Welcome back to the show.
So, during the commercial, I'm over there talking to the band about this jumbo
jacket,
and Will Lee, in fact, says to me, yeah, it looks like an overcoat, right?
So you're in agreement the thing looks too big?
It's a winter kind of thing.
It's a winter kind of thing, but in addition to that, it's too large, don't you
think?
It's just plain big.
Thank you very much.
On the show tomorrow, actor Bruno Kirby, who Matthew Broderick mentioned, will
be joining us,
and Sam Kinison, that will be tomorrow.
I'm sorry, Sam Donaldson.
Sam Donaldson from ABC News.
Sam Donaldson will be here.
Not Sam Kinison at all, it's Sam Donaldson.
But, hey, look, it is Bruno Kirby.
He'll be here tomorrow.
Coming up on the show tonight from Saturday Night Live, Michael Myers will be
joining us,
and we have a gentleman who is an expert on litter, Dan Cyreck.
You folks are in hypnosis, aren't you?
And in addition to that, ladies and gentlemen, Simon the singing Pekingese.
All of that yet to come.
You know, see, where it is, it's the shoulders.
There's just too much material in the shoulders.
We have, it's a running battle.
I just, I want to dress like Burt Convy.
That's all.
I'd be a happy man.
And now, you know, I'm like a flight attendant from Milan would wear this.
So, hey, what the hell is that?
I can't, oh my God, I can't stop.
But, you know, it aids indigestion.
You should try that.
Here, watch this.
Every time I do that, and every time I have done that on the program for what,
Paul, the last eight years?
At least.
That sound effect has been made for us by Howard Vanitsky.
Hal, see if Howard is back there in his little sound effects room.
Can you do that?
Can you get a camera?
We can spare and put back there and see if Howard is with us tonight.
There we go.
Oh, my God, it's another camera race.
Look out.
There's Howard Vanitsky right there.
Hi, Howard.
How are you?
I'm good.
I'm okay.
I'm okay.
Howard, do you enjoy being alone in your little room?
Well, some of the time it's okay, but I like company too.
I know.
I think you're better off where you are.
Now, Howard, the cassette in which the tape was that made that sound effect,
where is that, Howard?
It's right over here.
All right, pull that out of the machine.
Okay.
And run as fast as you can out here.
Hurry, Howard.
Come on.
Here we go, Paul.
A little music for Howard.
Howard, get out of here.
Come on, Howard.
Hey.
Oh, hey.
Come on, Howard.
Easy.
What the?
And here's Howard Vanitsky right here.
Now, what do you think of the jacket?
A little too big.
Howard, this is your last night with us on the show?
Well, we're all very, very sad.
You're leaving, and you're going to do what?
Well, I'm going to be moving out to California.
Moving to California?
Yes.
Just kind of a change of pace.
We'll see you on Dallas.
Maybe.
As Jake Ewing, the sound effects boy.
Excuse me.
Well, I'm going to miss you, and I, you know, in the whole time you've been
here, I think
you only have maybe missed one or two of those pencil shots, and I really,
really appreciate
all your support back there.
Well, it's been really great working for you.
It's been like a terrific eight years, and it's been like the greatest
experience of my
life, and I'm going to miss it, too.
Okay.
Now, now, we're going to remember you every night.
Here's what we're going to do.
Bring it down, boys.
We're going to retire this sound effect, and we're going to have it hanging
here in the
rafters.
Let me put it right up there.
Just hook it on someplace.
Yeah, we're going to put it right on there.
Yeah, okay.
This is the same device they used on Merv Griffin earlier, I think.
Okay, here we go.
Take it up there.
The cass...
There.
That's not all.
Is she back there as the late-night magic lady back there?
Come on out.
We have a little something for you.
Here she is again.
Thank you very much.
That's a belt and a wallet.
All right.
Thanks a lot.
Howard Benitsky, ladies and gentlemen.
We'll be right back.
We'll be right back.
