It's showtime, ladies and gentlemen.
In other words, it's time for the big show.
You know, boy, there's a lot of odd stuff going on in the world here lately.
There was a bizarre story in the New York Times earlier today.
According now, to an Italian psychic, this woman is claiming that she is
getting calls
from the spirit of Michelangelo.
And that he contacted her during his sayance.
And apparently, he kept wanting to know the same thing over and over again.
Which was, "What is Leon Spinks up to these days?"
Interesting.
I don't get this either.
What happened? Did I miss something?
Sure.
According to an article in the USA Today this morning,
the Pennsylvania State Police have now just developed a new breathalyzer test
that will determine how much soup you've had.
I'll see that again. Let me see that again.
Yeah, pretty much got all of that one.
But you don't think that's odd that they would have a test now
that could tell you how much soup you've had?
The audience agrees that, yes, it's odd.
Oh, it is odd.
Boy, I wish we could start this one over.
Well, and exciting news in Germany.
And this is interesting.
Now, they're talking to citizens of West Germany, and a majority of those
people surveyed
say that they would like to merge with East Germany.
And maybe then with Poland, Czechoslovakia, who knows, Belgium, France?
Interesting.
Okay, Paul, let's start it all over. Here we go.
We'll just begin the whole damn thing when we just start the whole thing.
Maybe I won't come out first.
We'll be right back.
From New York, Tokyo West, here he is now, David Letterman!
There it is, ladies and gentlemen.
One 100%, 100 proof, certifiable flop sweat.
There it is.
Just right all over there.
But, you know, it looks like the East German government will now actually come
out ahead on this whole day.
Today, they sold the wall to Mitsubishi.
So, everybody...
Flop sweat.
On the show tonight, Ed Begley Jr., Animal Logic, Kelly Lynch, and here's our
good friend Paul Schaefer.
Paul, how are you?
A little warm.
Hello, boys.
Thank you very much.
Well, David, take heart because this is an auspicious occasion.
Yeah, how's that?
Our 10 millionth show tonight.
That's right.
It didn't seem like that many.
It really made it to a lot of shows.
I was going over the calendar today.
You're right.
It's 10 million.
10 million shows.
Here it is.
Yeah.
All right.
All right.
Get ready.
Let's play some chess.
Let's play chess.
Thank you.
