Dear listeners, anybody tuning in right now to Joy Tactics, you should know
that we are joking.
Anything we say, we cannot be held for legally or liability-wise.
So do not worry about it if we say some shit. Thank you. Enjoy.
Do you guys know about Jainism?
Thank you.
Jainism.
No.
Jainism?
Also known as Jain Dharma. It's an Indian religion.
And one of their core beliefs is that they inflict no harm upon other living
creatures.
They don't even kill bugs.
And I'm not Jainist. I've read a lot about it, but I do align on that belief.
To where I'm joking about harming Trump, whatever.
But I would never, ever harm anybody.
Even if Trump was a fly.
Even if he was a fly, which actually is kind of a bug.
Well, Mike Pence had a run on his head, that's for sure.
Yeah.
Well, can I push back?
And Bernie had the bird.
And Bernie had the bird.
Oh, go ahead.
Well, I'm not going to push back, but I just, I'm just, what do you call it?
I'm skeptical.
So, how do you determine what is alive and how do you determine whether that
thing is suffering or not?
I'm trying to look because they have like a little wiki.
Mouths to smile and you don't know if you put the skin of an animal into a
leather couch.
Is it really disconnected from the emotions of the cow?
You make a great point, Jack, because this is, I believe, we don't know how
much animals are suffering right now.
Because we have this thing called, you know, facial expressions.
And we can see each other's faces and it's something that we've adapted to
where we can see like, oh, okay, you look sad.
You look, you can, we can see your emotions, your state of how you're feeling
through your face.
Now, Jack, you look, you look like you're about to, you know, you look like you're
having fun right now.
You know what I'm saying?
I can see that.
But with a cat, for instance, you have no clue what they, if they were going
through the most painful moments of their life, if they had a, like, if they
felt like they were having a sword stuck through their guts and it was being
mixed around in there, you would have no idea.
You would just see that fun little loving cat that was walking around.
And that leads me to believe that a lot of animals are in pain and we do not
know what they're truly experiencing.
And this, you know, go ahead.
I'm just going to say this brings up an interesting point on the conversation
of the boundaries of our perception, right?
Because we perceive cats to be stoic animals, right?
They might be in the most craziest ass pain of their lives.
We think that's nothing for them, but they might be putting off a pheromone or
a smell to other cats, which to them is like loud ass screaming.
Yeah.
Oh, and it's like, I smell Jack and it's like I can feel him screaming.
You know what I mean?
Anger.
Right.
Like that.
Well, even more so, even if we could reach across the dimension of scent
emotion, we still would have the issue of, I can't remember what I'm talking
about.
Sorry, guys.
Wait, I wanted to let you guys know.
Wait, wait, wait.
I remember, I remember, I remember.
Isn't it just funny that like how it felt like you, it just felt like you were
so onto something and just to immediately like so, so abruptly cut off and just
have, just say, I have no idea what I'm saying.
Sometimes you got to pull the chute, man.
Even if the ground is, even if the ground is an inch away from your head, you
just got to pull it.
But what I was going to say is that even if we could see into the fifth cat
scent dimension, that we would, there's like a mental roadblock that comes up
when I try to say this.
It's probably because what you're going to say is so profound that our creators,
our puppeteers are fucking stopping it.
Oh, it's going to be about culture.
Culture.
Be careful.
Okay.
Culturally, smiling means something different to everybody.
So we have, even if a cat had a human face, that's all I was going to say is
that you might not know what that means, Eric, exactly.
That could be that type of face.
Let's see.
It could mean like, let me show you something I found.
All right.
That's why in all the horror movies, sometimes the scariest villains look like
this.
Hi.
Yeah.
I would be the greatest villain on the planet.
Someone commented on our joy tactics that we're getting so fucking good at
podcasting, and I have to agree.
