Welcome to another exciting edition of R U Garbage,
the show where you find out if your favorite comedians are classy individuals
or absolute trash.
Now, here are your hosts, Kevin Ryan and H. Foley.
Hey, everybody out there, and welcome back to everybody's favorite new podcast.
This is R U Garbage.
It's a little show we sit down with your favorite
favorite comedians, and we find it after the group to be classy.
Yeah.
Or if they're just a big old piece of trash.
I'm your host, Ace Foley, coming at you on a beautiful day.
We're down here at Antony's basement.
She is unfortunately going to be upstate for a couple of weeks.
Oh, no.
What happened?
She's fishing, which is what they call scalping out new prisoners at Sing Sing,
because that's
where she is.
I don't want to get into it.
She said she wasn't going to roll on us when I talked to her on the phone, but
then I heard
her say to somebody not on the phone, did you get all that?
So we could be in a little bit of trouble.
I think I like the shorter ones.
My co-host is coming at you from right next to me.
He is the CEO of R U Garbage.
Bit of an international businessman.
Sure.
He's my best pal in the whole wide world, and I love him.
Give it up for KJ, Kevin James Ryan.
Love you too, buddy.
That was beautiful, by the way.
Yeah.
I couldn't even get through that, really.
What's up, everybody?
Thanks for tuning in.
And completely insincere.
Thanks for tuning in.

Give it up for T-Bone McMuffin, Kobe McMullen, everybody.
What's up, dudes?
What's up, buttons?
Nothing, dude.
While this is air and we're out in California, and I'm getting called a poser
by real dudes.
Getting beat up by teenagers on Santa Monica Boulevard.
You guys do a kickflip?
What's up?
This guy's a cop, man.
Gang, that's neither here nor there, because we could not be more excited to
have our incredibly
special guest here with us today for the first time.
We got a little internet star power.
A little tight little body.
I'll tell you that right now.
Good looking kid.
A very successful, very funny comedian, YouTuber, and podcaster.
Of course, he is the host of the amazing podcast, The Basement Yard, the co-creator
of the
board game Speak Out.
He has multiple YouTube channels, totaling subscriber base.
You ready for this?
Something true to roof, I bet.
3,363,000 subscribers with hundreds upon hundreds of millions of views.
But the big question in my mind today, is he garbage?
I don't know about all that, but I do know two things.
He's got a little bit of cash, and the kid's a fucking looker.
He's paying that right now.
He is.
He's fucking young, he's hot, he's successful, he's smart.
I don't know what's going on inside of me right now.
He's got some jewelry, cool tattoos.
Give me a favor, gang.
Give me a nice big round of applause for Joe Santagato, everybody.
Thank you, guys.
Let him hear it.
One of the greatest intros of all time, honestly.
Thank you.
Big man likes an intro.
I'm fucking gassed up now.
Three million?
I was like, I don't even know how many this is.
You're gassed up.
I haven't been able to think since you walked in the room.
It'd be great if you heard a 3.3 million.
He goes, what the fuck am I doing here?
I'm just trying to think if you got a t-shirt underneath that sweater.
I walked in.
I was like, am I in the right place?
I feel like I'm not in the right place.
You here for the union job?
Buddy, thank you so much for coming and sitting down with us.
No, yeah, I'm excited.
I don't know how, but I got a DM from you guys.
It's like, hey, you want to come on the show?
It's like six months ago, and I just didn't even fucking...
He finally got back to me.
He's like, oh, yeah, I'll do it.
He's like, awesome, let's go.
I didn't see it.
I pull that move all the time.
Yeah, I just see it.
The message request, leave it on scene.
Oh, I just saw this.
Sorry about that.
We got it down.
What is the backstory, Joe?
Where are you from?
Give us the whole scoop.
Queens kid.
I grew up in Astoria, Queens.
What?
Where the boys live.
Is that where you're from?
Oh, you live there now.
Let me tell you, the bedbugs in Queens are top notch.
They are.
Also, the movie theater out in there, they're famous for their bedbugs.
What, Kaufman?
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah, they were like, we got bedbugs.
It's like, I'm still going to see Batman.
What are we doing here?
I'm still going to get jerked off there.
I don't care about the bedbugs.
It's a good trade-off.
Hey, they got a good claw machine.
What do you mean to tell you?
Great claw machine, honestly.
They do.
They really do.
Everybody wins at that one.
Yeah.
It's fantastic.
They have the little duckies in there.
You always get one.
So you grew up in Astoria.
That's where I live now.
Been living there for a long time.
Gentrifying the place.
Oh, yeah.
Big time.
Give us the scoop.
I mean, how long have you been there?
I lived there when I lived in New York.
He's moved around a little bit.
He's not big with leases, if you catch my drift here, Joe.
The halfway houses count?
I don't know.
Bikers is there.
Is that what you're talking about?
Bikers is technically Queen.
Yeah, but you can't beat the views.
You know what I'm saying?
The whole city.
No, I lived out there on Dip Mars when I lived up here in New York the first
time.
A girlfriend of mine was living out there, and I lived with her for a little
while, probably
2000, 2001.
