and now here's an investigative report on why men drive women nuts is
contributing editor and
international beauty expert meryl marco thanks annabelle remind me to find out
what it is you
use to make your hair do that welcome to the section of the show where we
discuss things of
concern to women and this week here's kind of a different topic our topic is
men who are they
what do they want and exactly what do they mean by that behavior joining me are
three men who all
feel that in some ways they are typical i'd like to introduce my panel to you
first we have keith
who is a drama teacher at chico state community college yes we're doing flower
drum song and
everyone's invited and next we have ken who owns and manages the beef bowl six
franchises in the
greater metropolitan area we are now open seven days a week great appreciate it
and last we have
ron our investment banker no i'm not really an investment banker you see ideal
in futures now
futures fabulous that's so interesting well i'm gonna throw our first question
open to anyone on
the panel uh the first thing i wanted to ask is something that bothers a lot of
women that i know
the way men watch tv these days with a remote control changer every three
seconds a different
show click click click why do men want to watch television in three second
increments these days
meryl can i explain the phenomenon it's a kind of quest quest for information
desire to see it all
experience it all not miss one single moment why not i thought this panel was
going to be about men
meryl if you want to talk about remote control i believe i'm the one you want
to ask see i own a
satellite dish which is capable of uh oh picking up over 450 separate channels
450 yes and that's just domestic
now i'm not going to take 450 television sets and line them all up who's got
the floor space who's got the floor space
so in other words what i think i'm picking up here is that it's not solely to
drive women nuts well that's not the only reason of course no well meryl my
perspective is a little different because i'm not married
i'm single never found the right woman huh well still playing the field i don't
really want to rush because
let me let me address my next uh question to you the second question is this
whenever a man and a woman are together no matter who has the better driving
record the man always insists on driving i don't know if you've noticed this
and then if he gets lost a man will never stop the car and ask for directions
he'll never take out a map
now i will always ask for directions i will always look at a map but i have a
friend tobias who nobody wants to hear about your friend look i thought this
topic was going to be about men well i may i i do insist on driving and i it's
not for any
reason that any of these people would understand it wouldn't be because you
consider your wife a lousy driver would it no it would not and as a matter of
fact my wife doesn't even live with me anymore she now lives in a sanitarium
big surprise
would you drive her nuts no i didn't drive her nuts and i didn't let her drive
the car to the sanitarium i have a very expensive automobile
oh could i touch it oh stop let me shut up let me could i be could i jump i
think that people
men want to leave they want to not look at the map because they want it's a
carry back from when the days when they were hunters and they were
gatherers and they wore the pouches i bet i know who was a gatherer in his
tribe
i wonder if he's hunting that's uh you know it's an uh it brings us to a very
another interesting ironic point because since hunting and gathering the modern
day parallel to that would have to be shopping why is it the men as a whole are
so averse to shopping for anything except for instance electronic equipment
stereo equipment cds
i'm not me not me i could live at the pottery barn oh well why don't you for
crying out loud look for myself i don't shop because my old lady likes to shop
alone
she's always whining that i never bring home the staples i just bring beer and
and and condiments all but i do love to see the look on her face when she opens
the grocery bag expecting to see vegetables
and there's just beer nuts same face my my mother used to make when i made uh
can i say it on cable tv fart sounds oh oh i'm gonna vomit
what's that face there can we leave the locker room that's a long time since
you've made that request huh
now let's let's just move on to my next question another thing women i want to
know women i know would like to know is why is it that men don't seem at ease
talking about their feelings
have you ever noticed that the women all seem to think that you live with a man
he goes to work he spends eight hours away he comes home you say did you have a
nice day what'd you do today
i don't know i don't know i don't know i can why don't you answer that
uh i don't know well i do know i i'm sure i know you see men don't have
feelings per se
maryl he's tormenting me here i feel like richard simmons
all right thank you that's much better i have a last question another thing
women i know would like to know
is when a man goes out with a woman at the end of what appears to have been a
very successful date the guy will
say had a nice time and uh i'll call you later knowing full well i think at the
time that he doesn't intend
to call her because he never does call her the woman sits around obsessed
waiting for a phone call that never
i can think i can answer that from personal experience it's because of the look
the woman gets on her face when you do that tour
and a week or two later you run into her at a party
then you say you forgot give me the number again you promise to call her again
next week
thank you it's really it's uh it's been a pleasure meeting you all really uh
thank you so much for coming i think that explains a lot
thank you annabelle thank you meryl we'll be right back
