Hi there, and welcome back to the extravaganza.
You know, when you work in television, everyone submits things to you,
and this next piece is by my dog, Bob.
I promised him I'd play it. He's a nice dog, but frankly, he's not much of a
filmmaker.
I apologize in advance, and now a film by my dog. I'm sorry.
- Good morning. - You don't think you should give me a piece?
I don't think I should give you a piece.
I don't think I should give you a piece.

We'll be right back with Bruce McCall.
Now, as you may know, we have been experiencing a lot of inclement weather
lately.
Freezing rain, icy wind, the kind of weather that is not conducive to taping
our out-of-door segments.
In fact, last week's remote taping was canceled for just this reason.
So, here tonight is another film by my dog, Bob.
Did you feed him?
Yes, I did.
Did you leave him water?
Yes, I left him water.
Plus, there's always the aquarium.
Bye, Bob.
Bye.
Bye.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Brother, I'm exhausted.
Oh, his dog.
There's a dog.
Sit down, Bob.
Okay, okay.
We're all going to bed, Bob.
Yeah, he looks tired.
Good night.
Good night, Bob.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Jimmy Buffett is here, and we'll be right back with him after you take a look
at this.
If you are a regular viewer of this show, you must have seen a number of films
that are made by my dog, Bob.
Well, tonight, we thought you'd enjoy taking a look at another one.
Oh, my, this is a wonderful meal.
Too bad Bob's not here to enjoy this.
Yeah, where is he?
Oh, here he is.
Oh, here he is.
Oh, here he is.
Bob, here.
Try one of these potato chips there.
Mmm, mighty good.
Does Bob like cheese?
Does he like imported cheese, Bob?
How about a half a pound of cheese?
You know, these may be the finest hot dogs money can buy.
Bob, hi, will you?
If he likes hot dogs, I'll bet he enjoyed one of these hamburgers.
Nice, ground sirloid.
Here you go, Bob.
Try one.
Just try one.
You know, I wonder if he has a taste for lamb chops.
Bob, try one of these.
There you go.
I've got some fresh dinner rolls with a little bit of that.
How about a half a dozen dinner rolls?
You know, I bet Bob might enjoy a steak.
I think we have an extra steak around here, a nice quarter house.
Bob, would you care for a steak?
There you go, Bob.
Here, let me get you some fresh ground pepper for that, Bob.
Always tell a letter.
Dinner.
Dinner.
Oh, boy, it's dinner.
There, boy, you love, it's your favorite.
There you go.
We'll be back to talk with Mary Steenburgen right after this.
Every Thursday evening, we answer our viewer mail, and we have prepared some
responses that
haven't made it to the show.
Let me read you a letter we received recently from Monroe, Michigan.
Dear Dave, we've all heard of your dog, Bob, and, of course, we've all seen his
terribly
creative films, but what about your other dog?
What's his name?
Well, his name is Stan.
Thanks for asking.
Has he made any films we might have seen?
And it comes to us from Diane and Jessica Martin from Monroe, Michigan.
Well, no, this is what we prepared, took a look at, and decided, no, we're not
going to
show it, but tonight, we're going to show it to you.
No, Stan hasn't made any films.
Stan's specialty is poetry.
Let's take a look now at some fine dog poetry.
Let's take a look now at some fine dog poetry.
Let's take a look now at some fine dog poetry.
Let's take a look now at some fine dog poetry.

Let's take a look now at some fine dog poetry.
Let's take a look now at some fine dog poetry.
We'll be right back with George Miller, folks.
Come on back.
Okay.
It's been a long time since we've done one of these.
We rooted around in the archives and I guess you know how painful that could be.
And we were able to find another.
So here once again, back by popular demand, yet another film by my dog, Bob.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Hey.
Hey.
I'll close these doors.
Here.
You're calling me.
You're calling me.
Stay.
Good boy.
We'll be right back.
Stay.
Stay.
Goodbye, Bob.
Watch your heads.
Watch your heads.
Easy, buddy.
Goodbye.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Such a brave little guy.
Okay.
This time of year, we can all look forward to once again viewing our favorite
Christmas classics, Amal and the Night Visitors, Miracle on 34th Street, Dickens,
A Christmas Carol, Dean Martin at SeaWorld.
But truly, no Christmas favorite is as beloved or as often requested as the
most beautiful story of them all.
I refer, of course, to the Christmas classic by my dog, Bob.
Okay, do you want to go down and we'll get the balloons and the pretzels and

I think about eight.

Okay.
Sounded like the dog was a heavy smoker, didn't it?
We'll be right back.
George Wallace is here, folks, so come on back.
Of course he does.
All right, I understand you have a film clip, as they say.
We have videotape.
Clips, John, as you know, are the lifeblood of the American entertainment
industry.
That's right.
Where would we be if we didn't have clips?
Exactly my point, John, and I'm glad you brought it up.
Right.
Yeah, it's a...
But, you know, normally I hate going on your show with a clip,
and I think if you'd admit it,
if somebody broke into your house and woke you up in the middle of the night,
you'd admit that you hated clips, too.
Right.
By the way, has anybody ever done that?
Broke into your house in the middle?
Just once, only once.
Anyway, what we have here tonight is a piece called Dog Poetry.
Dog Poetry.
Thank you again.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Bishop Tutu applauding up there.
So, now, originally, when the idea for this piece was...
We're in a weird business, aren't we?
Yeah, we really are.
You get away with this kind of stuff.
Okay.
I'm 38.
Earlier today, I had to have somebody else pick out my socks.
What does that tell you about me?
That's right.
Anyway, so the idea was presented to me.
We have Dog Poetry, and I was apprehensive at first,
but we went ahead and we did Dog Poetry,
and I'll give the person proper credit
after we see how it plays here.
All right.
Let's see.
This was done on the show about three months ago,
and it's something called Dog Poetry.
Watch the monitor.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Anyway, that was the idea of one of the writers,
Meryl Marcos.
It's very funny.
Come to think of it, dogs think more like humans,
and we give them credit.
But a nice, classy ending, didn't you think?
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah, very nice.
Kind of the French mime theater type of thing.
Yeah, exactly.
We have to do this.
Hold up.
Is that what you mean, Fred?
Or are you ordering a drink?
I can never tell when Fred does these,
whether it's age or whether...
There it is right here.

We'll be right back with George Miller, folks.
Come on back.
Okay.
It's been a long time since we've done one of these.
