Joy Tactics Live in LA Ft. John Early and Sarah Sherman

Tonight, we make history.
You are now tapping into a live experience that will shatter the very fibers of
this dimension.
Never before in history has a group of individuals this psychotically hell been
on experiencing joy been in the same room together.
You are now entering into the joy tactics live experience.
Prepare to get smacked in the fucking face with joy you pathetic fucking losers.
Now please, put your fucking hands together.
I need you to go fucking crazy.
Coming to the stage, currently unemployed comedian and amateur photographer.
Please welcome, Eric Rajo.
You know him from the cancelled TV show Stephen Colbert Presence tuning out the
news, Jack Bensinger.
And finally, give it up for the third guy I don't know his name but he's really
fucked up and weird.
Let's say his name is like Fred Mikey Danielson or something.
Alright, now let's get this fucking shit started.
Shall we?
Joy tactics.
Oh, live podcast!
What the fuck is...
Oh, Dynasty Typewriter!
Oh, shit.
Let me hear you!
It's hitting tonight.
Oh, shit.
It's about to go down tonight.
Everybody loves a live podcast.
Everyone.
This is what theater was meant for.
That's right.
This is what theater was meant for.
For people to sit down, not move at all, and just kind of speak.
Yup.
Whenever...
I'm listening to Smart List Live podcast episodes every fucking...
To get through my chronic pain.
It helps.
Give it up for Jason Bateman.
Will Arnett.
And Sean Hayes.
Legends.
I'm so excited I already came and sat down.
This would be the worst time to have a panic attack is right fucking now.
Like, you're locked in for an hour or 20.
It's a beautiful place to have a panic attack.
On stage with all these people who are willing to help.
Who would come on stage to help Jack if he was...
Are there any doctors in that?
Wow.
There's one, two...
Why did everyone not raise their hand when...
He just asked if you would help them to have a panic attack,
and there was two people that raised their hand?
That's all right.
Where are they?
I respect that.
Raise your hands again if you raise...
Let's see that again.
Okay.
Anyways.
Yeah.
Okay.
Cool.
Are there any medical professionals you would help, brother?
Thank you, man.
I respect you.
Is that Ben O'Brien?
No.
Oh, it is.
Yo, what's up?
That's right.
We have friends here in the audience.
We do have friends.
We have friends in all the major cities and industries that you've never heard
of.
Jack, if you had a panic attack right now, I would be clowning your ass, dude.
I would be fucking roasting your ass.
Look at this idiot.
Why is that so understandable coming from you?
Well, because I'm a bad person.
Look, I'm looking in the crowd right now, and wow.
Okay.
It's just as I suspected, all 100% bald men in attendance.
Thank you all for so much for coming out and showing love tonight.
We appreciate that.
But really, I'm seeing...
Wow.
We got a lot of whites in the audience tonight.
I'm looking at a lot of whites here.
But we love the whites.
We love you guys.
Jesus Christ, Nate.
Hold on, hold on.
Wait, wait.
Who here is Irish?
Do we have any Irish people?
Give it up.
Give it up if you're Irish.
Okay.
Front row.
We got a lot of Irish.
Another Irish.
Who here is Italian?
Do we got any Italians?
Okay.
A little bit smaller.
Respect.
Okay.
Pasta.
What they got?
Pasta.
Rome.
You know the Romans are from there.
And do we have any Greek people in the house tonight?
Good.
Good.
You didn't show up.
Looks like the message got around to L.A.
Looks like it got around.
Good.
I fucking hate Greek people, dude.
Are you fucking serious, man?
The worst fucking people on the planet, dude.
And let me make this clear.
You guys know this.
I'm probably the least racist person in this room.
You really is.
I am.
Without a doubt.
I'm the least racist fucking person in this room.
In fact, I think that racism has no place in our society whatsoever.
That it's a tactic used by the elites to divide us so that we never know how
powerful we are
when we are together.
All right.
