Hi everybody, welcome to On Cinema. My name is Tim Heidecker. You're listening
to my podcast where I talk about my favorite movies, some movies maybe I'm not
even that familiar with, and just a cinema podcast. I mean, it's right there in
the title, On Cinema.
So, before we get into the show, I wanted to make a little, just share this
with you because it came to me. I was driving home from the, I was going to the
grocery store this morning and I stopped in at the gas station and I went to go
fill up my tank and it cost me $53 to fill up my car.
It cost me $53 and I drive a Ford Escape. So, just to give you an idea, that's
about two weeks of driving and it's $53. And I don't know, I mean, we're not
even in the summertime yet when gas prices spike.
So, anyway, I don't know where this is all going. Obviously, it's a big problem
and I just can't imagine how anybody can afford to drive anywhere anymore. Anyhow,
my guest today is a film buff, a guest on the show frequently, Greg Turkington.
Hey guys, all that talk about gasoline. I kind of wondered if our film today
was the cannonball run, which is a great movie about cars. And I don't know if
they could make it today, if it's true what you're saying about the gas prices.
A film today is Ice Age, which is an animated film from the folks that brought
you Shrek. And it's for kids, but it's, I think, which in the case of a lot of
movies these days, the kids' movies are also written, obviously by adults, but
they're written for an adult audience as well.
Mm-hmm. Yeah, this is a kids' movie. I mean, it's a cartoon, it's animated, and
it was quite successful. They don't really recognize movies like this at the
Oscars, and they really shouldn't. Maybe there should be an Oscars for kids'
films. That could be fun.
Well, I do definitely know they do have a Best Animated Picture category at the
Oscars, so in that sense, they do honor movies like this.
And this one is different, though, from some of your normal kids' movies
because it's about the past. It's about during the Ice Age, during the millions
of years ago.
Or the dinosaurs. And, yeah, and, you know, learn a little bit, kids, while you're
watching a cartoon. Maybe learn about the dinosaurs and the Ice Age, and there's
nothing wrong with that.
All right, so that's Ice Age.
Good for them.
Ice Age is on TV all the time, and it's on Netflix and in the, I guess you can
get it at Target and everywhere.
Anyways, that's Ice Age. Thanks for coming on, Greg. And call your congressman,
you know, and say, we want lower gas prices. Thanks for listening.
