Bob Helps a Psych Student & Discusses if Technology is Helping or Hurting Us | Bob Saget

Hello my friends. It is me. It is Bob. It is me. It is Bob. I am a Greek god.
Oh my god. Why would
people say things like that in third person? It is I, Zeus. There are other
people that do that
in contemporary times and it's just odd. But anyway this is Bob Saget's here
for you and
more than ever I feel like I want to, I don't know, just be your pal and just
try to help you
through whatever or just entertain you or just talk to you. And I am wearing
pants. They're sweat
pants but I am wearing them. I'm topless. No, I'm not Bert Kreischer. I am
fully clothed. Actually
the thing I'm wearing, the jacket kind of thing has a Danny Tanner. In fact, it's
the Fuller
Rap Show gift. So it's the cancelation present that I'm wearing for my upper
body for good karma.
And those episodes are going to be on any minute or any month on Netflix. Those
last nine episodes where
you can all cry together for people that like that Fuller house. That I play
Danny Tanner, who I've
become, who we've all become. I did one tweet and it went, I don't know, you
can't say it went viral.
It just doesn't work. Yeah, it went to, I don't know what it did. It trended.
That sounds gross. I trended. Really? That's nice. I skidded because my
underwear is dark. When you
wear black underwear, I just burped internally from coffee. I'm sorry. That's
how real this is. I will
not expel any gas. It'll just be an occasional hiccup or burp. And I don't go
back to fix it
because what the hell? I mean, Howard Stern, who kind of was the best, is the
best at this kind of
talking to people medium, although that's highly, you know, people can debate
that because there's so
many good people that do podcasts that are amazing and you know who they are.
And he'd burp out loud
and just what the hell. Um, I think he farted. I'm not sure, but I think he's
always been so thin that
he never really, um, had a lot of gas. That's my guess. Um, I channel it into
my stomach to the point
where I just had a sturgeon on a bagel, which gives you an idea of, uh, the
kind of food that I rarely eat,
but we had it yesterday. Uh, my wife and I, and we share food because you know,
we're on rations. Um,
whatever age you are, I just want to say that this is for everybody. Um, I'm
trying not to curse. I'm
not trying. It's just when you talk to people, cause I'm going to take some
calls today and make
some calls. What happened is there's a phone number, which is listed at the top
of this thing. It tells
you what number to call and leave a message or a question. And I'm going to
call you and, um, just
have a convo with you and see what's going on and see how you're feeling and,
and all that stuff.
And the other thing you got to do that I, I must tell you is that you need to,
uh,
go into the column thing of this thing. Uh, see, I'm very tech oriented. I don't
even know what the
menu looks like. Uh, it's not even a menu. I know what a menu looks like. Cause
I've been ordering in
quite a bit, but you gotta then vaccinate all the packages and fumigate them
and hazmat them. Um,
I'm calling Tom. He is in, uh, the beautiful Philadelphia area. I think the
party you are
trying to reach does not accept calls from numbers with caller ID blocked. Oh,
that's too bad. I'm
not unblocking my number. I wish I could, but I can't, I'm, I'm really sorry,
Tom. I just can't, uh,
have you calling me all the time. Uh, cause I got kids. I got a wife. Well, my
wife don't call me.
She's in the house. So we just text, but, um, you know, that's the whole thing.
That's this new
feature, which you hit pound and then they would see your number, which is good.
And I trust Tom,
but not enough. This is going to be Doug. I hope he doesn't have the same
feature. I'm going to have
to start on blocking, which is really scary. This is Doug. This would be Doug.
This will be Doug.
Doug is in an area code. I do not know. Oh, Doug hung up because I'm a block
number.
Maybe I got on block. What? And then I got to block everybody. Uh, I'll try him
again. This Doug,
I don't give up. I just don't. Um, this will be Doug. He's probably going to go.
Who is it?
I'm that annoying friend that calls like five times. He thinks I'm a, one of
those, you know,
political calls or something or some, I don't know, some service that mops your
house.
Uh, Doug's not picking up. Hey, Doug, Bob Saget here. How are you, sir?
Great. How you doing? Thanks for calling. Oh, thank you. I thought you were
concerned
because I was a block number. Was that accurate? No, not at all. I think I was
in my basement working
and, uh, it dropped. Wow. You're working. What are you working on? What are you
doing, sir?
I'm a science teacher at the nearby high school. Uh, you're a hero is what you
are now.
It's all right. Well, you're not doing it right now, right? Or are you doing it,
uh, over internet?
Uh, I'm doing it over internet, you know, putting on videos and doing some
myself. I kind of did a
little lab. And you, and you put it out to all the students and they've been
responding positively.
Yeah. Yeah. We got the data in class and, uh, they kind of worked through the
calculations on their own.
They submitted through the Google classroom. It's pretty cool.
You're not just dropping, uh, what are they? Mentos and in bottles, uh, where
they foam over?
What is that? How, how sometimes that's the fun thing about, uh, chemistry, you
know,
all the demos in class. Cause even if you're bored doing, uh, calculations, you
can, uh, go ahead and
blow something up. So usually can keep the kids involved. Pretty cool.
If you blow stuff up, kids are happy. Um, yeah. What, where, what city are you
in? If I could ask.
