Bob and John Stamos are REALLY This Nice to Each Other | Bob Saget

Hey, it's Bob Saget here with another new episode of Bob Saget's here for you.
And it's a special episode because my friend John Stamos, my brother,
Uncle Jesse Katsopoulos, he is going to be this episode.
We have a special setup where I was able to patch him into the board.
I am a little bored, but not now.
Not now that I'm talking to you.
I got this board at home.
I'm working from home, as we all should right now, if we can.
And if we can't, you're brave, wonderful people.
So thank you for what you're doing.
And if you're in Miami partying, stop it and go home in isolation.
So this is going to be a fun one.
This has so much stuff I want to talk to him about.
I want to talk to him about Full House and Fuller House and his family and our
past together
and things that have happened and different things he's done on Broadway and
off-Broadway
and in bedrooms and in the backyard of people's homes
and just have a really good brotherly conversation with someone that I love so
deeply.
And right now I'm going to be contacting my friend and yours, John Stamos.
And we are back.
And I am very lucky because I'm in isolation and so is my brother.
Here he is.
Johnny Stamos right here.
Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.
We're in isolation.
We're in isolation.
We are.
I'm in bubble.
And congratulations on this podcast.
I think you talking to people is my favorite thing that you do.
I mean, not celebrities, but like people calling in and what you're doing now
is great.
Yeah.
I love it.
And I like talking.
You know that.
It almost broke up.
Really?
Yeah.
It almost broke our friendship up.
Really?
When?
What time?
Which one?
There's a million of them.
And I don't, you know, I was waiting because I don't do a lot of these podcasts
because
I think as I listen to them all the time and I love them, but to do them right,
you have
to sort of open up your, you know, drop the bullshit and, you know, get into it.
Right.
And I don't like to do that too often.
And so I've been saying no to everybody because I figured at some point you
were going to jump
on the bad way.
I drew a stick in my front yard and hit six people with the podcast.
The kid across the street's got a really big one.
So I'm just doing this because he's my rival.
And I can only see him out the window.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I'm excited about it because people seem to be liking it.
And that's, that's like you.
Well, that's the quotes I'm making up that I post on the thing.
And you know, during this time, I mean, who better to get us through than Bob
Sagin?
America and the world needs you in this podcast.
So thank God.
They also need you.
I mean, you are, you are, uh, nah, the truth of it is you are beloved.
And some people look at you as just some, uh, iconically handsome guy, but I've
only felt
that way about you from the back.
I never, you know, well, from the front, I just think of you as my brother, um,
no, what
I said earlier too was I like what you're not doing right now, but I like when
you're just
Bob and you just talk because you slip into your stage guys.
I love you from the front.
No, that's not, that's not my stage guy.
That's part of what I am too.
You know that, that I'll do something serious.
Like how much shit we've both been through in our lives.
And then I'll do what my dad did, which is try to make a joke out of it just to
relieve
some of the tension.
I heard from a friend that's, go ahead.
Most of the time that works.
Sometimes it hurts.
Sometimes people don't get it.
I get it with you.
I mean, you were making jokes about, you know, my dad's funeral or something.
Well, you hosted my dad's funeral, which he would have loved.
But I didn't know I was going to host your dad's funeral.
We get to the place as a, it's a giant, beautiful Greek service and party.
And then you say, oh, by the way, you're hosting it in three hours.
And your mom gets up and gives an hour long speech and people are dancing and
going up on
breaking plates.
But that's, I think I learned it from my parents and you had, you had great
parents.
And, um, this is a really reflective time.
He's telling me, but wait, we go back a second.
Were you, were you going to say that sometimes it hurts people's feelings?
Yeah.
And I feel bad about it.
And I've been more careful because people put things out, anything you do on
social media
or people come up with lies about you.
And I see that, I'm going to call a lawyer, but you know what?
Everybody's on lockdown and this is a rough time.
And it's like, are you saying you're not a pedophile?
Cause I just want to, uh, no, I joked about it in my life, in my standup.
No, that's not why that.
Somebody screwed you up on, on Twitter.
Cause it was Corey Feldman was doing this documentary and they,
well, thanks for bringing it up because I've been trying to keep it silent, but
it's, no,
you can say anything you want.
The truth of it is some jerk, uh, made up all these names of all these people.
And I'm not going to name all the people cause they're all innocent and none of
them were
mentioned.
And it's, it's so weird.
I saw Corey, I was promoting, uh, my tour, my standup tour, which is now going
to be rescheduled
as it's being rescheduled, of course.
And, um, and I saw him and I gave him a hug cause I know him for a long time
and I didn't
know what he was out promoting and he was promoting this documentary and you
know, uh, it's like
weird that some lying asshole posted something and, uh, then he took down his
Twitter, took
his whole website, I mean, it's whatever he had.
I don't know what he had.
I think, I think last night that somebody did that with Oprah.
Did you see that?
Yeah, I did.
I did.
And then he was trending.
I was like, what the hell?
And I was, you know, some bullshit.
And you know why you're fucking nuts, man.
Well, this is what people are nuts and they, and also people are really scared
right now.
And so I guess what they do to pass the time is to still look at tabloid stuff
and to
believe liars and stuff, but this is what a brother you are.
