Ladies and gentlemen, last week we had our very first vacation and all staff
members were able to go away and rest and spend time with their family, their
friends, and their loved ones.
So we thought tonight it might be fun to bring out a few of our staff members
and have you, have them tell you how they spent their week off, how they spent
their vacation.
So do me a favor now, please welcome our staff members, Leslie Coplin, Gerard
Mulligan, and Mary Connelly.
Kids, come on in here.
First of all, thank you for all your hard work and I hope you enjoyed your vacations.
Thank you.
And you know, on my vacation, I did a little something that I do every time I
get a free moment or two.
I went upstate and I play in this little fiddle contest every year.
Hal, roll the videotape of me on vacation.
I think you get a kick.
There I am right there.
Okay, that's enough.
That's what I did.
All right, fine.
That's enough.
Okay.
All right, stop it.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Now, Leslie, why don't you tell people what it is you do on the program here?
I'm a talent assistant.
Talent assistant and that means what exactly?
I work with the guests, helping to book the guests.
Yeah, I think I've seen you around the office.
Yeah.
And how did you spend your week off?
I went to Florida, mostly Miami.
That's nice.
Miami?
With my husband, Charles.
Good.
You have family down there?
His whole family is down there.
So was that fun, spending time with the in-laws?
It was very much fun.
I did a lot of driving and I haven't driven a lot.
And I'm also not that familiar with the Florida area.
How is it you haven't driven a lot?
I just got my license about a year ago.
I live in Manhattan, so.
I just got my license back about a year ago.
So how were you able to get around, not knowing the city?
Well, at one point we were going from Miami Beach to South Beach and we had to
rely on
my father-in-law who gave me very, very extensive directions.
He's good at giving directions?
Yes, he's more than sufficient at it.
He just goes on and on and on.
All right, a little too much information.
Yeah.
All right, we have him on videotape now, I believe, giving you instructions how
to get
from Miami Beach to South Beach.
Okay, roll it, Hal.
You go down to 63rd Street.
Okay, at 63rd, you make a right turn, you go across the little bridge, you see
St. Francis
Hospital on your left.
When you go down, you go across 63rd Street, you know as far as you can go,
which will be
the first left, which is Indian Creek, go down Indian Creek Drive, it'll run
into Washington
Avenue, go straight down Washington Avenue to like 12th, 14th, 15th Street,
make a left
over to the ocean.
Okay, so now you have the information from your father-in-law, you're ready to
make the
trip.
What happened?
Well, we went, but...
Jumped in the car.
Actually, I have another videotape.
All right, took off.
More videotape.
Roll it, Hal.
Green, you're going to go straight to the second traffic light, and then you're
going
to make a left.
So at Harding?
Well, actually, here it's not Harding, it's something else.
So it's not this first line?
That's correct, it's the one after that.
So, Dad made it along on the trip, didn't he?
Yes, he did.
Well, good for you, I'm glad you had a lovely vacation.
Thank you, I did.
Gerard Mulligan.
Yes, sir.
Nice to see you, you've been with us for a while.
Quite a while.
Gerard is one of our writers, how did you spend your week off?
Well, I stayed home in New Jersey, and on Monday of that week,
I went to the brownie investiture of my daughter, Catherine.
Oh, that must have been very nice.
It was terrific.
Very exciting for you.
Very proud of her.
Yeah.
She was very proud.
Good.
It worked out great.
How old is your daughter?
She's six years old.
And was this like the thrill of her life?
Well, so far, yeah.
Yeah.
But I'm hoping, I mean, I'm hoping there'll be other things down the line.
Okay, well, that's good.
Other things down the line.
You have to start somewhere, sure.
I understand that, yeah.
And this is where she gets her brownie uniform, officially gets it.
So it's a big day for her.
Yeah, in fact, I brought her along tonight in the brownie uniform, so you can
get a look
of her.
Well, that'd be great.
She's here.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're running his daughter, Catherine Mulligan.
