Tell me what's happening.
Welcome to Office Hours, ladies and gentlemen.
My name is Tim Heidecker.
And it is Friday.
Freaky Friday.
All Fridays in October are Freaky Fridays to me.
It is October 26, 2018.
We are broadcasting live from the Absolutely Production offices in Glendale,
California.
I am joined after a long absence by my partner.
Doug Lusenhoppen.
Hi, Tim.
It's great to be back.
We are broadcasting live from the Absolutely Production offices in Glendale,
California.
I am joined after a long absence by my partner.
Doug Lusenhoppen.
Hi, Tim.
It's great to be back in the office.
Listen.
On the Office Hours.
And the caravan is on his way.
A little topical.
A little topical.
I can hear the marriage you declare.
Is this Van Morrison you're playing?
Yeah.
Of course.
One of the original.
Well, his name is Van.
He's singing about caravans.
I mean, geez.
It's a little on the nose.
What else does he talk about?
Geez.
Let's jump in there.
Grant Hudgrilman.
Yo, what up, Tim?
Yo, what up?
Not much.
Just hanging out at my school on a Friday.
What do you mean hanging out at your school?
When I was at school, we worked.
We had class and then we.
Well, that's how they do it now.
I just got out of class.
Okay.
You got a free period or something like that?
Yeah, I got a free period for a few hours.
What grade are you in?
I'm a junior in college.
Okay.
So you're almost out of the scholastic period of your life.
Yeah.
Almost out of it.
And very much in debt.
Oh, man.
Where are you going to school?
I go to Black Hills State in South Dakota.
Ooh.
Black Hills.
Way down the Black Hills of South Dakota.
They lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon.
One day his mom ran out with another guy.
Hit young Rocky in the eye.
Rocky didn't like that.
He said, I'm going to get that boy.
Is that the only thing you have to relate to the Black Hills?
Is that song?
Yeah.
That's the only thing I got.
I mean, you got, what do you got?
The Mount Rushmore up there or not?
Yeah.
We got Mount Rushmore.
We got a crazy horse.
We got trees and shit.
The land was taken from the Indians and giant.
Oh yeah.
Giant massacre.
Giant men's faces were dynamited into it.
Exactly.
One of my favorite.
Take that.
One of my favorite jokes growing up that I used to watch on
Nick at Night.
I used to watch Fernwood Tonight.
Remember that Fernwood Tonight?
It was Martin.
I don't remember that now.
It was like a parody of a Tonight Show with Martin Mull
and Fred Willard was sort of his Ed McMahon.
Hey, hey now.
It's really funny.
But one of this offhand remarks that Fred Willard made,
it sort of, I just, you know, one of those defining jokes
that I just never forgot was them talking about Mount Rushmore
and Fred Willard, who was, you know, always plays like a great dumb guy,
says something like, Mount Rushmore, one of the great natural wonders
of the world.
It's, I mean.
Like that it would naturally occur.
Right.
You know, it's like a funny thing.
What are the chances?
Yeah.
How's everything going out there, audience?
Are we broadcasting clear?
Is it a good show?
Just checking in on that.
I'm watching the stream right now.
It seems to work pretty well.
Yeah.
Okay, good.
Well, then we'll continue.
How can I help you today?
Anything in particular?
Yeah.
When is Channel 5 coming out?
Because...
We need it.
I'm not sure.
We...
I don't have an official date yet.
I hope it's going to be this year sometime.
We're working on it.
We've just...
We've made a bunch of stuff.
It's being edited.
It's coming out great.
I saw you were...
You had Bob Odenkirk doing voice acting.
I just don't know how I'm supposed to get a word in edgewise with you.
As you asked me a question, I'm trying to answer it.
Okay, I'll let you talk.
Well, that's what I'm saying is we hope to make an announcement on that soon.
I will say I'm excited about it.
I hope it succeeds.
There's some very cool little shows coming that I think will be hopefully the
beginning of a new platform for us to make stuff and put stuff out on our own
terms.
Because we will not...
We're learning, you know, that we cannot trust our corporate overlords.
This morning you saw the news.
They shut down Filmstruck, which I was a subscriber to.
I don't know if you were, Doug, but it was a neat little service where they...
You had just an incredible library of old films.
And I mean, I try to...
We all can grow and we all can learn.
That's right.
So we found that's another Turner, another AT&T Turner Casualty.
Earlier in the week they shuttered Super Deluxe, which wasn't a big surprise.
Yeah, I saw that.
