Bob Encourages Fans That It’s Never Too Late to Go After Your Dreams | Bob Saget

Hey, everybody. So this is Bob Sagitts here for you, meaning I'm here to talk
to people
and whatever you want to talk about. So this is one of those days where you
call that phone
number that's listed up there. And I go and announce on Instagram stories or on
Twitter
that I'll be calling you guys in two days or tomorrow or today. And you leave
messages
that that number and then I call you back, which is what I'm going to be doing
today
with people that I feel like talking to because you know what? We need to be
here for each other.
I'm in a very empathetic mood because it's been so deficient. And I know some
people are like,
well, I don't need to hear anybody else's point of view. But if people are
hurting
and people are angry, it's hard to deal with anger because a lot of times our
response to anger is
anger. And, uh, and that doesn't really help. So it's very hard to rise above
it. But I think we
have to as a culture and as people and, uh, and be strong and all that crap
that you hear about that
is true. So a lot of people are cynical about all of it, but I believe we have
to care about one
another. Come on people now, smile on your brother. Everybody get together, got
to love one another
right now. And then they had an orgy, but that was when that song was popular.
They did not have an
orgy by the way. I've never been to an orgy. If you have, please call me and
tell me about it.
Well, don't, but please. Uh, and so what you want to do is subscribe and rate
and review this podcast
or follow it. If that's where you're doing it, wherever you get them. Uh, I
know where you get
them at the dentist's office or at a clinic. Don't go to a free clinic. I mean,
it's good to go to it,
but, uh, if you need something, but if it's free, I don't know. What do you get
at a free clinic?
Hey, we can give you herpes for nothing. You know, I don't think they give you
diseases though.
Right. I'm not too acquainted with how the medical field works.
Uh, I'm going to make some calls. I'm going to call people and see how they're
doing.
And, uh, so with no further or due, I'm going to call somebody named Sadie. Uh,
let's see what's
up with Sadie. I love when people call me. It's like, uh, you know, they, I
guess my soothing voice
or the fact that they know me from somewhere that they saw me.
Hello?
Sadie, Bob Saget here. How are you?
Who?
Bob Saget. You left me a message on my...
No, I'm just kidding. I know.
Oh, I like that. I'm joking.
Oh, you're hilarious. I had no idea. You had me going. You pranked me. I can't
believe it.
You did?
Yes.
I can't believe. I feel like I'm on Jackass right now. I'm on Crank Yankers.
Thank you.
Oh, Crank Yankers.
Yeah, that's still on. They're still making it. It's great people.
Yeah.
Are they really?
Yeah. Are there people around you? Are you, are you quarantining with people?
And what city
are you in?
So I actually, I live in North Carolina. I moved here from Washington state
seven years ago,
nine years ago.
Right.
And before that, I was born. I do have to mention, I was born in Philadelphia.
There we go. That's where I was born.
My mom went to Temple. Yeah. So that's where I went to Temple. Do I know your
mom? You sound
too young. She's probably too young.
You're not my daughter.
I'm not sure if I even know my mom.
Oh, there you go. Are you, have you talked to your mom?
Yeah. So, um, I, yeah, I actually talked to her yesterday. Um,
Does she, where does she live?
Recently, Washington state. My family lives in Washington state.
And so you moved to North Carolina for what reason?
Um, love, of course.
That's awesome. Um.
So you just love North Carolina?
No, my, my husband, my husband's in the military. And at the time we had, um,
just gotten done
doing two years of long distance. And, um, I decided to move down to North
Carolina that,
um, so he, he's down here and lives in, or excuse me, um, is in the military.
And I am
the poster child army wife. And where is he right now? You're not together
right now, right? He's
stationed. He's home. He's actually home right now. That's awesome. So when he's
home, does he
get like a lot of army figures and play with them like in the living room? Um,
I actually had to put
a stop to that because it was, it looked like a toy story, right? It was too,
getting too weird.
Yeah. Yeah. Um, is he doing okay? Cause first thing, tell him, thank you for
his service. When
you talk to him, tell him Bob, uh, really means it. So I, I absolutely will. He's,
um,
um, what is it? Yeah. He's doing great. We've done 10 deployments together. He's
been overseas
quite a bit. Um, I want to say, so are you also in the service?
No, I'm not. Oh, but you said together. So I thought maybe you were deployed
also. So
that'd be cool. I mean, since him and I have been together, sometimes I do fly
over there
just to check on him, you know, just to make sure he's not up to anything.
So it's not to make sure of his safety is to make sure he's not up to debauchery.
Yeah. Not messing around. I don't know. But yeah, he, since we've been together,
we've done quite a bit
of, um, we've done a lot of deployments, um, or trips overseas. Um, and it's
really, I don't know if
it's funny. I have to laugh about it. This is the most he's been home and we're
now in quarantine
together. So you would say, would you say that quarantine, and I've heard this
from some people
has actually, you've benefited from it because you've gotten to spend some,
even though we all
go a little crazy, you've been able to be together more than you would have
been.
I'll be honest and not to, I'm not a selfish person. Um, but this time for me
as an individual
has been, um, and it's going to sound terrible. It's going to sound crazy.
Well, that's me. So I'm the guy to tell that to.
Okay. Um, perfect. Um, it's gotten me, it's changed me. It's, I've been
thriving in a way.