Give it up for Nate.
Hold on.
That being said,
I do think that Greeks are subhuman and need to be sort of not associated with
the rest
of us.
And if you got a problem with that, meet me in the lobby after this show.
I'll smack the tzatziki out your bitch ass.
Sorry.
Tzatziki.
Tzatziki.
Is that how you say it?
You don't even...
Yeah, it's how you say it.
Who cares?
Who gives a buzz how you say it?
Nate has one of the hardest times to pronounce other languages that I've ever
seen in my entire
life.
Give me something about the language.
Or it's just a sauce.
Yeah, try that.
What language is that in?
Sauce language?
Is that what you were going to say?
The sauce language?
You don't know sauce language?
We are the three dumbest people in the world.
3.2.
3.2 GPA?
No, wait a minute.
Weighted.
Got a weighted 3.2.
You couldn't even imagine.
Well, I won't say it.
Aw, yeah.
Aw, yeah.
We are starting a catchphrase.
We are at the ground floor of a new catchphrase.
It is, aw, yeah.
Aw, yeah.
You can say it whenever.
You can say it at a graduation, a funeral.
You could say it at a deathbed.
You can say it at a deathbed.
Eric, are you saying that?
All right.
Speaking of death, I'll just say this.
You know, I'm sure you all go to a lot of shows.
I'm sure you're doing a lot of different things every night.
But tonight is special.
Just, I want you to remember that tonight is special because I want everybody
to look
around right now, look around the room, look at each other.
Remember this, is that.
Someone in here is going to be the first to die.
Someone in here is going to pass away first.
Who's it going to be?
It's not going to be me.
I'm on the CPAP machine.
It's bringing back my health in a way that no one ever, I'm more sexually vigorous
than
I've ever been in my entire life.
Nothing.
But someone in here is going to go first.
And maybe it's going to be you.
So just appreciate your lives while you got them.
We're not.
We are headed to fucking hell.
The United States will fall within 50 years.
Brooklyn and Silver Lake will rise.
In about 100 years, the artists and the creatives, thank you for the lights.
And the ad agency folk will rise up when we will crush other nations.
One democratic state across the entire world.
All Democrats united under one American leader.
Give it up for the Democrats.
Damn, I knew we were in a Democratic crowd tonight.
I could feel it.
I was scared.
Nothing like a Democrat.
I was scared for a second.
Oh, my God.
Oh, yeah.
I'll go down on any Democrat for as long as I want.
Four or five hours.
Do whatever you need.
Oh, my God.
You see that John Fetterman?
I'd go down on his mouth.
John Fetter sexually.
Oh, somebody give him some fucking head, dude.
He's getting it with that confidence.
He's got a beautiful family.
He's got a beautiful head.
Shouldn't kissing be called going down on each other's mouths?
That's a good, yeah.
I won't say that again.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Well, here's the thing.
Listen, I want to, you know, there's one thing about this podcast that is true.
It's that we want to change the world.
Now, we don't care if it's for good or whatever, but we want to be a part of it,
right?
And I've been on this mission for a long time.
I've been trying to change the world, and I've been trying to do it with my art,
known as stand-up comedy.
Excuse me.
And so for years, I've been thinking, why don't I do a joke about what I look
like, right?
Because technically, everybody looks like something.
A circle, a square, a shape, whatever.
So anyway, so I'm starting to think of a joke about what I look like.
I'm sitting in Times Square at a Starbucks, drinking a Diet Coke, where I do my
writing with a bunch of people that are whatever.
Anyway, security.
Anyway, so I'm thinking, what do I look like, man?
I look like if Michael Cera was an eight-mile or something.
No, no, nobody knows who Michael Cera is.
I'm thinking, oh, I look like if John Krasinski grew up too close to an airport.
Well, I don't know what that means, you know what I mean?
I don't think that means anything.
I'm thinking, I look like if Michael Phelps, instead of getting caught smoking
pot, got caught being all kind of little too-handsy with his P.E. kids and all
that.
