yes sir-ee thank you paul and uh welcome back to the program ladies and
gentlemen my next guest
is the first person we've ever had on the show named apollonia
she is one of the stars of the film purple rain and is also a singer with this
group
right here apollonia six we have also discovered that she is a former rigid
tool calendar girl and
many many other things please welcome apollonia katero
you look terrific by the way thank you for being here thank you for having me
now i mentioned you're
the first person we've had on the show named apollonia now that's an unusual
name isn't
yes it is now is there does it mean uh something special that we should know
about or actually my my full name is patricia apollonia katero that's thanks to
my parents
apollonia is uh apollo the sun god for uh the god of literature and music
have you ever run into another apollonia no yeah now where did you first uh
meet prince
may i say that on tv no uh during the during the auditions um this was about um
a little over a year
ago uh-huh you've never met him before now do you live in minneapolis i have a
second home there now
but i live in west hollywood oh i see i was under the impression that you you
met uh in the state of
minnesota but that's well actually you didn't meet there but you didn't live
there yeah uh and has a
a your sort of uh a relationship has evolved from this hasn't it we are
business partners it's very
important you have to separate the business from the pleasure pleasure for us
is going for a motorcycle
ride uh playing basketball eating ice cream playing basketball he's very good i
beat him once though
just one time well he must be very good
must be a regular bob koozie if he's only lost once
now but but you know what i'm saying is there a romantic involvement here no i
i don't kiss and tell
well no i'm not i'm i mean but just i we are business partners and that's it
really
uh now in in the movie uh he mistreats you uh extensively doesn't he abuses you
verbally and
actually physically pushes you around him now is is there any of that to the
real person no
no not at all what kind of man is he to be with prince is a he is a very giving
man he is a he has
a heart of gold he is a heart of gold paul you're getting married i'm crushed
if you can be there the
stage of the sands hotel on stage middle of my show i'll marry you anytime
terrific
or if you want to be business partners
oh my gosh yes siree well uh now where were we so where were we so what do you
do when you go out
with prince the two of you go someplace we uh we go dancing uh basically we're
both married to our
music so we don't really go out you know time is money we're making music
making more films are you
working on a film now i have actually uh two films another one's going to be a
musical and the uh i
have another one that's sort of a crime drama so it's it's it's difficult to
try to select another
musical that's going to be you know equivalent to purple rain or better you're
an actress and you're
a uh a musician and a model now which of these would you want to pursue full-time
a model if i was
a model i'd be a foot and a half taller residing in new york city i don't model
i tried well you
weren't no that's not true look at this no listen if they paid you what they
paid me to hold a wrench
i'd hold a wrench right now these people pay very good money this is miss uh
this is you as miss rigid
uh patty cataro photographed so on and so forth now this is uh do you know what
you're holding
there what tool that is i don't know but like i said they paid excellent money
like rolling stone
save the tool jokes for later no really do what now
i did you lost me there rolling stone do what you're saying rolling stone made
a little comment
about this and they said uh it wasn't as spicy as finding a nude photo in my
past but um to save
the tool jokes for later oh okay oh we are doing a commercial here oh we're not
doing a commercial
in that kind of a night i thought there for a second we were doing a commercial
we're not
you're fully stocked here you have everything well yeah i've got my hands full
look at all of this
stuff i
uh i have a special line this is you talking about uh prince i have a special
line to call him on at all
times special line is that true you have a special phone line you call him how
is that like a 800 number
of watch no actually it's a phone that uh i'm able to reach him at all times at
all times you want to
try it let's give it a try
actually no actually he's not home right now he's on the road
well that's now you're being unfair to this woman i brought it up and you can't
get a hold of him
now right okay so we'll do a commercial and then come right back oh we do have
a commercial we do or
we're not oh we do well we'll be right back
hi there uh we're back with apollonia katero and uh then they when you perform
on stage with
this group everybody actually just wears their uh this exotic looking stuff don't
they exactly
yeah now whose idea was that it was inspired by the previous group vanity six i
decided instead of
wearing spikes i like to wear rhinestones i don't wear boots i wear high heels
but actually it's very
fun to work with it's very glamorous and we don't wear it to sleep though
because it's very uncomfortable
you don't sleep with it no it takes so much time yeah and you know people wear
less on the beach
well that's true but it certainly is a dramatic look it makes a statement yeah
well good luck to
you apollonia it was a pleasure meeting you and thank you so much for being
here thank you thank you
my next guest will be appearing in person
larry nice job that was very funny as always what do you have there in your uh
you know apollonia and martin were not listed in today's new york times and my
mother pointed this
out because it says comedian larry miller face of the 80s contest winner but
she thought that was a comma
she thought it was comedian larry miller the face of the 80s contest winner
yeah now let me let me see
this this is for tonight it could happen this is what happened to the uh why
now why aren't our
other wonderful guests listed here that's shabby paper like the times what are
we uh well now how come
they're not in here we should have had apollonia in there we should have had
martin short in there
what's the problem with that it's what last minute what it's last minute
booking
so now what happened to but what happened to the face of the 80s winner here he
is she's in europe
oh she's in europe all right well i think we did better uh with the folks we
had uh larry nice to