I have, it's made me realize all of the things that I would like to be doing.
And, um, it's
made me appreciate, um, what I have and time and family a lot more.
Yeah. Um, yeah, that is being, uh, yeah, not to interrupt, but sorry.
No, I interrupted. I interrupted. You were talking. I, I, I just got excited
because I, I'm of like mind.
Yeah. Yeah. It's, um, I have had anxiety and depression, my, my entire, my
entire life.
I understand that.
And, and this, so I've learned tools to help, help with that. And now I think
everybody is going through
the exact same thing. And so, um, it's really helped my, it sounds so bizarre.
It doesn't make
sense, but my depression anxiety has actually gotten worse because it's almost,
or excuse me,
better because it's gotten better than lit. Yeah.
It's a, it's a forced calm. It's a forced reboot. It's a forced reset that we
would not ever do in
our lives. And here we are, except for the people that are in a Petri dish pool,
drinking and screaming
and spitting into each other's mouths. Cause they don't understand that it is
scientifically a real
disease that yes, 2% people could die from it, but, uh, they think that's not,
that doesn't matter,
which is insane. But that aside, um, the fact that you're able to appreciate
this time,
that is huge. That's a huge realization and self-awareness. So I think that it's
beautiful,
actually. Well, I'll be honest and positive. There are, there's such a thing
where someone
is so positive, you know, the people that are so positive, happy all the time.
And you just,
you just want to punch them in the face. Well, you don't have to cause they're
not,
they're not that happy. They, they are. Well, some of them I respect so much
because they're trying
to be positive. So they're working at it. So there's a lot of effort that goes
into that
because truthfully it's easier to be depressed in my experience than it is
because you go down the
rabbit hole and you're just gone. And I, I was depressed my whole twenties. I
mean,
I should have been on meds, but I wasn't. And then, um, now I kind of wake up
even if I haven't slept
enough, like I didn't last night, I try to wake up positive in the morning and
think of something
good. Like I love my wife. Uh, or if, you know, we had an argument that we
resolve it as quickly as
possible. Cause when you're cooped up with somebody, she's out of town right
now. Cause I, I, I'm enough
to take, you know, and so she's with her family, which is good, but, um, good
for her. Yeah. I mean,
it, it, you'll appreciate this time forever cause it doesn't happen because it's
every
hundred years. Pandemics are every hundred years, unless something crazy
happens. And you know,
I'm not going to get all paranoid and say, you know, things like another
country could turn off our
satellites. So we don't have, you know, the web, we can't go online. It's crazy
about,
it's crazy what you put your energy into. Um, cause I know if I start thinking
about
that exact same thing, like, Oh my gosh, what if this happens? And in worrying,
I feel terrible.
It worries, worry is a waste of time. And then, and it does, it is a perfect
storm. Everything
seems to be happening at the same time. Everything upsetting, everything where
the world is at each
other and the U S is having so many issues. And, uh, they're, they're from, you
know, social,
racial, political, religious. Um, I don't know, I don't know why religion has
to enter politics.
You know, the two things on a date, you don't talk about as religion and
politics. And that's
all we talk about. And it's not healthy. Um, but we have, we have to talk about
it so that we can
resolve it, but try to be positive, but not like you're saying like the fake
positive. It's like,
it's all going to be fine. My mother was like that. You're like, you'll see,
everything's going to be
great. Right. And I'm like, uh, Oh, okay. Um, then why am I so scared? And why,
when are the locusts
coming mom? You know, cause everything else. But that's where I think comedy
comes in. I think,
so that's been one of my, just to make things easier. I've been learned to make
jokes and make fun
of it and look smart and it's crazy. I know people I've heard how hard it is to
think about things
that are funny, to write comedy, to, um, be creative, but laughter, how it, it
originates from,
it's a response from, uh, it's a response to fear or a warning.
It definitely, it can't, it can diffuse fear when, when in the right hands, it
can,
it is a response. And I'll say the most dark comedy. I did stand up for the
first time, uh,
last night since March. And I did it in front of 20 people all wearing masks
and I could hear the
laughs and I loved it. And I said things I shouldn't have said. I mean, you
know, you don't make COVID
jokes, but you do if it's to diffuse it because that's the pain, the pain is
the COVID. And if
you're making a joke about it, you know, that's, that's part of, that's how I
deal with pain. That's
why I always made, I lost so many people in my life that died. Uh, I didn't
lose them. They died.
Losing is different. That's where you actually should keep tabs on people. But,
but when people pass on,
if I make a gallows joke, some people do not laugh at death humor because it's,
it comes purely from
pain, like you're saying. So I'm doing my part in trying to, as you're trying
to add light through
humor is what you do, right? Um, yeah. So, and that's, um, I have been usually
for the most part,
a lot of my life has been very unsure about what I want to do. And I haven't
had a lot of confidence
in things, but I have always maybe thought a little bit differently about
things. And I feel like that
is my superpower, what I've been through, because I know that I shouldn't
really have the life that I
have right now. I have been, I not knowing where I was going to sleep or hungry
and just, you know,
everyone has their stories. But, um, so you're saying you're, you're, it's a
miracle that you're
where you're at right now with a man that you love.
Well, so where my, I had never really picked anything. Like I've never pursued
anything,
any real career. I've done a t
