And now, please say hello to our friend Paul. He's right over here. Paul, let's
take a look at him.
Will.
Thank you very much.
And Bailey.
Thank you. Thank you, Dave. Thank you for putting me on a first-name basis with
the American public.
I'm just thrilled.
Yeah, yeah. You appreciate that.
I love it.
That means a great deal to you.
I'm on a first-name basis with everyone out there on TV.
I have kind of an announcement to make. Not kind of an announcement. This is
actually an announcement.
This comes to the NBC television network by way of the United States federal
government.
Ah.
So you know it's important. And I guess you've probably, if you've been
watching television today, you've probably heard this before.
But they asked me to once again pass this information along.
Sunday at 2 a.m.
Boy, did you see that? Did I spit?
Yeah.
Did you see it?
Yeah, thank you.
Do you go through that, Paul? Sometimes you think you can get away with it.
But that one had such mass, I thought...
No, that one will be detected.
Well, a nice call on your part, though, not to try to get away with it, but to
actually just go for it.
In fact, it's still with us, well.
That's rather unpleasant altogether.
At 2 a.m. Sunday morning, we had to set our clocks...
We...
At 2 a.m. we had to set them to 3 a.m.
That's right.
That's right.
Thus entering the season of daylight savings time.
We get an extra hour of daylight.
Now, for reasons I don't fully understand, the United States government is
asking us to do the same thing next Sunday.
Okay.
I don't know.
I just...
I don't know either.
Are you all right?
I'm all right.
I don't know.
Is it warmer in here than it ought to be or something?
Feeling okay?
Are you under a...
What?
Do you need a break or something?
Are you okay?
Oh, yes.
Of course.
I always need a break.
I think the answer to that question is always, yes, Dave needs a break.
Yeah.
But I don't know.
Maybe...
Is it stuffy in here?
Yes.
Oh, anyway.
We got a pretty good program tonight.
We have Katie Couric.
New...
They announced it Thursday.
She is...
She is the...
Did you have shrimp salad in the commissary today?
No, I didn't.
You had it, eh?
She is the new co-host of the NBC Today show.
Katie Couric.
Yeah.
A very, very, very good young journalism woman.
Woman.
You boys tell me where I can get me a good journalism woman.
Also, we have Graham Parker, a fabulous musician.
Fine rock and roll man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And...
Holly Draper from 30-something.
30-something.
On tonight's program, she was married on the 30-something show.
Oh, on the 30-something program.
Dave, are you okay?
I'm getting...
I'm worried about you.
I'm getting very, very worried now.
You know what I need?
And this has never happened.
I need a breath of fresh air.
I should say so.
How about you?
Could you use a breath of fresh air?
I'll go with you if you want.
Uh, Morty, you want a breath of fresh air?
No, thanks.
Hey, Gaines, let's go get a breath of fresh air.
Now, come on.
Go with us.
We'll do your...
Ha!
No, come on.
Go with us.
All right.
Uh...
Bailey, how about you?
You want a breath of fresh air?
Ready to go, Dave.
Okay, great.
Uh, let's see.
Uh, Biff?
Yep.
Al.
Al, you come with us.
No, come on, Al.
Go with us.
Al, please go with us.
I'll think it over.
I'll come back to you.
I'll come back to you.
Uh, Penny, you want to go with us?
Al, let's go.
No.
All right.
Rose, you want to make this trip?
We're going to go out.
We're going to get us a fresh air and breath of...
We'll be right back.
Take care.
Lock it down, Bailey.
Okay.
Al, come on.
Go with us.
Come on, please, Al.
It's a favor to me.
Oh, screw you.
I got...
I got to do it again.
Okay.
All right.
It's good.
I'm coming.
There we go.
Everybody ready?
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
Just go back.
I'm much better.
I'm much better.
You know, so let me tell you, I would much rather do that than take some
tablets.
I think that's good.
Don't you think so?
I would, too.
If you're feeling a little odd, instead of running right to the medicine
cabinet as, you
know, we've become in this nation a society of pill poppers.
Yeah.
I would much rather go downstairs and get myself a breath of fresh air than
consume a lot
of dangerous analgesics.
And we applaud you for that.
We applaud that.
As you can see, you seem to be applauding that.
I'm not sure why.
I think the audience wishes I was full of pills.
You know, folks, you couldn't have selected a better night to tune in because,
Paul, tonight
was the night and now is the time.
That's right.
It's lucky number time.
Here we go.
Get ready.
Hello.
I'm Leanne.
I'm the late night lucky number lady.
And it's time for tonight's late night lucky number.
Well, almost.
What?
Why don't you go get a breath of fresh air?
All right.
Turn it on, Al.
Is it ready?
Ready.
Oh, here's the problem.
It's a G-E.
Turn it on.
Go ahead, Al.
Turn it on.
All right.
Turn it on.
All right.
There you go.
All right.
When I give you the signal, just go ahead and turn it on.
Okay.
All right.
Go ahead.
Turn it on.
Go.
All right.
Throw the switch.
You know, I'll tell you something.
Just come around.
Come right over.
Yes.
Since the whole thing is phony, you can just make up any three pictures.
All right.
Get ready, ladies and gentlemen.
It's late night lucky number time.
Leanne, go right ahead.
The first number is three.
The second number is seven.
The third number is two.
Once again, tonight's lucky number is seven, three, two.
Good night, everybody.
Good night, everybody.
I wish I had me some damn tablets now.
Hey, Al.
Yes.
Al, troubleshoot that.
Let me know when it's ready.
Right away.
Did you find out what the problem is?
We got it under control almost.
Al, seriously.
Get it ready.
We're going to do it again until we do it right, all right?
Okay.
All right.
Okay.
We'll do a commercial.
When we come back, Al will have all of the problems ironed out of the lucky
number,
We'll do that.
Okay.
You know, I'm a little despondent because I think it's obvious we have nothing
for the show tonight.
And I kill like eight minutes pretending I'm not feeling well, so we go out and
get a breath of fresh air, which is, you know, people are thinking, wait,
really?
Was that, that was, no, that wasn't anything, was it?
No, you're right.
It was nothing.
So first you got that.
Yeah, we got that.
That's nothing.
But I thought that for nothing, you know, that happened as well as you could
hope.
Yeah.
So now we come back up and we think, oh, we actually have something.
It's the lucky number, which in truth is nothing more than going for a breath
of fresh air.
And now, Al.
Yes.
Oh.
Al, do you have the AC figured out there?
Yeah, it's fine, Al.
We had the plug in backwards.
Uh-huh.
Al, isn't that the name of your autobiography?
The Al Marr story, I had the plug in backwards.
It's a, you know, 1995 from Random House.
All right.
Morty, should we do it again?
Okay.
Hey, guess what, Paul?
Good news.
It's time for the late, light, light.
Time for the late night lucky number.
Here we go.
Hello, I'm Leanne, the late night lucky number lady.
Yeah!
It's time for tonight's late night lucky number.
Turn on the machine!
Okay.
The first number is six.
The second number is seven.
And the third number is six.
Six, six, six.
Once again, the lucky number is six, seven, six.
Yeah, there it is!
The damn show is nearly over.
Let's bring out a guest.
Al, turn the thing off now!
All right!
You all right, Pete?
All right.
