by the way we have a film clip yes what is this is this from your show yes this
is from the show
do you think this is going to create or what well i don't know this was one of
the few pieces that
the authorities didn't confiscate so uh we thought it would be fun to take a
family uh man and wife
celebrating an anniversary and bring them on to the show and have them
celebrate the anniversary
while the show was in progress so we found a couple named sam and betty cotton
off who were
wonderful people from new jersey who were celebrating their 30th anniversary
and uh we decided we'd have
a party well you can't just have a party you got to get a guy who as they say
does parties and uh we
got this guy and he thought the big finale ought to be dropping pink petals
down on the group while
they were dancing traumatic and and also lighting sparklers well uh the pink
petals as it turned out
had been soaked in rocket fuel and the sparklers were these new laser sparklers
and uh the government
is experimenting with and uh uh it was a potentially a fire hazard well yeah
and uh as it turned out the
potential was fulfilled and what we're going to see now is uh is about two
minutes of the end of the
party the show had not gone well all right and i think i think you can tell by
what i am doing and
saying and then watch for the reaction of sam cotton off the guest of honor
when he realizes his shoes are on fire

- Here.
- You never want to get a fire on you.
- No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- That's still going over there, maybe a little bit.
- Go!
- The famous Kotsenoff fire dance.
- Oh, it was wonderful.
Shortly thereafter, Mayor Koch in New York
passed legislation requiring flame-proof pants
at any event anywhere involving an anniversary.
- It's not in particularly good taste
to set your guests on fire.
This is one of the problems.
You should write that down.
- If I'd have known that, maybe I'd be on the air.
- When you ever have a show again, put that down.
Do not set guests on fire.
That's funny.
We're going to come back and do some commercials for you
the way you'd like to see them after this.
- That's it, David.
- Thank you very much, Ed.