Wasn't a big surprise, but you know...
How come you weren't surprised, Tim?
Well, I wasn't surprised because from the beginning of that operation I saw
that and said,
Well, you're trying...
It looks like you're trying to do Adult Swim.
And Adult Swim already has a website.
And if you remember, Doug, ten years ago when they did Super Deluxe for the
first time,
we were all kind of like...
Of course, I had a successful show on there.
You did.
What was that?
What was your Super Deluxe show?
It was called The Poundcast.
Oh, really?
I don't remember that.
You were on it.
Ah, shit!
No, I don't remember that iteration of it.
The Super Deluxe.
Oh, on Super Deluxe.
Oh, what were you saying?
No, I'm saying on the original Super Deluxe.
You had a show?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What was it?
You were on Medlars.
Oh, okay.
Medlars, yes.
That was through Super Deluxe.
Yes, sir.
Correct.
I see you shuttered Vic Berger, too.
Well, Vic, Vic, one of the bright spots...
One of the bright spots of Super Deluxe was Vic, you know, an outlet for Vic to
make his videos.
And I'm sure he's gonna get scooped up, you know, and continue to do that, but...
I can't wait till it comes back and I get to be in the third iteration.
Super Deluxe 30.
Super Duper Deluxe.
Super Duper Deluxe.
Super Duper Deluxe.
But anyways, what I was saying was they had, from the very beginning of this,
you had AdultSwim.com, and then you had Super Deluxe.
Now, they're both owned by the same company.
If I was coming in, if I'm AT&T, if I'm coming in, and I'm looking at
everything that's going on there, I see a lot of overlap.
I see a lot of, like, redundancies.
That's what they say, redundancies.
I'd probably see how many bars I have, if I was AT&T, and go from there.
Okay.
And American...
Don't you think those two things were, they definitely had their own vibe to
them.
I mean, Super Deluxe was way different than AdultSwim.
I guess so.
I guess so.
I liked Super Deluxe in the beginning, and then, I don't know, they just kind
of started going off, and they created a whole bunch of sub-shows.
Yeah, like, the whole, like, let's watch people eat stuff felt like, not for me.
Well, that's what I'm saying.
That would be something different than AdultSwim, I think.
That's true.
It would probably do.
I think it's disappointing.
Even Vic's stuff seems a little more, like, AdultSwim...
You're right.
Like, I don't know.
They probably wouldn't...
They don't really do political kind of commentary things, but...
Yeah, well, you know, I don't know.
I do think it's just disappointing because it's a lot of money, I guess, to
operate that site or that media entity.
But at the same time, it's like an incredible talent incubator.
So you have, you can spend relatively little money, like, basically making,
like, developing people, like you would with a minor league baseball team.
Right.
You get to, like, find people, work with them, let them experiment, and then
they, you know...
Exactly.
Where are the future, you know, Rob Schneider's gonna come from?
If not, super deluxe.
So...
But we'll see.
You know, I know when AT&T announced it, they said that they said what I
suggested, that there was sort of overlap or there was sort of...
So maybe, you know, if I was them, I'd say, why don't you just take AdultSwim
and make that a big site that has a lot of different, you know, like, within
the same general umbrella, but can appeal to a broader audience.
But who knows?
I mean, AdultSwim can't even get an app going on their, on the Apple TV.
I mean, Lifetime has an app on their Apple TV.
I know.
Why can't they get the app?
I don't know.
I don't know what's happening.
And it's very frustrating because I know how I like to watch things.
I don't like to watch things beam, beam something to my TV.
I want to watch it just directly, like, click on an app on my Apple TV and
watch it.
On demand.
When I want.
Anyways, we are just, we are down a rabbit hole of inside baseball stuff.
Speaking of baseball, my Dodgers, I don't know what's going to happen there,
but we can talk about that later.
What happened?
They're down two games in the World Series to the Red Sox.
They lost the first two.
You know, it's funny.
I didn't even know they were in the World Series.
Jeez, Doug.
The World Series is going?
We got to catch up with you.
All right.
Thanks, Grant.
I'm going to hang up on you.
God bless.
I'm going to start saying God bless now.
God bless.
Why not?
Can't hurt.
God bless.
God bless you.
Let's see what Pillow Pope has to say.
Then I want to find out what Doug Lussenhop has been up to since I've seen him
very infrequently in the past few weeks.
Pillow Pope, what do you got?
You want to sabotage my show or you got something to add?
Oh, no.
What's the buzz?
What's the buzz?
Tell me what's h
