Okay, this bit of hardware behind me is what we've been referring to.
What do you actually call it, Mickey?
Well, we call it the Mechanical El Toro Gillies Bull.
Ask for it by name, as always, ladies and gentlemen.
And the gentleman on top of it is...
Gator Conley.
And what does he do for you?
Well, quite a few things.
He's also an expert rider on this particular contraption,
so I don't recommend anybody try to get on one wide open.
He's got it, I think, on seven.
Okay, how high does it go?
It goes all the way up to nine.
Now, we had one that went up to 13,
but on account of insurance regulations,
we had to come down a little bit.
We had too many people getting hurt on.
Now, whose idea was this whole thing?
Well, this thing came about from a guy out of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
And after we put it in the club, we acquired the patent right to it.
So now we manufacture them in Pasadena, Texas.
It's a frightening-looking device when you turn it on.
Has anyone ever been injured on that?
Quite a few people.
It's very easy to get hurt on it.
And these are the same things that you have in the club,
and people get loaded up and hop on the thing and...
It depends on the guy that's operating it.
If you've got a good operator, he can keep a guy from getting hurt on it.
But if you've got somebody that's a little sadistic,
I mean, they can hurt you.
Now, you would never have anybody like that in your club.
I hope not.
I would guess not.
We're going to take a look at this.
All right, now, and good luck, Gator.
Well, he knows what he's doing.
Go ahead and turn this sucker on.
We'll...
Here we go.
Oh.
Now, that's on seven.
Oh.
No, no.
Now, actually, what really gets you is the spin.
If they spin it one way or the other, and jerk it one way or the other,
it's what will really throw you off.
Because once you get the rhythm of it down, it's fairly simple to stay on it.
As we will demonstrate to Mr. David Letterman very shortly.
All right.
Go ahead and turn that off.
Okay.
All right, now, put it up to nine.
Does that hurt when you do that?
Oh, no.
I can't even walk on these things.
Now, Gator's going to turn it down, and we're going to give David a
demonstration right.
Make sure you...
This is...
All right.
Which way's down?
No, which way's down?
Cute.
The last comes fast and furious.
And we recommend that anybody that wants to try to write it, they start off
slow.
And once you get the rhythm down, then...
Can you write this thing?
I've written it on five, but I don't want to go any further than that,
because I don't want my voice to change.
I'll just hang this up here.
I want your voice to change.
How do I get on this thing?
Just over here, I guess, huh?
Just, uh...
I bet you get a lot of guys in ties writing this thing.
Whoa.
Now, Gator, would you...
Oh, thanks.
Gator will give him a demonstration on how he should ride.
You need to get up.
You want to get up there as close to the handhold as you can.
Why is that?
Well, it's going to shove you forward.
Uh-huh.
And if you're already against it, you'll just rub instead of banging.
Well, some nights, I'll take what I can get.
No, that's...
I don't...
I don't...
Get up there close to your hand.
I'm sorry I said that.
Okay.
Now, you ought to hold on with one arm.
If you hold on with two arms, it tends to make your body...
Well, I can see right away that we have trouble here.
This is...
Right hand, probably?
Right hand.
Whichever.
If you're right-handed, you hold on with your right-handed.
If you're left-handed, you hold on.
Now, what have we got this set on before we...
Nine, isn't it?
No, I'd believe it's on two.
Two.
You believe it's on two.
Well, you never can tell for sure.
Okay.
Here we go.
One arm in the air.
One arm in the air.
That's your waist flex and your elbow flex.
Watch your nose.
But we'll get it to stop eventually, won't we?
If the switch don't break, we'll have it on.
Okay.
All right.
Here we go.
Here we go.
All right.
Oh, do I feel like a jerk.
Well, so far, it's not too bad.
Whoa!
Oh!
Okay, that's...
Okay, any time now.
Oh!
Oh!
Rubbing and banging, eh?
Oh!
Yeah, yeah.
We'll get an eight-man crew in here to take me off of this thing.
We have to pause here.
Oh, darn the lock.
No more time for fun.
Thank you very much, Mickey Gilley and Gator Conley.
We'll be right back, folks.
We'll be right back, folks.
