Oh, we always have surprises here.
And now, say hello to Paul Schaefer, ladies and gentlemen,
and the world's most dangerous band.
Thank you. Thanks a lot.
You know, David, my parents are here visiting from Canada,
and they came to the show last night.
They liked it so much, they came back tonight.
So this is, you know, my mom and dad, Bernie and Shirley Schaefer,
are here with me today.
Thanks.
Hello, Dave.
Hi.
We're just thrilled about the show.
Good.
And I want to say it's a real fresh kick to be here.
That's very nice of you.
I hope Paul hasn't been too much trouble, Dave.
Mom, that's all right, Mom.
Just relax.
Paul's just...
It's okay.
Paul's fine.
Why don't you play a nice song now?
Well, we play, we don't really do it like that around here.
We play, you know, when David, you know, after he does his piece,
then we'll play.
But that's my mom and dad, and I'm thrilled to have them here with me.
Thank you, folks.
Yeah, I forgot to mention, it's Parents' Day here at the show,
and they're all the way from Thunder Bay, isn't it?
That's right.
Way up north there in Canada.
Nice to meet your parents.
Paul, thank you very much.
We're...
There are two reasons we're going to do this.
We get a lot of mail from people wanting to hear Paul Schaefer
and the World's Most Dangerous Band perform an entire song front to back.
So tonight we're going to do that.
The second reason, of course, is because Paul's parents are here.
This is very, very exciting for us.
I'm going to introduce this properly.
Paul Schaefer in the World's Most Dangerous Band.
Paul, of course, on keyboards.
Hiram Bullock on lead guitar.
Steve Jordan on drums.
And Will Lee on bass.
Ladies and gentlemen, playing Green Onions.
Thank you.

Another bit of information here concerning Paul Schaefer and the gentleman, our
drummer, Steve Jordan, is leaving tomorrow, is it?
This is last night. He's leaving just for how long?
Three weeks.
Three weeks, going to Japan, where the man is, in fact, a large musical star.
He's big over there. The guy is huge over there. Here he's nothing.
There he's huge. He's gone.
Can't get a cab in this town.
The problem is, that leaves us one drummer short, and I know you haven't hired
anyone yet, so we're going to do some auditioning here in the studio tonight.
We have pre-selected a woman, Mary Lou Gadozik. Is that correct, Mary Lou?
Oh, great. Come on down here, if you will, Mary Lou.
How do you do? Where are you from, Mary Lou?
Missouri.
From what part of Missouri?
Close to St. Louis, Festus, Missouri.
Festus, Missouri?
Yes.
This is Paul Schaefer, Mary Lou.
Oh, I'm glad to meet you.
And, of course, Hiram Bullock over there on lead guitar.
Hi, Hiram.
Have you worked with these guys before, Mary Lou?
No.
This is Will Lee, our bass player, and, of course, Steve Jordan. Have you
played drums at all before?
No.
No, I haven't.
Any musical experience?
A little guitar.
A little guitar. Well, this may be all it takes. Who knows?
Pleased to meet you, Mary Lou.
Steve, go ahead and put Mary Lou in the seat there.
Let's get up here and show her what she needs to...
You've never held a pair of sticks before, I guess.
No.
But for this tune, match grip will be fine.
The match grip.
Mary Lou will be using the match grip, ladies and gentlemen.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
Now, we're going to start off on the floor tom-tom on the song.
We'll just...
Right.
Right.
I'll count you off.
Okay.
And just...
One, two, three, four.
Oh, I got it.
You got it.
You got it.
You're going, Mary Lou.
You're fine.
You're fine.
You're going.
I think you got it.
I think she's fine.
I think it's fine.
Go.
Go.
Yeah.
All right.
Stay right there.
Stay right there on the floor tom-tom.
You're going.
Same beat you were playing before.
It's fantastic.
Keep going.
I lost it.
No, keep going.
You got it.
Yeah.
I think you were great.
I think you were absolutely right.
I think she...
Very nice.
I think she'll work out fine.
That was unbelievable.
Thank you very much, Mary Lou.
Thank you, Steve.
I appreciate it.
Have a good trip.
I look forward to seeing you back.
Thank you.
Mary Lou, for your help, we have a...
You can make your choice of albums here.
We have Joey Bishop Sings Country and Western.
My Heart Belongs to Only You, Larry Hovis.
And we have the Regis Philbin Album.
Which of those would you like, Mary Lou?
Go ahead and pick one.
It's hard.
It's really hard.
Well, I think you got to go with Regis' hair.
You think so?
I think so.
I'll give you that one.
We'll hang on to these.
You were very good.
Thank you very much.
Mary Lou, you doze it.
Yes.
From Festus, Missouri.
We'll be right back with Yusuf Kars.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