I would say, uh, St. Louis, I'm supposed to go there. Um, uh, uh, canceled, uh,
the tour and
postponed it. So I'll be coming in by the end of the year. What's the deal now
you're working from
home. Are you staying safe? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We moved into a new house and, uh,
you know, just
catching up on some stuff. I'm working a little bit. My wife's a financial
planner. She's working from
home. That's going great. Um, it's kind of nice cause we moved into a new house
and we're getting
settled in and our kids are at the perfect, uh, age for this. Cause they're
like one and a half
and two and a half. You don't really know what's going on, but they like to
have parents at home.
Right. Just a cool age. Yeah. And are they, uh, the only thing is kids. Well,
St. Louis,
how bad is, is the pandemic there right now? It's, it's not as bad as a lot of
places in the
area. Obviously I think, uh, you know, New York with international airports and
public travel,
travel in the population density, it's really hitting them. But, uh, for us,
you know, for
once it's good that we didn't have a really big, um, um, public transit. And,
uh, so we're doing
all right. Missouri, you know, kind of on the low end, kind of in the middle of
the pack in terms of
the state. So it's not a hot spot, but everybody's taking the talk. Well, yeah,
they should. And I
hope it stays that way. Cause we don't know what every day brings. It's, uh,
exponential,
but I'm really glad your kids are in the, at the age where they don't even know
what a snow day is
to appreciate. So that's really, that's cool. And it's nice. Uh, there is, I
guess the positive for
me is that you do have time with your family. If you like your family, uh, it's,
it's a really good
time for people to be together and you don't get, I mean, this doesn't happen
to financially,
it's terrible. Um, and I'm, I'm sure that you guys are not getting paid during
this time, correct?
Uh, no, my wife is still working at home and luckily they haven't completely
canceled school for myself.
So we're still getting paid during this time. So we've got it easy.
Oh, you do. You, that's wonderful. That's wonderful. We're really lucky.
Well, I'm happy to hear that. And I hope it stays that way. And, uh, and I, you
sound like a really
nice guy, honestly. And teachers are, I think they're the most blessed people.
Two of my sisters were
teachers and you know, one of them, people still tell me today, um, that she
was the best teacher
of her whole life. And, uh, you know, and if you can teach chemistry, I mean, I
couldn't figure it
out. All I know is iron is F E and, uh, I don't know much of potassium. I would
remember it by going
K, you know, that's about it. That's all I got. Uh, English, English and, and,
um, kind of an honors
English. So she got the people that really liked books and really liked not the,
not all nerds,
but as people would, uh, unfortunately say, but people that appreciated
intelligent writing and,
um, and great stories and stuff. So, uh, she was really, really special. Yeah.
Yeah. So you had a
question for me or someone you wanted to discuss? I did. I, uh, I know you kind
of alluded to it on
other, uh, a big fan of dirty work, uh, saw it in the theater, uh, you know,
opening weekend. I love
that movie, but I know you've kind of alluded to, uh, that there's a lot more
kind of left behind
because you had an R-rated set. Yeah. Uh, could you kind of let me, let us know
what your favorite
part of the R-rated version was? That's, uh, that's fun because, uh, Norm and I
have been talking a lot, and I'm also
alluding to us possibly doing something, uh, with that, uh, with, with the
movie. So, uh, not the
original, but, uh, something different, but I, I'm not allowed to talk about it
because we're in the
process of just, uh, development and all that stuff. But if it happens, it will
be one of the craziest
things because Norm Macdonald's one of the funniest people alive. So, um, there
was a couple of things.
There was, it was an R-rated cut and it was released in 1998 and I directed it.
It's been a year
and Norm and, uh, Fred Wolf and Frank Sebastiano wrote the original script and
MGM
made it and Bob Simons produced it. So we had a cut that was, that was R-rated
and I really wanted it
to stay R-rated and they said, I'm sorry, we have to make a PG-13. So that was
the first thing that made
me go, Oh God, we have a problem. Cause they said, they said R-rated comedies
didn't work, but, uh,
something about Mary came out like six months after us. And it was like the
biggest thing ever. And that's
kind of when R-rated comedies started really going to the forefront. There hadn't
been a ton of them
at that time. And now you almost expect it, you know, anything from Seth Rogen
or, or Will Farrell was,
well, Will, Will goes back and forth between a PG-13 and an R-rated thing, but,
um, the really funny
people are, it's often an R-rated comedy, hangover, yada, yada, but, um, and yada,
yada, one of my
favorite films. I hope they make a sequel, but, um, the, one of the things that
we loved, there were
these frat guys, uh, for people that haven't seen Dirty Work. It's from 1998.
You can watch it. It's
available anywhere. Um, just anywhere you can find it in the street. Um, just
don't touch it because,
you know, you don't know who's gone near it, but, um, it's a rough time. But,
um, what happened was
there, these frat guys that were real jerks. Um, and then Norm Macdonald and
Artie Lang got back at
them by dressing up as cops. And then they called real cops. And then the cops
ended up, uh, I'm not
going to spoiler alert it, but they beat the crap out of the guys. Oh, damn. I
spoiler alert it.
So these frat guys, what they did, um, was not, uh, they were incredibly
horrible to, uh, Norm, uh,
Norm Macdonald and Artie Lang. Mitch and Sam were the characters' names. So
what they did to get back
at them, because they were in the revenge business, that's the, that's the
premise of the movie,
to get a heart for their father played by the great late Jack Warden, amazing
actor. Yeah. And they
needed 50 grand for the heart and Chris Farley was in it and played Jimmy no
nose, whose nose had been
bitten off by a Saigon whore. Hey people, I'm just relaying with the script
that's in the script and
Chevy Chase was in it and, uh, Adam Sandler and a bunch of cam
