Thank you.

Oh God.
What time is Mark getting here?
What time is Mark getting here?
I don't know.
He's on his way.
He's on his way.
All right.
And has anyone heard from Tim?
Not yet.
Okay.
Because he's sending some kind of shitty taxes.
All right.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Hey guys.
Welcome to the first annual R Cinema Oscar special.
If you are waiting to see the on cinema special, the fifth annual on cinema
special, that's
not happening this year.
That will return next year and we'll probably also be doing the second R Cinema
simultaneously.
So that's going to be interesting.
This year we've got a great lineup of guests, Joe Estevez is going to call in,
John Aprea
is going to call in, Jimmy McNichol is slated to call in a little bit later and
we've got
some live surprises, some movie trivia games, chances to win, and some
information about
tonight's Oscars.
Now this is the 89th Academy Awards and for those that haven't watched every
year, they're
great every year and this one's going to be the best yet.
The best pictures this year, Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water,
Hidden Figures,
La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, and Moonlight.
Now if something strikes you as funny about that, there is something funny
about that.
All of those pictures are alphabetically between the letters of A and M,
leading me to figure
that somebody goofed somewhere along the way and didn't submit all the titles.
There were several great movies, movies that have won other film awards like
the Golden Globes,
that started with letters between N and Z, yet none of them made it to the list
for best
picture for the Oscars.
So we're going to get to the bottom of that theory a little bit later.
Also interesting if you look at the best actors, they're all for movies that
started between
A and M. If you look at the best actor, best director, best actress, and best
supporting
actress, and best supporting actor, none of those movies go past the letter M.
So Oscars
made a mistake with their ballots this year.
There was clearly some information on some movies that are deserving of awards
that didn't make
the list.
The good news is, is that there is a write-in ballot available, and so some of
those movies
that start with later letters like Star Wars Rogue One, for instance, or Sully,
definitely
still have a chance of winning.
Now our first guest tonight is going to be someone who's a big part of the On
Cinema family.
He's been seen on Decker Seasons 1, 2, 3, Decker vs. Dracula, and Decker Season
4, Decker
Declassified, and we love his segments on Cinema, of course.
We're talking about our good friend, Mark Pruksh, who's here to provide some
color commentary
and talk about the good old days of cinema.
Mark.
Hi, Greg.
Sorry I was a little late.
Normally.
I brought us the refreshments you asked for.
It's not the soda you wanted, but I did get these at Staples.
A funny story about how I got these is I had to get the toner for my printer,
and my printer
is older, and so the toner's in the closeout section.
These were in that closeout section, and they were free because they were free
because if
they can't, they couldn't scan it.
They couldn't find them in their computer, and so if they can't find them in
the computer,
they give them to you for free.
That's their policy.
So this was a closed out item because it didn't sell or it was expired or.
Sorry.
Please don't call in during the show.
Sorry.
Please don't call in during the show.
Sorry.
Please don't call in during the show.
Well.
They'll call back.
It's Tim.
Oh.
He didn't waste any time.
No, he didn't.
In meddling with the show.
I don't know.
Sorry.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Sorry.
Please don't call in during the show.
I don't know.
Well, they'll call back.
It's Tim.
Oh.
He didn't waste any time.
No, he didn't.
In meddling with the show.
He can't operate a phone probably.
Well, he's not.
There's nothing.
He's in the Middle East, so it's probably dropping his call.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
I'm interrupting.
I'm interrupting.
I'm interrupting.
Shut up.
I'm interrupting.
Shut up.
Anyway, it, yeah, they, it's their policy.
They just, they'll give it to you for free and I don't know if, I don't know
how they got there.
They didn't say, I didn't ask.
Who are you looking at for best actor tonight?
Casey Affleck?
Manchester by the Sea.
Andrew Garfield, Hack Shaw Ridge.
Ryan Gosling.
Who are you looking at for best actor tonight?
Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea.
Andrew Garfield, Hack Shaw Ridge.
Ryan Gosling.
La La Land.
Viggo Mortensen.
Of course, from Captain Fantastic.
And, Dental.
I'm interrupting.
I'm interrupting.
Shut up.
Anyway, it, yeah, they, it's their policy.
They just, they'll give it to you for free.
And, I don't know if, I don't know how they got there.
They didn't say, I didn't ask.
Who are you looking at for best actor tonight?
Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea.
Andrew Garfield, Hack Shaw Ridge.
Ryan Gosling.
La La Land.
Viggo Mortensen.
Of course, from Captain Fantastic.
Denzel Washington.
Fences.
Again, none of these movies go past the letter M.
Yeah, I found that strange when you told me about that a little bit earlier.
I, I haven't, I didn't see most of those.
So, but I know of Denzel Washington.
I think he's a great actor.
So, I'm going to go for him.
Well, Sully, Sully, Star Trek Beyond, Suicide Squad.
Uh, Rogue One.
20th Century Women.
These are all movies that start with letters past M.
And that were strangely eliminated.
Zootopia would be at the very end of the list alphabetically.
Yeah.
Strangely, um, eliminated from contention.
Um, this is something that I think Oscar needs to address.
Last year it was Oscar, so white.
This year it's Oscar, so A through M.
M.
It's Tim, but I don't know.
It's going to be all night.
He shouldn't really, if he wanted to do this, he should have just been here for
the special.
