Love | Joy Tactics Podcast | EP.32

A little disclaimer, everybody, before we get into this Joey Tacx episode.
At about 20 minutes in, my foot kicked out the audio, so it's going to sound
fucked up.
Welcome to Joey Tactics, the podcast dedicated to all things joyful, joyous,
and meeting
as many celebrities as humanly possible.
Hosted by Eric Rahill, Nate Veroni, and Jack Bensinger.
Enjoy.
It's late.
All right.
You might be wondering, why are we in bed right now?
Well, there's a certain type of people that you get in bed with.
Lovers.
And today's episode is about love, and that's why we're in this bed together.
Not because of circumstances that we couldn't control, and now that's what it
is.
We are coming to you live the night before the podcast releases from the Ace
Hotel in downtown,
beautiful downtown Los Angeles, where it isn't unsettling to be outside
sometime.
Oh, shit.
And the Modelo just got died.
The Modelo's flowing.
The Modelo's are flowing.
The vibes are amazing.
This has actually been a requested episode.
The love episode.
Many people have been, every time we put out an episode, people are like, when
are you guys
going to talk about love?
Yeah.
When are you going to talk about relationships?
When are you going to talk about connecting with other human beings?
Well, we're going to do it right the fuck now.
Yeah, and we talk about that stuff regularly, no matter what the subject is, of
course, because
it's one of the core tenets of human existence, so naturally it'll come up, irregardless.
But today we're going to do a deep dive into love, because we're going to open
our brains
and go down to the heart from there.
I really thought I was going to say something cool there.
I did.
You were just hella close.
I know, right?
Well, I walked up to the door of the idea, and nobody was home.
Your hit percentage is really high, though.
And it's going up, by the way.
It's going up, yeah.
Thanks, guys.
So, wait.
We're going to get into love, but I think we glossed over the fact that we are
in the
Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, where many people that are listening to this could
only dream
of staying in a hotel so swaggy, and yeah, if you own the Ace Hotel, shout out
to you for
getting away with, basically, exposed concrete everywhere, poor temperature
control, rock-hard
beds.
What else?
The design of this hotel is, you know, like, if you, I guess, like, interior
design-wise,
like, it's trendy to, like, not do anything.
Right.
Yeah.
And I feel like they got away with a lot by doing that.
They definitely did.
I would say, when I'm looking around, here are some words that come to mind.
North Korea, Soviet Russia, Halo, like a room in James Bond, N64, GoldenEye,
that has
no fucking items in it.
It just is a room.
Right.
It's like an error.
It's just a fucking play, like a texture in, like, a video game from the 90s.
And let me just say this.
This room is one acoustic guitar on the wall away, one Crossley record player
away from
just being...
Crossley record player.
Remember those?
Yeah.
Remember those when everybody was getting the fuck out of those at Urban Outfitters?
And by the way, there's Urban Outfitters across the street.
I haven't gotten a chance to check it out yet, but...
It looks like people, many people have tried to claw out of this room.
Because there's, like...
I feel death.
I feel like a vibe of death.
I feel some sort of...
Something's wrong.
...1940s suicide in this building.
There's some...
Oh, they were killing themselves out here in downtown LA.
Can you imagine 1920, the fucking Great Depression hits?
They were running out those windows.
Well, there's nothing to do back then.
It's like, what do you guys want to do today?
Oh, I found a building that's about eight floors high.
Should we see whose head fucking hits the hardest on the fucking ground?
It wasn't even because they were sad.
It was just like...
You know...
I just had a thought, actually.
Do you think there's any chance that every single room in this hotel right now
has somebody doing a podcast in it?
There's probably about four or five running right now.
Oh, my God.
Their sneaker heads are, I think, in town.
Oh, Macklemore's got a concert, yeah.
We need to link up with the sneaker heads and form an alliance.
Why don't they call them Sneaker Feet?
Hello?
That's a...
It's an interesting point, you know.
Oh, no, no, no.
I get it.
I get it.
I get it.
Because it's like a head.
Because head is like the...
Yeah, I get it.
I know that.
Sneaker heads.
Sucking off a...
Sucking off a sneaker?
Is that it?
You know somebody has.
You took somebody out there.
Oh, because of head.
Oh, wait.
Oh, I thought you just...
I want to shout out a creator.
I want to send some...
Speaking of love, I want to send some love to a creator.
This creator is named Matty Tingles.
Oh.
And he is an ASMRtist.
And...
You know, I'm not rocking with every single one of his videos, but he does
these shoe closet
haul kind of videos where he brings out this shoe and he's tapping on the box
and then
he fucking pulls them out.
And then just the way that he rocks with the shoes and makes noises with them,
he's tapping
the rubber on the bottom.
He's taking the tongues out, tapping the...
Tapping this and that.
I thought you meant closet haul, like a closet and a hallway.
But now I get it.
But Matty Tingles, look up his shoe videos.
I have a question.
What?
Yeah?
What did people do before ASMR was...
Because I feel like so many people rock with ASMR.
Oh, yeah.
But it feels like a fairly new phenomenon.
Like, what did people do before the internet?
To get stim?
To stim.
Like, you know...
Yeah, of course I know what you mean.
I'm trying to think of what stimmed me out back in the day.
I feel like getting in front of a box fan and going...
Malignant.
I used to do it.
And by the way, guys, I did a show tonight where I did an alien voice.
And it bombed.
Eric, you look like you're dead in the camera.
You literally look like you were dead.
Yeah.
You look different from me and Nate.
Like, we're both, like, upright and you're like...
Yeah.
You look like you have a back injury.
