Bob Discusses How Comedy - Even Through Podcasts Unites Us | Bob Saget

hi everyone it's your friend bob i say your friend because if i met you i'd
treat you the way my dad
treated people i was just i don't know i'm just some people are like that where
i'll go up to
somebody and they'll go hi i'm jimmy and i'm i i like your work or i don't know
who you are i read
books or whatever and they go hi i'm bob and then some people go i know so why
are you introducing
yourself but uh for the most part i don't think um you know it depends on where
you've seen me in your
life but fame is uh pretty much a bunch of what's nice about it is if you have
fans and you make
people happy and that's what i'm trying to do here with this thing that uh
named bob saget's here for
you and it was named before anything before not before anything but uh before
the pandemic before
coronavirus was more than just uh what we thought was a thought and i just
wanted to make people feel
better because i've been doing stand-up i was prepared to go on the road and do
the podcast throughout
and little did i know two days after i recorded two in studio which you can see
on the uh youtube page
which is youtube uh dot com slash bob saget uh all these newfangled things that
are 20 years old
anyway um it's interesting that i'm doing this because i love it um i have i
just want to reach out to
people and even i had a guy come over um just to literally coat some tiling but
i'm not gonna have
his guys come into the house until we're closer to a vaccine but i i needed to
have it done because i
had plumbing work hey am i keeping you up and um i'm about to call people by
the way but it was interesting
he talked to me for like half an hour and normally i'd be so busy i wouldn't be
able to talk to anybody
and or someone you know my wife would talk to somebody and and i talked for a
half hour and i
enjoyed it right so this is about wanting to talk to people and see how they're
doing and feel how
they're feeling um without touching them because you can't do that anymore you
can't just walk up to
strangers and touch them where back in the day it was just absolutely
acceptable that's called sarcasm
and but if you read it i'm already in trouble so i don't want to get in trouble
anymore it's all
it's in all my specials anything you want to just hold against me um please don't
hold anything
against me i'm a married man there it is that dad joke combo groucho wannabe
kind of thing
hello hi is this erin yes it is bob saget how are you good how are you i'm
really good it says
erin and jason called me so you guys uh are together in some kind of quarantine
situation
well he got laid off i'm working from home yeah and we're pretty much just uh
hanging out with our
rabbits with your rabbit making yeah we have house rabbits oh that's fantastic
you have just one or do
you have more we have two um i thought i heard i thought i heard the plural
there so now jason is
there with you he's near you yeah he's right here and maker and so now at this
moment is his uh ego
deflated is it a misogynistic type of thing or is jason just totally cool and
dealing with what we're all
dealing with which is um there's just you know some people aren't able to work
but you're able to work
does that is his ego okay well like he's he's like the easiest going person i've
ever met so but he
definitely you know it kind of sucks but right now he's we're actually doing
social media like we have a
an agency for our rabbits they pay us to do videos so both your both your
rabbits have a whole uh do
they have their own handles are they out there can i find them yes yes they are
on tiktok and instagram
um but yeah we do and what's their name how can i find them what would they be
at
all right it'll be at bob so b-e-b-o-p dot n dot rock steady wow i'm glad this
is a podcast so you can
scrub back and forth to get all that that's uh i'm gonna i'll i'm i'm open to
following them and and
when you see a movie like like fatal attraction that's that's upsetting because
you got rabbits right
yeah yeah so what uh what city are you in aaron we're in columbus ohio oh i
love it there i had
i've had some wonderful time there i was supposed to go back for stand-up
probably right around now
or into the fall i can't remember but i will be on tour again next year but uh
this one's not able
to happen just because uh we can't yeah does does uh does he wanna does jason
wanna hop on the phone
for a second and then i'll go back to you just uh just so i get his viewpoint
okay cool i'll uh let me
just grab him real quick yeah he's right here sorry about it jason how you
hanging in there yeah no
complaint so what's what's what's what's your deal jason what job were you at
that is no longer at the
moment yeah uh well i was doing some uh voice acting no i'm just kidding no
that's that's what
that's what people say i should uh go into but um no uh were you were you a
hand model
no but uh yeah i was just doing uh some office work and then um some odds and
ends and uh kind of
kind of figuring things out right now so um not like a pandemic really kind of
uh
you know uh destroy the career or anything like that so um yeah you know
sometimes just uh we get
thrown at you so you just gotta roll with it yeah and you'll find you'll find
out probably even more
during this time is hibernation weird forced upon us time you'll kind of go you
know what i'm gonna do
this when i come back and then it's i'd like i'm trying to look for the
positive i'm trying so hard
right yeah yeah well that's the thing in terms of like you know plans that didn't
go as uh you know
i heard an expression recently said uh if you want to hear god laugh tell them
your plans so right
i've never heard god laugh i i guess lightning is anger um oh yeah and and rain
rain is sadness tears
oh okay okay yeah earthquakes a fart yeah yeah a volcano is diarrhea um
so so do you guys uh have a question for me or someone you wanted to know or
something you wanted
to talk about specifically oh man so many questions but only time for the life