Now, we, um, we're not given, uh, the budget or the crew that we would get for
the on-cinema special.
However, uh, on the good side we don't have Dakar or DKR here.
We're just going to talk movies.
I can't wait.
Mm-hmm.
And, uh, what's your favorite movie of the year or of any year?
Uh, I, I really liked, uh, Sneakers.
It's probably my all-time favorite, um, movie of all time.
Um, I also like, um, the, uh, what's the, the one with Ashton Kutcher?
Uh, that 70s show.
I like that show.
Well, I like the TV show, and it's not a movie.
This isn't the Golden Globes.
The difference between the Golden Globes and the Oscars for all you, uh, awards
buffs,
is that Golden Globes, unlike the Oscars, will give awards to TV shows, to
music, to movies,
any form of entertainment.
Whereas the Oscars is a movie night, and it's movies only.
So, if movies are your thing, this is the night to tune in, and not the Golden
Globes,
or the People's Choice is another one that I wouldn't, uh, bother with.
Yeah, no, I mean, for me, I, I guess it's just, I like Sneakers.
I like Sneakers a lot.
Have, have you heard any of these songs for Best Original Song?
Audition, Don't Stop the Feeling, City of Stars, Empty Chair, How Far I'll Go.
I like, uh, I'm partial to like oldies, so I don't know too much about these.
Um, what, what, what were they again?
Original Song, you said?
Um, Can't Stop, oh, Can't Stop the Feeling from Trolls.
I really did like, I enjoyed Trolls.
Uh, that was the only one.
I mean, I didn't see any of these other songs.
Um, we're gonna do a tribute tonight.
This is one of the many segments we have planned for the, for this year.
For our cinema.
This is a tribute to, uh, Oscar nominees that, uh, fell just under the radar
and didn't get the award.
Uh, there are nominees that, that could have won, but they didn't win.
And so, uh, can you hold that?
Yeah.
So these are nominees.
I guess these are called Oscar runner-ups.
These would be people that were nominated for an award, but through chance or
fate, or maybe just they didn't, they weren't as good as the winners that year.
Um, they didn't win.
So, they're, they came very close to taking home Oscar gold, but in the end.
Alright, can we just cut, just to clean this up and then we'll be right back
with more Oscar.
Um, no we can't?
Okay.
So, these are Oscars, people that, um, they had their moment to shine and it
didn't work.
They didn't win the Oscar.
So they're nominees that may have been forgotten.
But if they had just done a little bit better, they would have not been
forgotten because then they would have won the Oscar.
Hmm.
Okay.
So we're going to look at a few of these.
The first one, um, is HB Warner from, uh, 1937's Lost Horizon.
Can you get a picture of HB?
Yeah, it dropped.
Can we get HB Warner, um, onto the screen please?
HB Warner?
Is that HB Warner?
Is that HB Warner?
Yeah, it dropped.
Can we get HB Warner, um, onto the screen please?
Um, onto the screen please.
HB Warner?
Is that HB Warner?
Uh, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Chang.
Uh, in the movie Lost Horizon.
Is that HB Warner?
Uh, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Chang, uh, in the movie Lost
Horizon.
Uh, next one is Chris McIntyre.
Is that HB Warner?
Uh, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Chang, uh, in the movie Lost
Horizon.
Uh, next one is Chris McIntyre.
Uh, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Chang, uh, in the movie Lost
Horizon.
Uh, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Chang, uh, in the movie Lost
Horizon.
Uh, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Chang, uh, in the movie Lost
Horizon.
Uh, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Chang, uh, in the movie Lost
Horizon.
Uh, next one is Chris Sarandon, who is nominated, uh, for Best Supporting Actor
for Dog Day Afternoon.
And missed out narrowly because that was a big year, um, where a lot of the Godfather
actors were nominated.
Aline McMahon, nominated for Dragon Seed.
Uh, there's Aline McMahon from Dragon Seed, which is a, there she is.
There she is.
Aline McMahon, no relation to Ed McMahon.
Um, Richard Farnsworth was nominated and came up a little bit short.
Great performance from Comes a Horseman.
Um, but he did not take home Oscar Gold.
1977.
The year was 1977.
Star Wars was on the screen.
Along with another movie called The Goodbye Girl.
Quinn Cummings, uh, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
And there she is, and one of the youngest people ever to be nominated and to
lose.
For The Goodbye Girl.
There she's, there's Quinn Cummings.
1977.
And...
Okay.
Can we just go to a commercial or something for just a minute and we'll get,
get back with the last five of the Oscar runner-ups.
We have five more to go.
Um, please just, just cut for just a minute and we'll just reorganize.
We'll come back with our five Oscar runner-ups.
These were actors that...
Please cut the thing so we can just reorganize.
And come back with James Coco and the rest of our Oscar runner-ups.
Okay, just, you can't have dogs in that house loose.
Just, could you just cut the feed for a second?
Okay.
Okay, just, you can't have dogs in that house loose.
Just, could you just cut the feed for a second?
Back, so we can get a picture of James Coco.
Me?
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Me?
No, we're gonna get James Coco, who was, um, was gonna, was gonna, was gonna...
Nominated.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
So we can get a picture of James Coco.
Me?
No, we're gonna get James Coco, who was, um, was gonna, was nominated.
just just cut the feed for a second back so we can get the picture of James
Co me no we're gonna get James Coco who was was gonna was nominated
