Bobby Womack is on the program.
Syndicated cartoonist Linda Berry will be joining us.
Now, here's a reason.
Now, I know tomorrow is Saturday.
You don't have school tomorrow.
Yeah.
So, here's a good reason to be staying up.
Later in the program, we have a bird.
It's a trained...
What is it? It's an owl, right, Morty?
It's an owl.
It's some kind of jungle owl.
They're very rare.
They're from Bolivia or Peru.
What?
It's a mina bird.
It's a mina bird.
And later in the program, this mina bird, and they get to be...
How big are they?
Well, actually, in the wild.
You know, you can get them to be eight, nine feet.
But the one we have here tonight is a desk size, right?
This mina bird has been taught by his owner, what?
To sing...
To sing...
Blueberry Hill.
Blueberry Hill.
That's right.
So, that's right.
From beginning to end.
Huh?
We hope.
What do you mean?
No, no.
So, set those VCRs and get ready for real fun, because we'll have a mina bird
out here in
about, just about 55 minutes, singing Blueberry Hill, a television first.
Now, over there in the corner is our friend, Paul Schaefer, ladies and
gentlemen.
Hi.
Linda Berry will be here in a matter of moments.
Musician Bobby Womack, who's sitting in with the band all evening, will be
playing a little
bit later.
What are we going to hear?
One of his new tunes, Save the Children.
Save the Children.
And also, oh, the singing mina bird will sing the...
Have you heard this, Paul?
Yeah.
Have you rehearsed with the bird?
No, no rehearsal as yet.
How come?
Well, we didn't get to it.
The bird, and your bird, couldn't exactly sing before the show, but perhaps he
will sing.
Now, don't, don't screw this up for me.
Well, we were set up.
We were ready to rehearse.
We never quite got to hear him sing before the show.
Right.
Well, you're telling me the bird is drunk?
We're glad.
We hope very, we hope that he's going to sing when it comes to...
Simon, the singing mina bird to sing...
Blueberry Hill.
That's right.
All right.
Okay.
I want to thank Bobby Womack.
Thanks, Bobby.
Nice job.
Nice having you here.
And Linda Berry.
Linda, nice to see you.
Have a good time back in Chicago.
And my thanks also to Tom Selleck.
We'll be on again Tuesday, ladies and gentlemen, with George Foreman.
Win or lose after his big bout with Jerry Cooney down there in Atlantic City.
Okay, kids, here it is.
Get ready.
Hang on to something.
All the way from Pinellas Park, Florida, to sing Blueberry Hill.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Simon, the singing mina bird.
Simon, go.
Somebody cue the bird.
Come on.
Very nice, Paul.
All the way from Pinellas Park, on our show Friday night.
Paul, do you remember the big show Friday night?
We had the singing parrot, the singing toucan, the singing minor bird.
Yeah, that's right.
The singing minor bird.
That's right.
And he was going to sing Blueberry Hill.
And we had been contacted by these people like three months ago.
And they said he knows like the first half of the first verse of Blueberry Hill.
As soon as he learns the entire song, we're going to fly him into your show.
We'll put him on and he'll sing the entire song Blueberry Hill.
Well, he was not able to sing Blueberry Hill.
But tonight, we understand we have a bunny who will sing the entire song Blueberry
Hill.
Now, this bunny is all the way from the Northbrook Petting Zoo in Camp Hill,
Pennsylvania.
And in just a moment, is he ready to go?
All right, we might as well do it right now.
Are you ready, Paul?
Yes, I'm ready.
Where is it?
There it is.
Oh, that's a beautiful.
Okay.
This now, did you, Paul, did you get a chance to rehearse?
I didn't get a chance to, but I understand.
Now, wait a minute.
How can the bunny possibly sing properly if there was no rehearsal?
Well, they told me to be flat and that he does the bridge.
And so I'm.
But now, did you rehearse with the bird on Friday night?
Well, we didn't get to rehearse with the bird either.
Oh, no.
But I'm sure the bunny, this will be much better.
Okay.
All right.
So now, if everybody is ready, here we go to sing Blueberry Hill.
Please welcome Simon, the singing bunny.
Go.
Go.
Oh, no.
Get out.
Get him out of here.
Get him out of here.
Get him out of here.
I'm sorry.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Get out.
Get him out of here.
Get him out of here.
Get him out of here.
I'm sorry.
All right.
Thank you.
The prop... What is it?
Yeah, I did. I needed it. Thank you very much.
We'll get to that tomorrow.
Tomorrow on the program, Jacques Cousteau will be joining us.
And also... Huh? Yeah, Jacques Cousteau.
The band is stunned.
That's fabulous.
Yeah, Jacques Cousteau. What's it to you?
Yes, exactly. Singing Blueberry Hill. So there.
Yeah, well, also, with a head full of helium, he'll sing it, so...
And Olivia Newton-John. Now, there, kids. There's, yeah.
Olivia Newton-John?
That's right. Oh, so...
And Jacques Cousteau.
Okay. We'll be right back, folks. We have to do a commercial.
This man has spent so much time of his life underwater before the program, I
saw him backstage doing this.
And Olivia Newton-John is on our program.
Fran Leibovitz, gifted author, is on the program.
Fran Leibovitz and...
Huh? What? Who said that?
The gifted author, Fran Leibovitz.
Yeah, Fran Leibovitz. That's right.
That one, I wonder...
Oddly enough, she was backstage doing this.
Last Friday night, we had a minor bird on the program.
The minor bird's name was...
Morty.
Al.
Our minor bird's name was not Al.
The producer of our show, Brian Boitano, ladies and gentlemen.
Brian Boitano.
Sam.
Simon.
And the bird was named Sam.
Simon.
Simon.
Oh, man.
The bird's name was Simon, and he was here to sing Blueberry Hill.
Well, he got stage fright and couldn't do it.
So in the meantime, some people called up with a rabbit, and they said, we have
a rabbit that sings.
The rabbit last night was on the program.
Did not do much better.
Tonight, we have a singing lizard.
A singing lizard who will also be producing this show.
No!
It's only a joke.
You know, kids, uh...
Okay, Fran, hang around.
We got something for you tonight.

Man, that guy is goofier than he ever was.
Uh, let's see, oh, uh, oh, it's time, it's the time, is the lobster here?