no how are you how how how's the podcast life then i feel like everyone's doing
podcasts now and
i mean we do short form videos that it's you know for tick tock and stuff and
we do live streams which
right boring because the rabbit is boring but like you know everyone's doing
podcasts but i haven't
really got into all that much so yeah it's a whole other thing what's happened
is we've kind of gone
back to what are the roots of entertainment and it all began with radio you
know and then there was no tv
and then tv we're watching a lot of it unless it's produced now they're
starting to produce shows like
america's got talent uh with my friend howie but that's no audience and
everybody's tested
and you know it's a very uh organic thing i started doing this podcast people
think well
you named it you know bob sagatier for you so it would be uh because of
quarantine but i started this
because i didn't like what i was feeling when i was touring for three years how
the country changed uh
for the worse as far as how people got along in a theater my human experience
was that people were
really angry um and so i i just wanted to make them laugh that's all i want to
do and reach out to
them so i started this podcast because i had a bunch of offers to do one and i
didn't think i'd do one but
it just felt like no i have to do one and then i did them in the studio and
then two days later they
said oh there's a quarantine i ended up taking the the recording board home
they brought it to me
i didn't take it home they brought it to me i can't lie and then and then i had
to cancel my tour
starting in i canceled on canada the day before i was supposed to go there and
then they were mad at
me but then the next day they closed canada so everything was fine not because
it's not fine um
but um that's how this started so i love it because i've always been a broadcaster
of sorts it's kind of
how i before full house i was on a cbs morning uh news show uh for about five
months but they fired me
because you know they said i was too hot for morning tv so i love them i love
doing this i love talking to
you guys you know it's it's it's lonely here in the bunker
yeah our place is pretty much you know well and the thing is like you said you're
looking for someone
nice to talk to you like i always say jason is the nicest guy on earth like no
no no he says he's not
but you know i've met him at a hard time in my life and he just he's really
hard to rattle and he's
always very like worried about everybody else and always has like some like
cliche happy pep talk not
cliche it's not cheesy but jason he's got a nice voice he's got a very soothing
voice he should have a
podcast you guys should have your body that's why like we're doing like this
live streaming to provide
like this new app or whatever and um you know i i mean we like making fun of
videos but when they
were like to do live stream i'm like well i don't want to talk about my rabbit
for hours on end i don't
think anyone would listen but so then of course jason i just had him do it he
said so now he just puts rabbits
and talks and i like i like the sound of his voice he always says something
nice to say he's very
informed about rabbit um so it would be specifically i mean uh macaulay colkin
has a podcast called the
bunny ears uh podcast yeah i've heard about that and i've been on it and you he
wears bunny ears um and
he's he's one of the sweetest people on incredibly smart guy too um so yeah if
you want to do it do
whatever the hell you want i mean we're all there's a coronavirus do whatever
the hell you want just uh
just stay safe and um and we're all going to get through this there's there is
no doubt we will get
through this but that's the hardest thing is to know that because yeah and that's
all like i like to
post my bunny videos and stuff because like they're really goofy and silly you
know i work with kids
with central needs and they're therapy rabbits so they're trained for that and
they're trying to be around
kids so what i've been doing is just doing more videos and silly videos that
kids like to see and
for a while i was having my friends their kids were video calling and reading
books for the rabbits
while they're homeschooled well that's amazing how do you how do you do it do
you wear a mask go
over there they're wearing a mask and you give them a bunny to hold oh no when
well rabbits well
i have a couple of clients that i see that it's you know one-on-one but when it's
as far as like the
when it was normal they i bring the rabbits with me to kids houses and we work
on like reading body
language and non-verbal skills and impulse control and it's really funny
because they people do anything
just to be around the rabbit so they'll you know do whatever i ask them that's
that's really beautiful
that you're doing that and and with people affected by mental health it is
mental health issues it is
really i mean we're all affected by it but uh yeah but it's really true when
holding a an animal that
does you know any good animal well yeah it's not just for the kids too i mean
they've got me through
some you know tough times just coming home and staring at them and just
chilling out because they're
they're unique creatures they don't want to be handled they're not like testing
dogs they're really
judgmental and they destroy everything so they're kind of like politicians
right yeah in fact no in
in 2016 we went as and i'll have to show you a picture of bebop was celery clinton
and rock study
with donald trump and we have like little like a little parade float we'd wagon
it said make america
cute again and i'm with hair and jason and i were secret service so thank you
you know yeah and this is
this is so so you've been like this way before quarantine it didn't take
quarantine to put you
over the edge in the rabbit world we get extra time with them now but yeah i
know we we were joking
about starting the bun lobby and going to bc and advocating for a bunch yeah it'
