A great hang wit Todd Glass (Episode 354)

I don't know what's real.
All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are live.
And it is time for another episode of Office Hours.
It is, what is it, August, what?
Get out.
Matt, double check my calendar here.
You can tell.
Because the time flies.
It is August 28th, 10.03 now.
Get out of town.
In the morning.
You get five, you get two.
On the West Coast.
What's that?
Uh-huh.
Oh.
You get ten, you get five, you get two.
Right.
You get ten.
You get ten.
Twelve.
No, it's ten.
It's 10.03.
Thank God it feels like the heat wave is cooling just a little bit,
but I'm sure that will change as the hours pass.
It's a bit overcast right now, and it's beautiful.
But, do me a favor.
Call in today and let me know what the hell the weather's like where you're at.
Is it still hot out there?
Is it still hot out there?
We're going to have fun today.
A very good friend, an old friend, a guy that's just one of the great legends
of comedy.
Still alive.
Todd Glass.
Todd Glass is here.
Identify yourself.
Hello.
Good morning to you.
Good morning, good morning.
It's great to have you in the studio, finally.
I'm in the presence of a lot of great people.
I'm happy to be here.
Very nice.
And hello.
Hello.
And we'll get back to you in a minute.
Do you just be comfortable?
Let me know if you need anything.
I'm very comfortable.
And DJ, Doug Pound, reporting for duty.
Good horning.
Tricked ya.
Didn't trick me.
How dare you.
Excuse me.
That's okay.
That was good.
Is there a cough button?
There is none.
You're going to have to announce that.
I have to.
Vic Berger, welcome to you.
What's up, everybody?
Where'd you get that?
My friend Jared Sheik sent me that.
Okay.
Is that a new item?
I've had it for a couple months, but I just haven't brought it in here yet.
Get on that mic, Vic.
I haven't brought it in yet.
I don't like him too much on that mic.
I'm trying to lay it back and I get told about it.
How's this?
Oh, boy.
My friend Jared Sheik gave it to me.
You know what we should have as a boom operator on this show and just walking
around?
Just for Vic.
I'll do that.
Let's start.
Captain Carlin, how are you this morning?
I'm great.
We had a great night last night.
Oh, go ahead.
We had a great night, so I'm still feeling great.
Yeah, we had a-
He's a worm, dude.
Screening of-
Call me Dr. Worm.
Screening of the film UHF.
Remember the film UHF, Todd?
No.
No?
This is Weird Al Yankovic's one and only movie.
Oh, okay.
I like Weird Al.
He made that biopic a few years ago.
That was funny.
He's not really in it.
First movie, the biopic.
Is he not in it?
That's right.
It's Daniel Ramsey.
No, he has a cameo.
He has a cameo.
Right.
He's not the star of the film.
I saw Dr. Demento.
Did you see his cameo in UHF?
He did see that he was in there at the fire hose scene and he's feeding him
cake.
He was in the back of the fire hose.
I know.
I saw him before I even-
Uh-huh.
He was in the crowd.
That's so cool.
Dr. Demento sat right there.
Nope.
Yeah.
How old is he?
Smell him.
Dr. Demento is 293 years old.
He looks good.
He was not-
Yeah.
He's nothing up to his name.
That was an interesting experience.
A good doctor.
He was great.
For a guy named Dr. Demento, he wasn't all that demented.
He was-
We were looking for a little more demented.
He was just like, yeah, this is what I did and put these records out and like
very down the middle.
End up very old, very old.
Many are saying he's the oldest doctor alive.
No, we had a screening at the Arrow Theater in Santa Monica yesterday.
It was sold out, I believe.
It seemed like it was sold out.
And Doug and Vic and I went up there and did a little material, a little goofing
around.
Vic brought some trivia, some UHF trivia.
Did you know that about the guy that was the homeless guy?
Was it supposed to be Ginger Baker?
It was supposed to be Ginger Baker.
He auditioned for it.
