Rich Hall is here this morning with another of his live recreations of actual
news events,
and I understand that as far as Rich is concerned, disco is dead,
and now many people are going crazy over a new kind of dance.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Rich Hall.
Thank you. Thank you.
Well, you know, disco may have a stronghold in some parts of this country,
but in Pitkinville, Montana, there's a new dance sensation,
and it won't be long before it begins to sweep the nation.
The new dance is called The Bounce,
and you don't have to be John Travolta or Gene Kelly to learn how to do it.
Maybe that's why bounce bars and bounce bands are just popping up all over this
city.
Take, for instance, this.
Ed's Bar and Grill in downtown Pitkinville.
Ed's, of course, is your basic western bar there,
a little bit of sawdust on the floor,
a beer camp, beer stools for bar stools,
and the kind of place where the locals get together
and quaff some of those king-sized beers that Ed's is famous for.
But around about 9.30 at night, well, the lights go down,
and a few couples head over to the dance pit there,
and everyone else gathers around to watch.
And it's bounce time here at Ed's.
The secret to bouncing is very simple.
All you really have to do is just kind of let the music do the dancing for you.
You bob that head a little bit, you tap the toes a little bit,
and just kind of wait for that music to course right through you.
There you go.
Then you throw yourself down on your back,
wiggle a little, squirm a little, and you're ready to bounce.
I don't know about you, but I just get dance,
just, whoa, just watching these youngsters dance,
I get kind of a dance sphere there.
And of course, a little bit later on,
after the kids are home in bed there,
it's kind of urban cowboy time here at the bar,
and one of the local cowpokes saddles up to one of those giant Pitkinville porkers,
and it's ride them cowboy time again.
Go.
Apparently this pig is in some sort of stupor here,
apparently from one of those,
one of those
giant beers kind of laid them out there.
There it is.
Bounce.
Bounce.
Well,
some sort of electronic foul up here.
Anyway,
kind of look for this to be coming to your town real soon.
This is Rich Hall.
Thank you.
Thank you, Richie.
For my money, you're every bit as good as Geraldo Rivera,
and people are always stopping me on the streets and saying,
Dave, is that show actually done live?
Well, I think we've proved it once again this morning.
Edwin Newman will be back with another NBC News update for us in a couple of
minutes.
Thank you.
