WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE HOLDING HIS PANTS UP!?! Greg & Satomi from Deerhoof and Sam Richardson on OHL

I'll see you next time.
I'll see you next time.
One minute.
That's good.
How do I get to the live one?
Okay, here it is.
Should I be muting?
Probably.
What?
Will we lie?
Shit.
Anyway, all my jokes.
I'll see you next time.
I'll see you next time.
I'll see you next time.
I'll see you next time.
I like having fun.
I like to laugh.
I like to meet people who can make me laugh.
I like having fun.
Yes, I like to laugh.
I like having fun to meet people who laugh.
Hi, everybody.
Tim Hayekers live.
Come on.
Let's hear it.
Oh, come on.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen.
It is Office Hours Live starring Tim Heidecker, the Holy Trinity, DJ Doug Pound.
Don't forget Vic Berger.
Producer Matt, your Zoom calls.
We've got an incredible, incredible, and incredible show.
It is an incredible show, ladies and gentlemen.
There's no credibility to our show today.
We are here.
It is Thursday.
What's the date today, Vic?
Anybody know?
July 23rd.
23rd.
And we've got a terrific show.
We have the rock group.
I think they're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or if not, they're...
Let me tell you about some guests we have.
Oh, I said...
Oh!
Yeah!
Oh, yeah!
Oh!
We've got from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Deerhoof.
Oh, Deerhoof.
Oh, Deerhoof.
Oh, Deerhoof.
Oh, Deerhoof.
Oh, Deerhoof.
Oh, Deerhoof.
They're coming up later in the show.
And we've got to come from the Comedy Hall of Fame, from the Detroiters, from
Veep, and a number
of other things.
A number of other things.
Sam!
Sam Richardson, ladies and gentlemen.
How?
Thank you, by the way, everyone who joined us on Monday night for a very rare,
maybe not so rare
anymore going forward, but...
Oh, that's rare.
A new Office Hours experience, an evening show, which turned into one of our
longest shows
and one of our highest rated shows, actually.
Many people thrilled at the experience.
We did a deep dive into Q with Robbie Martin, expert on the subject, after a
very traumatic experience
I had with the Qers, and what's funny, so it was a very cathartic experience
for me.
It was very helpful.
I got a lot of love out of it.
A lot of people out there saying, listen, man, we thank you.
We respect what you do, and we, you know, want to say we're here to support you,
and that
meant quite a bit, but...
Okay, that's very good.
You know, what funny thing happened was about the next day, I said, I'm going
to take...
People said, you know, if you guys are a Mayo Clinic, and I went into that
appointment,
the prescription I got was, you know what, just why don't you take a little
Twitter break?
So that's what I did, but as soon as I did, I mean, literally, like an hour
later, the guys
texted me and said, well, guess what?
Twitter's just banned all this Q's stuff.
Bye-bye.
And that's just my life.
Fabulous.
Bye-bye.
Bye-bye.
That's how it goes, loads.
Loads.
Loads.
That's how it goes, loads.
I call my audience loads.
Loads of shit.
By the way, I'm wearing a necklace that my daughter made from scratch,
essentially.
It was from a kit, but essentially...
And the heart keeps flipping upside down, so I'm wondering what symbiology that's
sending out.
Upside...
Did you see?
He was wearing an upside-down heart.
A children's...
Anyways, but you guys, Vic and Doug, you are looking more into this Twitter ban,
and it
may not be the best...
It may be, you know, obviously there could be a negative side effect to it.
Yeah, I think it's...
I don't know if it's the best thing to do, because they're going to look into
it, and they're
going to read into it, and maybe this is like the next phase for them.
This is like the deep state cracking down.
What are you doing with that mask?
I mean, are you...
What is the point of it?
I know.
You just have it like over the bottom half of your mouth.
Are you protecting...
Do you have zits on your chin or something?
I just have...
Yeah, it's a very bad breath, and I don't want to smell myself.
There we go.
But you want to plug your mask, because you're very, very proud of it.
I'm very proud of the Lehigh Valley...
The Lehigh Valley is where Vic and I grew up.
It's in Allentown, Bethlehem.
This is the Lehigh Valley.
Here, can we get a shot of this?
Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations.
It's not an endorsement.
It's not a commercial or advertisement.
It's a buddy of mine from the Valley, and he makes very nice clothing, and
there's a screen
printing, and shirts, and masks, and everything.
So give him a support.
Log online and find him.
Follow him on Instagram.
Matt, throw somebody at me randomly from the Zoom room, just to welcome them to
the show.
And they can be an emissary or a spokesman for the Zoom community, so we can
see how they
are doing, or if they have anything specific they want to speak about.
How about Sarah Lowe?
Sarah?
Hey.
Hi.
Can you hear me?
Am I coming through?
Yes, we can.
How are you today?
I'm good.
How are you, Tim?
I'm doing.
Hi, Doug.
Hi, Vic.
Hi.
Very nice of you to say hello to the whole gang.
Hi, baby.
Say my name, baby.
What can I do for you today?
Well, I'm a bit sad because we lost, I haven't lived in L.A. for some time, but
I was a fan
fan of the big comedy live scene out there, and I know that recently we got
some sad news
that the satellite shut down.
Satellite's gone way up to Mars.
Yes, let's talk about this real quick.
Doug and I, mostly Doug and I, lost a pillar, a sort of a mainstay of the
community, a comedy
community here in the satellite, which is a music club, but also had started
doing a lot
of comedy.
Bar, and yeah, yeah, a lot of comedy and a lot of, here's what happened.
I know, go ahead, Doug, Doug, this is your area of expertise.
Doug hosted a comedy night there for many years.
