You know, in this season, what seems to be the season of reunion tours, our
next guests
have been working together steadily for the last 25 years.
This right here, ladies and gentlemen, is their newest album entitled Built to
Last,
and it will be released and in the stores on Halloween.
Please welcome back to this program Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir of The Grateful
Dead.
Thank you.
And I've changed the mind once or not at all.
Oh, little girl, if that keeps I don't want to talk, that would only break my
heart.
Well, if you feel like loving me, if you've got the notion, secondary emotion.
Well, if you feel like giving me a lifetime of emotion, secondary emotion.
Maybe you think that love will tear me down, so you've got the time to hang
around.

Well, if you feel like loving me, well, if you feel like giving me a lifetime
of devotion, secondary emotion.
Oh, sure.
Nice to see you.
Nice to see you.
Yes, sir.
Sounded great, huh?
Thank you.
Very nice.
You guys are in town for how long?
Are you finishing up or did you just get here?
We're in the middle of it.
Right in the middle.
This is supposed to be our day.
Well, thank you.
I appreciate it.
It used to be.
It was.
And then you're continuing to tour all over?
No, not all over.
It's just an eastern infestation, kind of.
And also there's discussion, and I don't know if this is accurate or partly
true, but you may be going to Russia?
Yeah, we're talking pretty seriously about it, yeah.
Yeah, and how soon would that be?
May, I think.
Yeah.
And how long would you be there?
Until they let us out.
And do you imagine that as a tour all over the country, all over the Soviet
Union, or just in one city?
Probably just Moscow.
Yeah.
But I would probably play Europe.
Yeah.
So that would be pretty exciting, I would think.
I hope so.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, good luck.
And did you get some duck?
Did you get a chance to enjoy some of that?
No, no.
I can't eat them.
They're too fuzzy and cute.
How many albums have you guys done as a band?
I think this is the 20th, maybe.
Something like that.
I think more than that, but something like that.
Yeah, pretty impressive.
The name of the new album, Built to Last.
Nice to see you guys again.
Thank you very much for being here.
Bob Weir.
We'll be right back.
Is that it?
15?
Okay.
My thanks to everybody who is here tonight.
Julia Child, Woody Harrelson, and of course, Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia.
Now, we're off Saturday and Sunday because of the special coverage of the
Olympics.
We'll be back Monday night with Tom Hanks, Mike Wallace, and Eddie Money.
Good night, everybody.