And then when I moved up here to do comedy, I've been out there since, what,
2016, I would
say.
Oh, okay.
Cool.
Yeah.
Dip Mars was the first place that I felt like home away from home.
And this was back in the day when it was just Kate Clytus out there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was going to say, because when I grew up there, there was just like a giant,
giant hardware store.
Yeah.
It's like, who's buying all these screws?
Yeah, what are we doing?
It's like, you know, what's going on?
But they shut them all down recently, and now it's just like there's a bunch of
cafes
and whatever.
Yeah, it's all popping up.
It's popping over there, man.
It's fucking fantastic.
Yeah.
Like Toby said, the bed bugs.
When you were there in 2001, great year, by the way, that was when it was still
old
and everything was like, you know, they shut them all down, though.
And now it's just like there's a bunch of bars there.
It's actually a place to be.
I remember probably around 2016, 2017, when they started changing everything,
someone had
hit me up and was like, oh, I'm coming to Astoria to hang out.
And I remember thinking like, what the fuck?
Like, there's nowhere to be.
What the deal was happening?
What, are you got a gang fight out here?
But now it's nice.
It's a nice place to be.
I live right over there, too.
It was nice growing up for you out there, though.
I imagine it was quiet.
It was...
Yeah, I lived like on the Dittmar side, but a little further away from the
train.
So I was like...
How far down were you?
I was like on the border of like where Jackson Heights is, sort of.
Like, I was like right in the middle from like...
Out there, yeah.
Getting to the train and getting to Jackson Heights is like the same amount.
It's like near the Steinway...
Border kids, no good.
I hate to say that right now.
No, but like Steinway...
Anytime they can't just say exactly where they're from, it's a tough one.
I was trying to address...
The one year we were over, it was considered Jackson Heights.
Did you grow up in a house, an apartment?
No, it was a house.
It was a house?
Mom, dad, brothers, sisters?
Mom and dad hate each other, so...
Classic.
You know.
Dad's in North Carolina now.
I haven't seen him in years.
He's right on the border, though, down there.
South, North and South Carolina.
Exactly.
He doesn't give you his address?
I don't even know if he's in North Carolina.
He could be in Europe by now.
What's your background?
What's your family background?
What do you mean by that?
Like Italian.
Oh, yeah, we're Italian.
He's Polish.
What the fuck?
Yeah, no.
White as can be.
Italian, Irish.
But I'm really, like, I have no cultural anything.
You know what I mean?
You're not wearing the horn.
Yeah, no, and there was never, like, a pair of, like, Italian boxing gloves in
my rearview
or anything like that.
No picture of the Pope hanging up in the kitchen?
No one in my family has, like, a cross with the praying hands.
Sure.
The praying hands around.
That's a big dirtbag tat.
With a rose, with a bad rosary wrapped around.
Yeah, this is a rosary beads around it.
When did your parents split?
Uh, I don't know.
When you were a kid?
Yeah, I was probably, like, 15, 16 or something like that.
Okay.
All right.
And brothers and sisters?
Yeah, I have three.
I have two brothers and one sister.
Okay.
So I have three siblings.
They're all older than I am.
Oh, you're the youngest.
Oh, baby.
Oh, that's nice.
The attention seeker.
Of course.
Buddy.
Everybody here.
We're all the youngest.
We're all tap dancing for it.
Uh, what'd your parents do growing up?
What'd your mom and dad do?
Uh, my dad was a fireman.
Wow.
Nice.
New York.
Real New York guy.
I think, and before, I mean, he also had, like, a construction company.
I'm not really doing myself any favors with that.
But he did roofing on his side.
He had his own construction company and he was a fireman.
And moonlighted as a bouncer.
But he, uh, yeah, so he was a fireman and he had that also.
And then my mom, when we were old enough, she went back to school and then she
worked as a secretary.
She actually just retired last year.
Yeah.
Oh, very nice.
Good for her.
He's living it up right now.
And you really, you don't have much of a relationship with your pop from back
then.
No, I mean, I do.
I would know.
I like joke around.
But, like, he moved to Maryland for a little bit and then he went to North
Carolina.
But I was just on the phone with him earlier.
Like, we still have, like, a good relationship.
But, like, like I said, he's in North Carolina.
I just don't see him very often.
But your mom, for all intents and purposes, she raised you.
Yeah, I mean, they both raised me.
I mean, like, they, they, my dad stopped living with us when I was, like, 16
years old.
Uh-huh.
And, like, I'm, you know, I'm being dramatic about it.
But, like, they, uh, yeah, my mom was always around.
She still lives in the same house that we grew up in.
Really?
Yeah.
What grocery store did she go to out there?
There was fucking wall bounds for a little bit.
Whoa.
And then there, now it's, like, some Russian shit or, or, uh, it's called, like.
Hey, we're Ukraine.
We're team Ukraine over here, all right?
Take that commie shit elsewhere, Santagato.
It's, like, Lidl, Lidl.
What is that?
Uh, uh.
Oh, oh, no.
It's German.
Some Russian shit.
I know exactly what you're talking about.
Lidl.
German, Russian, is there really a difference?
That's how Queens is doing
