Thank you.
By the way, thanks to everybody who participated tonight.
That was a very impressive display. I thought we did pretty well tonight.
Very nicely.
Well, if we have time, we'll try the P.
We're all very excited about my next guest being here.
She is the one and only Miss Rigid Tool for 1985-1986.
Please welcome Nancy Fletcher.
Hi, Nancy. How are you? Nice to see you.
Welcome to the program.
Thank you.
This is the first time in New York, isn't it?
Yes.
Where are you from originally?
California.
What part?
Newport Beach.
It's very nice out there.
Yeah.
How do you like New York?
Oh, I haven't seen too much of it yet.
What have you done since you've been in town?
Not too much.
Why not?
Just stayed in my hotel room getting ready.
Oh, really?
Yes.
Well, you should try and get out. It's a wonderful city.
I think I'll do that tonight.
Overall, has your impression been favorable of New York?
Yes.
I do like it.
Now, let me see.
You know, this is, I guess I've been aware of this for years,
but not specifically, knowing exactly what it was.
It's a calendar here.
Well, you tell us what Miss Rigid Tool is.
Well, the Rigid Tool company is the company who hired me to do their calendar,
and this is the first one I did.
And in that, I was put to be Miss Rigid Tool.
And then I got a gold pipe wrench, and I posed for this calendar, the second
one.
Okay, so you were one month in the 1983-84 calendar.
Well, it's actually two months.
Two months in the 83-84 calendar.
And from that, you were selected the Miss Rigid Tool of all time, or whatever.
And how were you selected?
What was the competition like?
Well, it wasn't too tough.
Yeah.
That, I guess, they liked me the best in the calendar, so I was chosen.
What was it?
Was there a talent competition, or?
No, no.
It was just based on the pictures in the calendar.
And did the, all right.
And there have been some very famous women posed for this, haven't there?
Yes.
This, for example, is, tell them who that is.
Markelle Welch.
Markelle Welch.
What year was that?
Well, we don't know.
Oh, 1965.
1965.
And what did you win for this, Nancy?
I got a gold pipe wrench.
Mm-hmm.
This is it.
That's very nice.
And, as you know, my great title.
And that's it?
That's it.
Do you have any plans for the future?
What do you want to be?
Well, I'd like to go into acting.
And recently, I'm just starting a thoroughbred farm.
Starting a thoroughbred farm?
Yes.
Well, that takes a lot of dough, doesn't it?
You must have a lot of dough.
Well, not me, but I have good friends.
Now, you're posing here.
This is you, right, Nancy?
Yes.
Now, what is this tool you're posing with here?
I'm not sure.
I don't know.
Yeah.
You don't have to know, though, do you?
No.
Okay.
All right.
What are we doing?
We're doing...
Station.
Okay.
I'll tell you what.
If you can stick around just a second, we have to do station identification.
Okay.
And then we'll be right back with Nancy Fletcher.
Thank you.
Tomorrow on this program, Martin Mull will be here.
Do you like Martin Mull?
I don't know who that is.
You don't know who Martin Mull is.
And also, bodybuilder Lori Bowen and Boy George will be here.
Wonderful.
Now, who gets this calendar, Nancy?
Who gets there?
Well, it's distributed around the United States, and anyone who goes and picks
it up can have
one, I think.
Uh-huh.
They're in the tool stores.
In a lot of machine shops, I would guess, these calendars.
Yeah.
Do you hear from people who have your calendar hanging up places?
Yes.
I've had various mail.
Uh-huh.
What kind of mail do you get?
Well, just the usual telling, just complimenting me on my calendar.
Yeah.
Well, it certainly is a lovely photo.
How many of the pictures are of you in this calendar?
Oh, well, there's just about three in each one.
Three in each one.
One big one and a few small ones.
Well, they're very nice.
You must be very happy.
Has this been a highlight in your young career?
Well, it's not really a highlight.
No.
It's something a lot more has come of it than I thought there would.
Yeah.
Like being on the show, I would guess.
Yes.
All right.
We have another.
Now, rigid tool makes a fine line of industrial tools, don't they?
Yes.
All right.
We just have a couple here.
Do you have any idea what this one is?
I'm not a tool expert.
I'm just on the calendar.
Yeah.
This is a spiral ratchet.
Oh.
It's going pretty well, isn't it?
Oh, this is the one you had your picture taken with.
Um, is it?
Yeah.
I think we got a whole new show here, folks.
You get yourself a host and about a $4 set, and you just try to identify tools
all night,
and I don't know what that one is either.
Let's just put that one.
And let's see here, Nancy.
This is a pretty impressive looking one.
They're not fooling around, they.
They, uh, these people are making tools.
This is the electric drain cleaner.
Yeah.
These are all heavyweight, very nicely crafted pieces of equipment.
Thank you.
Congratulations.
Why, thank you.
Now, what's next for you?
What are you going on to from here?
Well, that will be seen in the future.
All righty.
Uh, it was a pleasure meeting you, as I said.
Thank you.
Come back and see us again.
Nice to see you.
We'll be right back.
We'll be right back.