Well, I, what is that, is that, I don't think Greg gets the credit, he should,
because it
was, uh, you recognize it?
No, go ahead.
Is that Dave Matthews?
Did he have a song called Satellite?
It was about the, it was not about the satellite club.
What was that condition back then when the, all the men sung like that?
And then, like, it seems like it was co-opted by country music, kind of.
Oh, yeah, totally.
The guys in the 80s and 90s used to sing like this when the 80s roll slide
started in the
sound of noise.
But now, they all stand down like this.
So, Doug, tell us a little bit about, uh, stop going to Spotify and typing the
word satellite.
By the way, this is already a nightmare.
Look at me, the sick, sweating pig that I am.
We're in it together.
Look at this.
Look at this.
It's a sign of a healthy body.
We have an air conditioner in here, but the guys believe that she might need
some more
Freon because it is not doing much to cool this room down.
And there's a lot of heat coming off all of our computers.
Take me out to try.
What are the animals called?
I'm snobbing.
Anyways, Doug, so give us a little bit on the satellite and I'll pipe in.
That drop.
Um, Greg, um, Neil Hamburger started, it was a music, it was an indie rock club.
And then Greg had the only comedy night there for years, maybe like eight years.
Every month.
For a long time.
Last Sunday of every month.
And then, uh, I actually asked his permission.
I said, can we do it to a crew there?
Would you mind?
I know you're the, you're the comedy night there.
He said, I don't mind, but charge, charge $8 and pay your comedians.
Cause no one, no comedians ever get paid in this town.
It's beautiful.
Yeah.
That's a good, that's a great idea.
And that was the beginning of the end.
So once you kind of chipped away at his audience, it all, it all didn't know.
His shows were the, that was like my favorite show to do was Neil's show.
Here are my notable memories of my own experience.
Uh, I did, I did a yellow river boys record release show where we did the full
yellow river
boy.
The reason the yellow river boys record exists is because I was at a Neil
hamburger show
and one of the guys in this band called city city was there and he introduced
himself and
said, Hey, uh, we have this band.
If you ever need a band to do something, we connected there.
Then we went on and played there, did a full set of the whole album.
We had, uh, John C.
Reilly sing Mr.
Mud.
We had Jack black come on and do a hot piss drinker.
And then I've number of, I mean, I'm like, I've, I used to do sets there all
the time.
A lot of my standup guy.
I played a lot of music there.
I did weird.
I did like rock and roll Gary there.
You did rock the first and only ever in, uh, in person rock and roll Gary
appearance.
And, and then, you know, you would just see everybody that you loved there.
You would see Brody Stevens would destroy their, um, remember when Martin short
hosted with
us, Martin short came in.
I got to kind of hang out with Martin short and, and, and talk to him for a
while.
And it was, he was really down to earth and really friendly.
And then we did the show and he was in the front row and I got to kind of like
play roast
him a little bit and had fun with him a little bit.
And it was fun.
And yeah, uh, Neil hamburger show was always good.
He would always bring on, uh, interesting comedians that you wouldn't see it.
Some dumps, like the comedy store or whatever, just be like an alternative
comedy variety show
with like weirdo arts outsider musicians.
You could try anything there, but I liked Greg show was unique because he didn't
host it.
It was like weird silences between no one would be like, Hey, our next comedian
is this.
They would just have to come out like awkwardly and just like kind of start.
But it was a nice, it was nice.
Uh, it was a break cause it was like, you know, bar and it was a social thing.
You would go there on Sunday nights and see friends or people that you worked
with or something.
And, um, yeah, it was nice.
It was small.
It was in the neighborhood too.
It wasn't a particularly intimidating storefront either.
You could just go on in and have a, have a laugh.
I would be at the bar.
Kids would come over and talk to me and you know, I would be, well, you know,
like young,
youngins.
Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, please.
Some people I'd say, you know what?
Can you give me a little break?
You know, with the questions about where did spaghet come from?
I mean, Jesus, I'm trying to have a fun time.
I'm trying to watch the show.
Can you just watch the show?
I used to get so mad cause there, you know, it's a bar and there'd be a bar
along the side.
Mommy, mommy, no, no, mommy, mommy.
And there'd be a comedian up there.
There'd be a comedian up there.
There'd be a comedian.
The man is trying to speak.
He's trying.
The man, the comedian would be up there and the bar would be right there on the
side
and they would just be like, there'd be full, like shouting conversations going
on at that
bar.
But it was a great place.
It was a great place.
And now they're going to serve, I don't know what they're going to do, serve
hot dogs there
or something, but.
Serve $15 hot dogs.
Yeah.
Or chisinal hot dogs.
I don't know what they're, you know.
I think they just need to stay alive.
Maybe.
Yeah.
Maybe that's what it is.
Maybe.
I don't know.
Can't they just cut the roof off and it's kind of an outdoor video?
Cut the roof off?
We get a beer garden.
That works structurally.
Cut the roof off.
They got that big parking lot on the side too.
All right, listen.
Yeah.
Uh, RIP satellite for now.
Maybe it'll be risen.
I'm gone.
Go on.
Uh, let's do the city of the day.
Huh?
Yeah.
See, you guys got to fucking listen to the show.
Can't just.
Uh, city of the day.
Let's hear it.
Uh, city of the day.
Now this is huge.
Um, city of the day is sponsored by bravado spice.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be perhaps seen as a disappointment.
Uh, but for the past several weeks, we've introduced an incredible new delivery
system for comedy,
which has been the sponsors for city of the day.
We've had, we started with the bowling balls, John Jasper bowling balls.
We've had, uh, solemn shorts, uh, God, so many that have not become real, like
have become
fun, fun, uh, exercises for me as the, uh, general, uh, head writer o