All right.
Well, let's get on topic because everybody wants to hear about this.
So, a lot of people...
Let's talk about love.
Right.
So, simply, has everybody here been in love?
Is everybody here in love?
Do you think it's, like...
Some people really gatekeep the feeling of love.
Like, oh, you've never been in love.
You were too young.
But, what I say is...
Right.
What I say is, the older you get, the harder it is.
The harder...
The more effort you have to put into love.
Totally.
So, when someone says, oh, I was too young.
Love is work.
It's effort.
It's effort and work.
Work?
It's effort to be in love and to keep that flame going.
You know what I'm saying?
Of course.
It's a job.
Well, love is...
It's basically a full-time job.
If you think that this is just...
Oh, it's love.
People have this idea of love.
Oh, oh.
It's like, what?
Oh.
Someone's on the roof across the street.
They're not going to jump off of that, right?
Oh, my God.
No.
No.
It's kind of scary, actually.
There's somebody...
There's one...
No, there's two people out there.
Oh, there's two?
Okay, okay, okay.
It looks like maybe they're in a fight.
We'll keep you guys updated if somebody tries to fly off or...
She's kind of dancing like she's in the Matrix.
Okay, they're having fun.
They're having fun.
How many floors up are we right now?
We are 11 floors.
That's enough to do yet.
Did you know that if you're higher up in the sky, your brain is more creative?
Where did you read this, man?
I don't know.
I think my girlfriend told me this.
What do you mean?
She was like, if you're on a plane, your brain is more focused or something.
Something like that.
The higher altitude you are.
Who knows if this is true?
So, we could do a test, right?
We should get up to the One World Trade Center or whatever, and we should maybe
try to take
a math quiz online on the first floor, second floor, third floor, third floor,
and then
we could do it again with a creative task.
Freestyle on every floor.
Whoa.
Freestyle on every floor.
You get to the fucking Tonwater prison.
You get down to the bottom, and you're like...
Oh, webs, webs.
Yeah.
I love that.
I love that altitude-based.
I've been saying something.
Have you heard of this concept of being on parole, not for distance, but for
altitude?
So, you can go anywhere in the world, but you've got to watch out, sea level-wise.
Oh, so you can't go to, like, Nepal?
No.
Then fucking just kill me.
If I can't go to Nepal, execute me if I can't get up there.
And by the way, if I was climbing Everest in there, I would be respecting the
fuck out
of the Sherpas so hard, dapping them up, giving them...
Joint.
Joints.
They are the mountain.
And they drink beer, too, by the way.
I hope so.
What is a Sherpa?
Oh, your fucking white ignorance is coming out tonight strong.
Sherpas are basically...
You heard about Edmund Hillary, right?
Nope.
Nope.
Okay, well, a lot of people have.
And he was apparently one of the first people to summit Everest.
Well, he wouldn't have done that without the help of the Sherpas.
What is a Sherpa?
What do you think a Sherpa is?
What do you think a Sherpa is?
I don't want to say, because I might come off that.
A Sherpa, man, is a...
It sounds like...
I don't know.
Tell me.
Just tell me, because I'm going to make a fool of myself by guessing what a
Sherpa is.
Nepalese mountaineers who have been...
What's that?
I don't think they have to be from Nepal.
Oh, I guess they could be...
Okay.
It's just someone who...
So it's just the locals.
It's the locals who know how to fucking climb the mountain.
They're mountaineers.
It's somebody who helps you.
All right.
So once every...
How long has it been?
Six minutes.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, everybody listening, but there's...
It's...
Something technically is going...
My computer kind of fell asleep, and so every 10 minutes, Nate is going to get
up, or we'll
rotate.
We don't have our technical team with us right now.
We usually have...
We need a large staff of 13 to 18-year-old boys that are helping us.
We don't pay them.
Oh, my God.
Everybody who listens to this podcast, if you do, you're familiar by now with
really what
this is, is you are...
It's an experiment.
You're watching people in real time learn how to technically succeed.
We are learning a trade.
And do you get amazing, or do you think a plumber is fucking knocking the hell
out of those pipes?
First try?
First try.
Hell no.
They've got to go to trade school.
Yeah.
And I got to say real quick, if you are listening to this on Spotify in an
audio format, and you
have a crazy foot fetish, stop it right now and get on YouTube, because there's
something
in the foreground that I think you're going to like.
It's Jack's long feet.
Yeah, you got some nice feet.
I got flippers, man.
You get your shit...
Carved on the bottom all the time.
Carved up.
Have you ever seen that, when someone's got a whole...
They got the callus disease?
Don't bring it up.
Well, it's not a bad thing.
It's disgusting.
And it's like just dead skin.
You can't even feel it.
You would be so...
You get stabbed with it.
Can I say something?
Somebody could stab your foot, and you wouldn't even feel it.
Mr. Deed style?
Mr. Deed style, yeah.
Oh my God.
John Turturro and that.
So here's the thing.
What was I going to say?
I don't know, man.
No, wait.
I had one.
Oh, you know what?
I feel so jealous of the feet fetish people, because it's like...
Yeah, give me one.
It's like, what if your fetish was fucking eye contact?
You could be getting away with murder.
Oh, they have no idea.
If your fetish was being polite, all that to say, the feet thing is like, yeah,
whatever.
Do you guys think that I'm polite?
Let's move on.
Let's move on to a different topic and a whole different subject.
Have you guys ever...
Has someone ever been in love with you, and you did not love them back?
Many times.
Many times.
Yeah.
Same, man.
Family, friends.
Family.
Unrequited love.
Oh.
Is that
