We'll be right back.
We'll be right back.
We'll be right back.
The following very special episode of The Fugitive Guy deals with the sensitive
subject of teenage obesity.
Although we feel the topic is dealt with gently and tastefully, it may be too
intense for some little chubs.
Well, Roger, that little mime thing, that was just terrific. What was that
called?
That's called The Upcoming Summit, A Plea for Peace.
Thank you.
And what about Moominshance? There's supposed to be ten people in the troupe.
Where is everybody else?
I wasn't ready for that one. They're not here.
Yeah, but where exactly?
Okay, let's get you started with this. I've got a hat with some toilet paper on
it.
Why don't you just put it on and I'll show you how this is done.
Okay, great. But just a second, let me ask you a couple of questions about this
pantomime.
Where did you get experience doing this? Where did you learn the art?
Oh, you know, here, there, all around, really.
Well, what does that mean?
I studied with Jacques Brel.
That's a French singer.
That makes two. You're on a roll.
Okay, let's start something simple here. Let's do pulling the rope. You can do
that.
Pulling the rope, okay.
Pulling the rope, we just...
Heavy weight. Oh, it's so heavy.
What's the matter?
It's him. It's him. That noise. It's the one-legged man.
Why won't he leave me alone?
He's always following me.
I've got to get the hell out of here.
I can't stand it.
Get the hell out of my way, fatty.
Stop calling me fatty.
You're always calling me fatty.
I'm your son, damn it.
I know I have a problem, but...
Well, I've got problems, too.
I've got pressures you know nothing about.
I know I'm enormous, but I'll work it out.
We can work it out together.
There's only one way we can work it out, son,
and that is together.
Come here. Come here.
I love you, pop.
I love you, son.
Get the hell out of my way, fatty.
Oh, my leg.
Stop this boy's getting back.
No.
No.
What is that?
A black detector, standard?
No.
Oh, my face.
What the hell happened to my face?
What the?
Oh, it doesn't feel that bad.
Oh, kind of nice.
Stay tuned for late night with David Letterman as Dave laughs it up with
cigarette eater Tom Mullica.
Then tomorrow on Knight Rider, it's another one of those deadly canisters of
bacteria stories here on NBC.
We'll be right back with Jane Pauley.
Thank you very much, gentlemen.
Welcome back to the show.
Tomorrow here on this program, you'll be able to see and listen to Roseanne
Cash.
Is she singing this woman tomorrow with the boys in the band?
Yes, indeed.
Oh, keen.
We'll look forward to that.
Also, comedian Dennis Miller.
Anybody else on that card, Kevin?
That's it.
But we'll have another really, really big star for you tomorrow.
Have a star-packed show tomorrow.
My next guests have been with us many times before and always bring a spark of
class to these proceedings.
They are currently performing nightly at the Helen Hayes Theater right here in
New York City
and have a brand new book out.
It's entitled Moominchance.
Will you please welcome the imaginative pantomime of Moominchance.
Moominchance.com?

Perfect.
I enjoyed that.
Thank you.
Now, who do we talk to here?
How are we going to talk to people?
Why don't you just talk to me?
Okay.
Great.
That was great.
So, you're the spokesman.
I'm the spokesman.
I'm really the star of Moomin' Chance.
Okay.
And what is your name?
Gunther.
Okay.
Okay, Chris.
I mean, Gunther.
Well, you go ahead and introduce the rest of the troupe here.
Sure.
Why don't I?
Right behind me over here, this is Klaus.
Klaus.
Over here.
And this is Helmut.
Helmut.
Nice to see you.
And the fat one over here is Ingrid.
Okay.
Ingrid and I are dating.
All right.
Well, it's certainly nice to meet all of you.
And folks, go ahead and take the headgear off and make yourselves--
Nein, nein, nicht so schnell.
Wir haben sie nicht.
What does that mean?
What did you say to them?
I said, "Not so fast, idiots.
This is television.
You can be recognized and identified."
Uh-huh.
It's a visa thing, you understand.
A visa thing.
Sure, yeah.
Now, the piece that you did for us tonight, what was that called?
That was called "The Chernobyl Incident: When Will This Hell End?"
Uh-huh.
Thank you.
Thank you.
And what part did you play?
Well, I played the box with the toilet paper.
What are you, blind?
No.
Now, Chris, I mean, Gunther, the name Moominchance.
Moominchance. No, no, it's Moomachance. Moomachance. Moomachance. Moomachance.
Moomachance. Moomachance.
Moomachance. Moomachance. Moomachance. Moomachance. Exactly what does that mean?
It's actually an onomatopoeia. It's the sound your nose makes when you sneeze.
No, it's not. No, I'm... You're a big jerk. Oh. Oh. Hey, you might be right. It
doesn't sound like Moomachance at all.
All right. Now, Chris, where did you learn how to do this Moomachance?