Yeah, from Cream, the drummer from Cream.
What was he doing?
Living in LA?
I don't know what was going on.
Auditions?
Must have been a bad time for him.
Whoever they got was incredible.
He was perfect, that dude.
I thought that movie was cast perfectly.
I know, perfect.
What's her name?
Victory Jackson?
Victoria Jackson.
She's great in it.
She's great in it.
Yeah, I love everybody.
And she was a snack.
Woo-hoo!
Glad you said it, Doug.
I felt the same way.
I kind of fell in love with Victoria Jackson.
Yeah, we all did a little bit.
Yeah, 1989.
From, from...
Best of SNL.
Oh, that?
Oh, Victoria Jackson.
Can you talk like this?
Ow!
She's gone off the deep end lately.
She went nuts, though.
Oh, right, right.
She became a big Trumpster.
No!
No!
Multiple more babies.
I would go back in time and marry Victoria Jackson.
Change her ways.
Change her life.
Yeah.
Her trajectory.
I had a beat off.
Easy now.
Hey, come on.
Actually, Fran Drescher was maybe more of a snack.
Oh, yeah, she was great in it.
Fran Drescher's in the movie.
You know what's funny about her?
She's like a nice character in that movie.
She's like a sympathetic...
She doesn't have the sass that you know Fran Drescher for.
You're waiting for her to get some zings in,
and she's just kind of like an Annie Potts character.
And their voice is just not...
Well, no, it is.
She does have the tone,
but she doesn't have any zingers.
Right.
She's just kind of like, could be kind of any...
Well, in the beginning, she does.
She gets it to the bad guy a little bit.
Yeah, maybe.
I'm going to get shit for this now.
Go ahead, Todd.
No, no, no.
You're going to cough?
I'm afraid now.
Now I'm afraid.
And Kramer is in.
To cough.
Oh, don't worry about it.
Look at this guy coughs through the whole show.
Don't worry about it.
Oh, that was the best will.
Hey, will you cough sometimes?
I have a cough.
Oh, no.
Well, Luke, we can...
When he starts coughing, we can mute him, right?
We're just placing them aloud, like, 20 people coughing.
Don't you have a drop with...
Come on, Vic.
You must have a drop of 20 people coughing.
I got to have this somewhere.
I love that.
Somewhere.
Why do I love drops?
I love sound.
Now that I watch things, I hear them in...
In other...
I'm like, we've got to remember that.
We've got to pull that.
Yeah.
Pull that.
Because you can...
It's like memes.
It's like you can communicate through them.
They're great.
I was listening to a show yesterday and the drops.
I'm like, oh, why do I love drops so much?
A lot of people do.
They're fun.
Sometimes it interrupts my flow.
I know.
But that's fun, too.
I know.
Doug's drops.
Now we're going to get a lot of them because they're just trying to play to you.
Shut up.
What do you have in a 401k?
Tim just went like this to me.
What do you have in a defined benefit?
What do you have in a...
Are you good?
We got them all out.
Clear the cache.
Get them out.
No, I love them, too, of course.
I have to promote two quick things and then we can start the show.
Oh, you just put a...
What did you do?
You put a PBD on my screen right away.
But I like that.
That shouldn't be on your screen yet.
I'm just finding my...
I'm just downloading.
Take that off Tim's screen.
That's okay.
Go ahead.
Do your promos.
I'm waiting for some clear...
I'm waiting for the...
This is this guy, Patrick Bet-David.
We're going to talk to...
Oh, you want to turn it down?
Turn it off.
Yeah, baby.
I want to take a picture of...
Put your fingers back down there.
I want to put a poll up and say,
Is he turning it up or turning it down?
Yes.
That's Patrick Bet-David, who's this...
We'll get to him later, but this is him.
This is his show.
Trying to find some...
He's reading something online.
Listen to this drop.
There's no way he's processing any of that.
He's like reading through something, trying to find something.
Anyways.
All right.
We hear it.