All right.
All right, dude.
Thank you, guys.
Who's the princess today, buddy?
Hi, Catherine.
How are you?
Hi, everybody.
Nice to see you.
Thank you very much.
You're very cute, buddy.
You look very nice.
That's a very nice uniform.
Thank you for joining us tonight.
Does Dad say nice things about me at the house?
All right.
All right, so we have some photos here.
I'll hold these up, and you just tell us what we're looking at.
All right, this is George Penny's vacation.
Now, this is Catherine right before she made the...
Beautiful young girl.
Thank you.
Right before she made her brownie vow.
All right.
This is Catherine actually making the brownie vow.
Taking the brownie vow.
Looks like she might actually be singing the brownie vow.
I think she did it.
Yes, she did it.
Okay.
All right.
What else do we have here?
This is right afterwards.
This is my wife, Ellen, the proud mom and daughter.
All right.
And you might want to mention your son, Kevin, so he doesn't feel like that.
He's in the green room tonight.
Okay.
There you go.
All right.
And what else?
What is this one here?
This is the proud dad and daughter.
This is kind of strange.
You have a long, difficult life ahead of you.
Thank you very much.
Nice to see you.
It was enjoyable.
And congratulations, Catherine.
So, Mary, tell the folks what you do here on the program.
I'm a segment producer.
Segment producer, and that means you produce the little segments we do.
That's right.
Good for you.
All right.
I have to get to a staff meeting.
And what did you do on your vacation?
I went to Club Med in Martinique.
Yeah, it must have been beautiful there.
It was beautiful.
You know, Martinique is the Paris of the Antilles.
Is that right?
I didn't know that.
Yeah.
And what all did you do down there?
Well, there were lots of activities to do, lots of competitions to take part in.
Athletic competitions?
Yes.
I brought a photo.
Okay.
Let's see what this is right here.
Wow.
You're out like a carp.
Yeah, well, there...
Ladies and gentlemen, this was no boating accident.
Man.
Well, I started out napping.
Were you left for dead on the beach?
It was only for a few days.
Yeah, I think here's the secret of this Club Med punch right here.
Adios!
Kaboom!
All right, so you dozed off there.
What else?
I did wake up in time to take part in the egg toss competition.
Oh, wow.
Island egg toss.
And win it with my teammate, Gary.
Okay.
Is Gary here tonight?
No, Gary is not here tonight.
Oh, what a shame that is.
All right, let's take a look at this medal here.
This is for winning the egg toss.
For winning the egg toss.
Oh, that's beautiful.
We toss the egg without breaking it the farthest distance.
And then the person who can do that without busting it is the winner.
All right, we have some eggs.
Let's give it a shot.
Do you mind?
What was the winning distance?
Probably about 40 feet.
40 feet.
Okay, here we go.
Let me see.
All right.
Well, I have here some eggs.
Catherine, why don't you hold the eggs for us?
And if we need any more, bring them right over.
Okay?
Do you mind?
Okay.
That's a job a brownie ought to be able to handle.
All right.
So, let's just turn.
Yeah.
So, we just.
We're just warming up, for heaven's sakes.
All right.
Let me try.
It's just an underhand toss.
Okay, here we go.
Uh-oh.
Oh, a little heat.
I'm sorry.
Yeah, you want to kind of loft it more than that.
Okay.
Now, show me the distance we're talking about for the metal.
Well, if you head to that corner, I'll head over here.
We'll try this.
You ready?
Yeah, I'm ready.
All right.
Cover yourselves, kids.
That's a beauty.
Oh!
You ready?
Where the hell is that Gary?
All right.
One more.
Here we go.
Let's just see if we got something going.
Okay.
Very nice.
Congratulations.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, Leslie.
Nice to see you.
Catherine, congratulations.
Pleasure meeting you.
Thank you, Gerard.
We have to do a commercial, ladies and gentlemen.
We're right back here.
Hey, hey, look out, look out, yeah.
