joy tactics all right uh welcome we are welcome to uh busted busted uh not
gonna lie records
productions what do you mean busted
oh should we yeah you're in a what maybe we should lead them in so imagine that
this
start of this episode didn't happen yet and this is how we're gonna let you
know
well well well it seems like we're back again isn't it
yep you heard it right you are getting an inside scoop with nate and jack eric
is um
doing another nda based activity that we can't discuss but we thought we'd take
the opportunity
to show you guys what it's like to make a song front to back uh in one session
in one hour
we've got nate nate what's your musical history i'm actually quite me i would
say we are uh the two
most musical members of the trifecta and honestly i think if eric were here
right now he would be
holding us back right because there would be a lot of teaching in the scales
like right right
teaching him about the history of music theory yeah what'd you say paradiddles
bro oh right
right a drumming pattern um well first off jack i want to thank you for signing
that uh that record
deal i know that wasn't easy i know it was a lot of it's a lot of me sort of
taking advantage of you
if you kind of read the fine print of it but i'm really it was easy to have you
no it was super easy
i don't have shit going on and i'm getting to that age where i'm willing to do
whatever it fucking is
i don't i'm not i can't be picky anymore with this few years left in my uh
young body very young body
but i feel like let's really waste no more time and and let's show everybody
the beginning you know by
the end of this episode we're gonna have made an amazing song yeah absolutely
it's crazy just sitting
here and i almost want to take this moment in just like what was life like
before we had made that
mm-hmm i think this might be the rest of the podcast too is this just making an
album over the course of
like six years and um yeah so what genre are we going to be dipping into that's
the first question
i almost want to take it back even a step further than that
and say like why are we making music what is in our heart that is calling us to
make a song today
right there feeling it's an expression you know you think beethoven was just
going
no he like probably saw an animal die too young or something or yeah yeah well
i feel like i mean a lot
of music is based on love you know what i'm saying i feel like we could um we
could make a love song
okay a non-sexual well it's got to be sexual sorry it can't not be i i almost
thought we could do it
for one second and it's it has to be a crazily sexual love song well it could
be instruction it could
be like instructional maybe that takes uh no that's instructional sexual love
song got it
how does who uh i gotta get a text sexual if i have a text app up can i share
that yeah that screen
and i could kind of write some lyrics people should know this has been a
technical nightmare to try to
set up we kind of sprung on julio not only not even last minute but actually
after we were supposed to
start recording i just heard a crazy noise um well while you're opening a notes
app no i can't see it
and i'm afraid to try to see it because this feels like a delicate technical
well i'll just let you know
the song right now is titled let me hit it from the back okay please please
there we go let me hit let me
hit it from the back please that sounds so familiar oh yeah actually so based
off that i'm thinking i i say
we start with a drum beat honestly because i feel like that's the foundational
all right so like fuck the
horns fuck the orchestra like i know you're gonna you're gonna go crazy with
that but we need sort of a
simple like let me hit it from the please but yeah keep keep singing that for a
second
let me hit all right please please this is like what it sounds like getting hit
you know these are the
hits you see what i'm sorry right you're you're oh you're tying in the theme
with the theme this is a
quincy jones uh musical technique oh this sounded good
is that like you're going on some toms right now i need bass and snare right
now
you can you find that what i don't mean to be asking this disrespectfully but
what do you mean by
bass i mean a bass a kick drum sorry a kick drum i need a kick drum and a snare
and a fucking
yeah i think it could be something something like this that doesn't count as a
bass were you on the
808s 808s i guess i'm on a keyboard okay it's your keyboard oh electric oh i
got it i got it okay i
know thank you for letting me work with you by the way let me just here listen
to this oh oh did you
hear that yeah yeah oh yeah
yeah can you hear that let me hit it from the back yeah yeah that's droopy can
we actually take it
back to beatboxing for a second just i have an understick let me hit it from
the back okay it's
like it's like i'm feeling all right all right let me hit it from the back
please
clap pick pick clap pick all right yep ready so let's all right here we go
can i try again yeah yeah please what what is are you doing maybe the metronome's
a bad idea let's
get rid of that yeah you don't need a metronome dude you are the metronome
right my heart my
thoughts are my metronome okay so okay so let me hit it from the
let me hit it from the let me hit it from the let me hit it from the i think we
just got that
yeah okay so now let's start to layer okay
i just need to say right now real quick after you lay this down i am trying in
all earnesty
right now to to make this a great song we're trying our best okay yeah i don't
want people
to think this is a joke this is not a joke like i'm i'm really trying to to
make a fucking hit record
right now if this is your first time watching this podcast this is what it's
always like by the way
and this is by the way this is the least grad this this is the least
graphical shirt that i own this is like the most this is the closest shirt i
own to a plane t-shirt
i actually believe that and i have a text i have a text uh document open that
just says let me hit it
from the back
all right good uh is there any like hard rock guitar like is this of course oh
all right
i don't even need it and i can
that didn't go well but do you know what my vision was there no no i i fully i
fully heard that no
that was good that was great um
the hard rock guitar yeah maybe this
are we at the writing lyrics section of this yet no not yet not yet but we'll
we'll get there just
lay lay down this real quick with that fucking hard rock uh that hard rock
guitar all right whoa