Well, we've all had extensive Lecoq training, if that's what you're talking
about.
And Lecoq, what is that?
Believe me, you don't want to know.
Okay. Now, I understand you have a book out. How are the sales going?
I don't know. The sales on that one are doing okay, I guess. We have some other
ones, though, that are much better.
This one is doing very well. This is the Moomachance exercise book.
Yeah. See that right over there?
Yeah.
And then right over here, this is cooking the cookbook, Moomachance cookbook.
It's a cookbook, sure.
And then this one, we're really happy with hunting with Moomachance.
That looks like that would be fun.
It's great fun.
Out there on a boat in the open.
Sure.
Now, Chris, every time you're on the show, I know there's something eating at
you, something under your skin, something chewing at you.
What's our beef?
Yeah, that's right.
What's bugging Moomachance?
I've got a beef here. We've got a beef. It's this new Burger King commercial.
We heard this new Burger King commercial.
What is this? We're a Burger King town.
Now, what kind of selective process is going on here?
Well, yes, Mr. Mayor, we'd like to put up a Burger King in your town, but I'm
afraid you have too many pinple-faced pinhead adolescents.
Right, guys?
Yeah, okay.
Now, you're going to be at the Helen Hayes, right?
We're at the Helen Hayes right now, then we're off to Zaney's.
Off to Zaney's, yeah.
And then we'll be at Funny Bones for a while.
And then we're at Mimo's.
Mimo's. Well, that sounds like a lot of fun.
Yeah, we're in there. We're punching away.
Sure you are. And a terrific job.
Very imaginative.
Ladies and gentlemen, the talents of Moomachance.
Thank you all.
Nice to see you.
Very nice job. Thank you very much.
Helmut. Nice to see you.
In good time, I'm sure.
We'll be right back after this commercial.
Thank you, boys.
Tomorrow on this program, Don Herbert, Mr. Wizard, will be with us.
And from the Bob Newhart Show, Mary Fran will be here.
And also, film star Michael Keaton will be here.
That's tomorrow.
Later on tonight's program, we have George Miller.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's Moomachance.
Moomachance.
Oh, what a surprise.
Hi.
Moomachance, everybody.
Nice to see you.
Oh, brother.
This is, uh...
This is quite a treat.
Thank you for dropping in.
Who do I talk to here?
I never know exactly who I'm dealing with.
Well, I'm sort of the father of Moomachance.
Why don't you talk to me?
Okay, great.
Well, that's good.
Thank you very much.
This is exciting, sir.
So, uh, you, uh...
My name is Gunther.
You're Gunther.
And this is Klaus right behind me.
This is Hans over here.
And the lovely fat lady over here is my wife, Gretchen.
Hi, Gretchen.
Nice to see you.
Why, Gretchen has a really hairy back, doesn't she?
She really does, doesn't she?
That's what I love about her.
Uh, well, it's great for you kids to drop by and, uh, what, you're taking some
time off
from your Broadway play?
And, uh, what are you doing, live at five here, or what?
Actually, no.
We're taping a special edition of NFL 86.
Is that right?
Just you guys?
Well, it's us and some guy from Capizio who says he invented the mime shoe.
Hmm.
Is that like that little slipper, kind of like a jazz shoe sort of thing?
Oh, no.
It's much more like a hiking boot.
It has a steel toe.
Oh, I didn't know that.
Dave, we're really in town to publicize something we're very excited about.
NBC has given us a new series this fall.
Um, it's sort of an action detective show, uh, called Moomins Squad.
And, uh, yeah, well, there we are, right over there.
Oh, yeah, Moomins Squad.
And, uh, it was an awful lot of fun for us to put together.
Yeah, well, that's great.
And, gee, uh, it would be great if you had, uh, maybe, you know.
As a matter of fact, we brought a clip with us.
If you'd like to take a look at it, it won't take too much time.
I guess we have time for a quick clip, don't we?
Oh, great.
Okay, well, go ahead and set it up for us.
I don't know what the hell it is.
They threw it at me when we got here, so I don't know.
I'm sure it's self-explanatory.
Okay, here we go.
A clip from the up-and-coming action-adventure show, Moomins Squad.
Okay, freeze!
Let it go, mister.
No way, Moomins Squad.
Come on, I don't want to have to hurt you.
Give me the gun.
Give me the gun.
If I go, she goes.
I hate to do this.
Well, really looks good.
Very impressive.
Good luck.
Good luck to all of you folks.
And I guess you now have to run back to the theater, huh?
Actually, no.
We're shooting out to L.A.
We have to tape another one of those Battle of the Celebrity Superstars.
I hope we do a little better this time.
Last time, the kids from Fame really whipped our...
Okay, well, best of luck to everybody.
It's Moomins Chants, ladies and gentlemen.
Thanks very much.
Thank you so much for dropping by.
Moomins Chants.
Okay.
We'll be right back.
We'll be right back.