And I want the people listening to know this, uh, that, that, you know, people,
that have the good fortune of being talented and then getting paid for it and,
and being
able to bring entertainment to people that that's just a damn gift.
Right.
So, I mean, I'm asleep.
I wasn't feeling that good.
Who knows?
I don't know if I had it or not and whatever.
I'm, I'm in the house with my wife and, and that's the true test of a
relationship.
Um, yeah, we should talk about that.
I wish the, yeah, we will.
We'll get to that.
Let's put a pin in that.
Go ahead.
So I called you in the morning.
You and Kelly, my wife were texting each other.
Like, what do we do about Bob?
What do we do?
And Bob's asleep.
My publicist, Michael doesn't want to wake me because he sees that it's slowly
going away
because the guy was a liar.
And then I'm thinking of suing him.
And then it's like, well, what am I doing?
What energy am I putting out in the world?
Let other people, yeah, just, it's enough negative.
We've got enough problems.
We've got to help each other.
We've got to help each other.
It's, it's such a strange time.
And it's, um, you know, you said earlier, you said, well, this is a good reset.
You know, I was sitting outside today with my wife and my kid, my father-in-law.
You know, I was like, yeah, this is, you know, for me and you, this is a reset.
But for a lot of people, it's, their lives are ruined.
And that's, I just, all day long, I just think about how lucky I am, how
grateful I am to
have the life I do.
But God, I feel so awful for so many people.
And I think, you know, there's going to be a lot of opportunities to help and
they're
starting to present themselves now.
And that's, that's what it's going to be for me because, you know, can you
imagine like
you're just starting to get ahead in life?
Like, you know, say you're not even living paycheck to paycheck, but you're,
you know,
you're making a little bit, but you're saving it for your kids' futures.
Like, and this comes along?
Oh, man.
You're just digging out.
You just got, I know so many people, and you do too.
And I, I know people in their twenties and thirties and they finally got that
job and then
they can't go to that job.
And then the job had to lay everybody off.
And there's been nothing like this in our lifetime, clearly.
Right.
I mean, no, no, it's, it's just like, you know, it's like the movie outbreak or
contagion
and, uh, there'll be, it'll be around for a while and hopefully they'll come up
with a
vaccine soon.
But, but you're right.
It's the empathy for all the people that are hurt.
No, I'm sorry too.
No, no, no.
We're never this nice to each other.
Yeah.
People, but, but, but, well, it, you know, we are.
And, and the other thing is so, so much.
I mean,
I love you too.
And I do, um, when you said, and now my brother, I thought, uh, John Mayer was
going
to come up because I know you, you, you kiss his ass.
Has he been on the podcast yet?
No, no.
It's you.
It's you.
Cause you're, you're, you're the, you're the first brother.
Um, can't get him on the phone.
Um, here's what I was going to say.
I was going to say that, uh, did you, I mean, here's what, another thing I'm
feeling.
It's like, I, I didn't think we were this vulnerable.
I didn't think that, you know, something could, could, uh, could come in and,
and cripple
the whole world like this.
Right.
But I guess, I guess this, we are, you know, it's a wake up call, I guess.
I don't, I mean, I don't know what we could have done to us, but.
Well, I think, and this is going to be a, a humor attempt, but it's not, but,
but Howie
Mandel was a prophet now.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
All those guys.
Stern's like that.
I mean, these guys don't touch me.
I just saw Stern and it's like social distance is his way of living.
And, and I feel that way too.
I am really happy to have someone, and this is being fortunate and spoiled and
being a
bitch, but have something delivered and say, just leave it inside the gate
there.
Oh, man.
Because, and then you have to, uh, go ahead.
I'm sorry.
We, we, we, we got to get better chemistry.
You and I thought we, um, I, I was texting, I was checking up on Lori the other
day and,
and she said she was doing well.
And she said that, uh, she's been self-quarantined for the last year.
So she's the head of the game too.
So, but thank God we have wives and kids and stuff that I, you know, I feel for
people
that, you know, are alone that breaks my heart too, but.
Well, you know, you know, I've got daughters that are, um, there are.
Jingle, jingle, jingle.
I've got daughters that, why do you have to make a joke out of everything, John?
See?
I've got daughters.
I learned so much.
I learned so much about comedy from you.
I always wanted to be known as, I would rather someone say that I was funny
than I was good
looking or something.
And, um, they don't, but no, but I learned, I learned people, I learned so much
about comedy
from you and Dave, and I, I'm so appreciative to it.
And when we were doing the first full house, uh, you know, I know you guys, I
was fascinated
with you guys.
I was fascinated with comedy, uh, standup comedy, and I can't do it, but I love
the study of it.
And you brought me around great people like, you know, Shanling and, uh, who
else do we
were hanging out with comics all the time, you know?
Yeah.
And I love that.
I loved meeting all those people.
And, you know, literally, literally everybody pretty much.
Uh, and, and then you brought Don Rickles into my life and then I had directed
him in
dirty work, but you were the person that helped me.
I don't know.
It just melded.
It just clicked.
And, uh, it was a love fest.
We were like two sons for him, uh, that Don thing was really interesting, wasn't
it?
I mean, uh, I became friends with him first, you know, I mean, you met him, but,
but we
were sitting at a Greek restaurant and we, he was bored with the people he was
with.
And I was, you know, people I didn't want to be with, and we ended
