Feliz.
You explain.
Los Feliz.
You want to explain, Tim?
We're showing the movie UHF.
Or UHF.
No, it's called UHF, actually.
UHF.
We're presenting it.
This American Cinematheque.
Cinematheque.
Great film organization.
They always do his legacy screenings, whatever you call them, retrospectives.
And they're doing a bunch of, they've asked a bunch of people to program, and
we picked UHF.
We're friends of the fest.
Friends of the fest.
Okay.
We each wrote our favorite top films, and Vic and I happened to have.
That happens to be in the same way.
I did not include UHF.
Well, you're right.
It is Arrow Theater.
It's the Arrow Theater.
They have a film print.
It's a print of it, right?
Yeah, yeah.
It's a 35 millimeter print.
How cool is that?
Rare.
Where's this Arrow Theater?
Santa Monica.
Oh, my God.
Oh, it's Santa Monica?
Can we back up?
No, it's not.
I didn't realize that.
Guys, if you're not familiar with the area, it's like going from, let's say if
you live in
Philadelphia, it's like going to Pittsburgh.
Secondly, the other thing is the Very Good Band is back in the road for one
weekend only this
fall, this summer.
It's happening here in Los Angeles, August 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
We got the Lodge Room in LA, and we got San Diego, Cosba, and Las Vegas, which
is confusingly,
there's a location there called Brooklyn Bowl.
And I know a lot of people there are wondering, well, where is it?
Rock it, man.
Yeah.
I was looking for that, the Sons of the Beatles.
Brooklyn!
Wait, are we playing?
Is it the Brooklyn Bowl?
That's the venue.
Oh, I didn't.
I was trying to figure that out.
I think the Brooklyn Bowl started in Brooklyn, and then they franchised it.
I know.
Yeah, because we also played at the Philly one.
The Philly one.
And the best thing is they gave us free Brooklyn Bowl socks, and I still wear
them to this day.
The Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia.
Yeah, the Philly one, yeah.
All right.
Why don't we take a Zoom?
Why don't we get it?
Why don't we end the show?
Can we bowl there?
I think so, yeah.
One more thing I wanted to say.
We're a piece of business.
That top, nope.
Oh, apologies.
Did you apologize?
I apologize.
Oh, apologies.
Oh, yeah, you gotta apologize.
Yeah, second apology.
Last week, we had a food influencer on here, Jay Weingarten.
And it was, you know, very nice.
He brought in some gifts and everything.
But, you know, he went on and sort of simped for Elon Musk.
I'm sorry.
And I just thought it was over the line and unacceptable and rude and ignorant.
I like to laugh when it is necessary.
You know, Jay should know better.
Let's just say that.
Jay should have known better.
You know, I saw his shit online where he's apologized and said he's learning
and listening and everything.
That's great.
But there's more to, I think there's more to it than just apologizing, which is
what I'm doing now.
But you got to do the work.
And I don't think we'll have him on anytime soon.
We all can grow and we all can learn.
Dumb bastard.
Until we see some actual growth.
So shame on Jay Weingarten.
And I apologize to my audience for subjecting them to that.
Okay?
We all can grow and we all can learn.
Dumb bastard.
The pounded.
No, he is a dumb, I mean, he is a dumb bastard.
Dumb bastard?
Because he should know.
Sick bastard.
I'm just tired of it.
Yikes.
Yeah.
All right.
We got some big news.
Yeah, we're going to have a Zoomer.
Throughout the show, the breaking news today is the Riyadh Comedy Festival.
Matt, can we just throw up that real quick?
Because this will be running through the show.
The Riyadh?
Where's Riyadh, Vic?
Saudi Arabia.
Yeah.
The land of freedom.
The land of sand.
Sandland.
Oh, yeah, here we go.
There's a sandman going to be there.
And a lot of our friends are on this.
A lot of famous comedians have signed up to be part of these Riyadh Comedy
Festival.
But catching a lot of flack, folks, I have to admit.
Catching a lot of flack are people because, of course, the human rights abuses
of the Saudi
government is pretty well-established and extreme.
So we're hoping, you know, some of these people come to their senses and say,
listen, the money's terrific, but let's, let's, you know, think about this in a
long, long-term
strategy.
Oh, Matt, we'll see something to work there.
I mean, flights are only 900, starting at 900.
All right.
So let's take, we'll be updating you on it if anybody drops out or if there's
any changes
in the schedule.
Should we read any of their names so people know who's in it?
That's true because it is an audio podcast, Matt.
Yeah, right?
Who do we have headlining?
We've got Tom Segura, friend of the show.
That's just a photo, too.
It doesn't say their name, does it?
No, just a photo.
You gotta kind of guess who some of these are.
I can't figure out those cartoons.
Hannibal Buress.
Fluffy.
Bill Burr.
That's a weird one, right?
Because Bill Burr seems like he's carved himself out a different path where he
doesn't have
to do this kind of crap.
Whitney Cummings.
Andrew Schultz.
Who's that guy screaming up top?
I think that's, what's his face?
What's his name again?
It's Kurt Metzger.
No, it's also Tom Segura.
Yeah, yeah.
With those cartoon guys.
It's true, there's four Seguras.
I think, isn't that Andrew Santino?
Is that who that is?
Bobby Lee.
Oh, okay.
Aziz.
Who's bottom left?
Maz Jobrani.
Who's that?
I mean, there's probably an international quality.
Hopefully there is because it's like, we're not the center of the universe here.
All right, Matt, should we take a Zoomer?
Yeah, let's talk to, this is pretty cool.
There's an actual clown, Gilly.
What?
Oh, hi there.
Hey, everybody, am I on?
Yes, hi.
Oh, yes, I like this.
Oh, hey.
Hey.
Pretty cool.
Well, I gotta say, I'm kind of sad today.
Oh, no, what happened?
Yeah, well, I'm sad because no one remembered that it's Vic's birthday.
What?
What?
Yeah.
It is not.
Is it really?
Is it really?
Oh, my God.
Vic, why don't you sing?
Yeah.
Keeping quiet.
Oh, my goodness.
You know what?
I don't have it in my thing, in my calendar.
It is your birthday?
Oh, no.
Oh, my God.
It is.
That's on me.
What?
43 years ago, I was born.
But I wasn't celebrating today.
I'm sorry, Vic.
We should have done something for the show.
It's okay.
Well, maybe we can sing a song now, yeah?
Yeah?
Yeah.
Is that okay?
Well, I'll start off on three.
Ready?
Here we go.
Let me get my horn ready.
One, two, three.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday.
Whoa, whoa, wait, wait! What the fuck is going on here? Oh fuck! Where is this
guy? No, get up! Get down, everybody! Get down! Oh shit! Hey! Hey, hey, hey,
hey!
Gilly, ste