I'm thinking, well, I don't need to be making a joke about that subject matter,
right?
It's not my place.
Somebody else could.
I'm thinking, why can't I think of a joke about what I look like?
Yep.
And what I realized is, it doesn't matter what you look like.
What matters is having to be sharing different perspectives with one another.
Hammurabi's code.
Supply and demand.
Yield.
Whatever.
Things we all learned, I've learned.
What was I, why did I say all that?
Oh, yeah, because we want to change the world?
Well, butterfly effect.
I just changed it again in a way, so.
If you thought I was going to wrap it up and make a point.
No.
That doesn't happen.
That's not going to happen.
We are here to change lives tonight, though.
That's for real.
Who's feeling down lately?
Who's feeling depressed?
Everyone raises their hand.
I never felt that in my life.
It's a pathetic emotion, but we've got to be there for each other.
The most depressed audience on the planet.
Who in the front row in the distance of the mic cord is feeling depressed?
You are, brother?
I was going to lie.
Weirdly, all men.
An invisible disease.
I can see it on your face, though.
Yeah, men are a disease.
It's not invisible, man.
Those fuckers.
All right.
What are you going through, man?
Uh, loneliness.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on.
No, that sucks.
Check.
Oh, whoa.
Are you willing to be interviewed?
Sure.
Okay.
All right.
And it's okay if we post this online?
In perpetuity?
Okay.
No, yeah, no problem.
We're working with the new Chinese social media app, and they're, they'll do
whatever they
want with your ass, but.
Yeah, that's, that's chill.
So, what's your name, brother?
Alex.
That's my brother's name.
Oh, great.
I knew a guy named Alex, too.
You probably know a lot of guys named Alex.
Yeah, that's right.
What are you?
Oh, my bad.
Alex, what do you do for a living, brother?
I'm in the film industry.
I do editing.
D.D. Allen.
Wow.
Are you worried?
That's kind of why we wanted to do this show, man.
We can talk afterwards about commissions.
Yeah, we're, we.
That is amazing.
That's L.A. for you.
Oh, good God.
Keep it up for the industry.
Okay, no, no, no, no.
Hold on a second.
Wait, I actually messaged you guys on the Patreon about it, too.
No, you, you, but you responded.
Everyone got kind of.
We responded.
Ooh.
No, no, it wasn't ooh.
It wasn't ooh.
I was, you guys responded.
Oh, we did?
Oh, we did respond.
Yeah, we're responding to messages.
DM us.
Yeah, we'll respond.
We have nothing to do.
I'm jumping out of bed at 3 a.m.
Responding to all y'all, but.
I have a question for you, Alex.
Alex, are you scared of A.I. taking over your job?
Not my job.
I think I'm good.
Good.
You think you're good?
You'll need that confidence.
Yeah, I think.
I kind of feel the same way, because could you see A.I. doing some shit like
this?
Hell no.
I'm good.
I'm good.
No.
I'm good.
I'm not worried about A.I.
You're fucked.
You're fucked.
You're fucked.
Not me.
What did you just do?
Something an A.I. can't do.
Yeah, I hear that.
I hear that.
Hey, well, listen.
So, Alex, you are suffering from loneliness.
Loneliness.
Well, because you're editing, right?
Now that's...
Well, you are, right?
Yeah, yeah.
So, that's pretty lonely at times.
I would imagine you're alone doing that, right?
Day to day, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, all day.
Just in my office.
And you're alone in a room?
Yeah, in my office alone all day.
That sucks, man.
Have you ever thought of, like, getting on Omegle while you're editing, you
know?
Or, like, jerkbait, jerkbait.com, or...
Yeah, like...
There's a lot of camsites that I feel like you could really...
Ah, that's a good idea.
I gotta try that.
All right, yeah.
So, oh, yeah, right.
Is that where you feel like the loneliness is mostly happening?
Is it at work