We've heard it.
We've heard it several times.
We'll get to it, by the way.
So Todd's here for the whole show.
I'm excited to talk about...
He's got some shows in New York coming up that we want to definitely tell
everybody about.
Let's just do that right now, and then we'll do it again.
Don't be in a hurry because I'm here.
I'm enjoying it.
If you need to get some stuff out of the way and then come to me, good to go.
Well, Toddglass.com is where you're going to find that information anyway.
Thank you, sir.
Another website to check out, marionswish.com.
You're going to love this, Todd.
Marions, M-A-R-I-O-N-S, wish.com.
We're launching it.
We launched it already, but next Wednesday will be the first week of new stuff.
And Todd, for the past 13 years, me, Greg Turkington, who I'm sure you know,
Mark Proch.
Do you know Mark Proch?
Maybe not.
Maybe not.
You'll recognize him.
He's a genius.
He and I and Greg have had a text thread going for 15 years that is legendary
in my head.
But amongst others, it's been a private thing, but it's very, very funny and
very rude and crude
and disgusting and it just goes on and on and on and on and on.
We have thousands of pages of this stuff.
We are beginning to release them going back 15 years.
We're going to be releasing them almost like the Epstein files in a way.
Yeah, but you don't want to get any innocent people in trouble.
No, we're going to redact many things.
Release them in what form?
Well, if you go to marionswish.com, sign up, you'll get them as a weekly
newsletter.
In sort of serialized form.
Yeah, you can look at the first one here, Marian's Wish.
Then we put one of these out as an e-book during the pandemic.
And Matt, if you click on, you're not signed up probably, but if you click on
Marian's Wish
original e-book, go ahead.
Go ahead.
Now, it's taken a little time to load.
And then it's basically like a little sketch, a story.
It's a story.
It's the thread.
I love it.
And so every week you'll sign up and you'll get a new one in your mailbox or
you can go
to your Gmail, your Chrome or Safari.
You know, it's really the purest form of comedy because you're just for you
guys.
Yes, yes.
And it's beautiful.
Yes.
And it took us a while to decide to do this.
And we are going to go and edit things and it's not just going to be this
complete dump.
Right.
It's going to, right?
I said dump.
I don't know what's going on back there.
Real quick.
Yeah.
This comedian, Blake Wexler, said he saved all my messages.
And a lot of times people say that, but then you ask them, they go, I went into
my computer,
but that drive I threw out.
What do you mean messages?
Like text messages?
Voice messages.
Voice messages.
When you left voice messages.
Yeah.
It's like five years ago.
So we put them out.
Ten messages, ten years of messages from Todd Glass to Blake Wexler.
Really?
And one or two we didn't put in there.
Yeah, for sure.
But there's even one the day Trump won.
And we go, should we put this in?
I go, it's between me and you.
And I went, Blake, this is fucking worse than 9-11.
Yeah, yeah.
And it was just...
That's on the message?
That's on the message.
Right, right.
And we put in the beeps, even though there were none, just because it makes it
funnier.
Right, right.
But I realized, I go, it was just for us.
And then we released, so this is sort of like, I love it, I love it.
When you were calling him, were you, like, knowing you were going to get the
machine?
You know what?
When he told me he was saving them, there's a message to me going, Blake, now I
know you
saved these.
I know, now I'm aware of it.
So now you're playing to that a little bit.
So I'm playing to it a little, but then I would forget a little, but yeah, yeah.
There was, like, towards the last 12, I was aware he was recording them.
Right.
And saving them.
I knew they were going on recording.
Right.
I just didn't know he was saving them.
Right.
I have a, not to keep going down this road, but I have a recording of me, there's
a recording
of me speaking to 9-11, there's a recording of me telling my friend on his
machine what
I'm seeing, because I was down, I was like in Brooklyn at the time, and I could
see the
towers on fire.
And I'm leaving a message for my friend as I see the second plane hit.
And so you hear me on, you've heard that, right, M
