Hey, and welcome to the 101st, 101 Dalmatians of podcast episodes.
And I am really happy that my guest is who it is today.
She has been a friend of mine since she's nine or 10 years old.
My facts are never right.
I'm always off a year or two.
It's Andrea Barber who played Kimmy Gibbler on Full House and Fuller House.
So there you go.
And she's on a show right now that she's shooting that's going to be coming out
in September on Nickelodeon.
And it's called That Girl, Lele.
So you're going to want to see that.
She's a principal.
She's like a grown-up Kimmy Gibbler principal.
And she also wrote a book called Full Circle from Hollywood to Real Life and
Back Again.
And that's her, the very sweet and amazing Andrea Barber.
People want to know her age.
She doesn't care if I tell you.
She's 34, and she still seems like that kid that I knew.
And I don't know.
We've always been friends.
We've always seen each other 20 years between Full and Fuller House and always
loved her and always will.
She's just a genuine person.
And it's funny that she has the name Hollywood on the front page of her book
from a couple years ago.
It's a really good read, by the way.
It's very honest.
You know what to do with this show.
That doesn't sound nice.
Yeah, you know what you can do with this show.

101 episodes and 2,000 more to go.
No pressure.
Here we go.
Here comes my friend for so many years, and you'll know why after you see how
wonderful
and charming and lovely she is, Andrea Barber.
Andrea, hi.
Hi, Bob.
How are you?
I'm good.
I'm good.
I've been traveling.
I'm doing stand-up again everywhere.
Oh, good.
I hope you come to my hometown.
Don't say it on the air here.
I won't, but I will be there.
And I won't make you curse at me in the audience like you always do as we set
up.
Oh, right, right.
Well, and then one time I missed my cue.
I was in the bathroom, and you called me out, and I didn't hear you, because I
was in,
it was my Christine Lottie moment, or whatever her name is.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was a crazy moment.
It was, you know, what's interesting is people, all the stand-up that I did,
and you guys, in 2007, you guys were younger.
How old were you in 2007?
That's when I did that special, That Ain't Right.
Oh, well, how old was I?
30.
I was 30.
And that's when you would come to my show, and that's when I would say, like,
weird stuff,
and you would be like, you just knew it was me.
Right.
It's no big deal.
No.
But fans will come up to me, and they'll be like, have you heard Bob's stand-up
where
he talks about you?
And I'm like, yeah, duh.
Like, it's no big deal for me.
I grew up with him.
I understand his humor.
Everyone else is horrified.
But I'm just like, eh, no big deal.
It's just a Tuesday.
Well, we've been friends the whole time.
I mean, and I was so glad that Fuller happened.
I mean, then I got to even know you more, really.
Yeah, as an adult, that was so special.
It was so special to get to do it again.
And you were always just such a great leader and a great ambassador for the
show.
And it was just so beautiful getting to do that again.
And we had better perspective as adults.
And so much rich appreciation for getting to do it all over again.
It was so special.
I miss it.
I miss it a lot.
Yeah.
I wish it could have gone longer because it deserved to because you and Candace
and Jody
really are the reasons that that thing succeeded.
I mean, it was six years.
Some people say it's five years because they split one of the seasons.
Oh, right.
Right.
It felt like it felt like six because it did.
Yeah.
We had a few seasons with 18 episodes.
And then, yeah, they kept splitting the I think they did that.
So they didn't have to pay us more.
They're like, oh, we'll just split this season in half instead of bringing you
on.
That's smarter than renegotiating.
There's no renegotiating when that happens.
I had dinner with Candace the other night when I was when you texted me.
That's really weird that I texted you right when you were with her.
We have a we had like a second family connection.
We just do.
We really do.
We really do.
And it was funny.
Maybe we were even talking about you.
I don't remember.
Oh, I hope so.
I hope we were talking.
What were we saying?
We had like a three hour dinner.
It was so great because I haven't seen her in forever.
And we had the time.
And so we went out for a three hour dinner.
And then you texted and I was like, oh, I'm Havington with Candace.
But I heard so many songs last week that made me think of you like the I'm a
Creep song from the 90s.
Yeah, I used to play it in the car.
Dave Chappelle sang it with the Foo Fighters at Madison Square Gardens.
They opened Madison Square Gardens on Sunday night and Dave Chappelle got on
stage.
I was with Dave the night before on Saturday night because and that was the
opening of Radio City Music Hall for his documentary.
Which was we were which is about comedy camp.
And that was pretty wonderful.
And I went there to try to keep my sanity.
But he sang Creep.
It's one of his favorite songs.
And what else were you thinking of?
What other music?
I don't know what I heard, but it was all those songs that we would listen to
in the 90s, like before the show or in your car.
I'm a loser by Beck.
I'm a loser.
Yes.
Yes, that's the other one.
There were a lot of them.
There was a lot of them.
Oh, even just the Indiana Jones.
Was it Indiana Jones?
Yeah, I would pretend I was cutting my chest open like a cereal box when we
were young and had the little mini cereal boxes.
And I would sing and I would just take out it was we called it.
These are inside jokes, people.
This is what we would do to play.
This is what went on during Full House in between doing the lines.
And they would go, Bob, we need you on the set.
And I go, wait, I'm not done.
And it was Raiders of the Lost Guts.
And the premise is I pull all my guts out and then I I lasso things and then I
swing across the ravine.
But I realized that I don't have any guts anymore.
So I just die at the end of the bit.
So it's it's really not worth having told people, but I'm not editing it out.
It's so worth it.
It's it's just the visual.
It would get us rolling like we would laugh every time.
Like that never got old ever.
And some of your jokes did get old, but that one never got old.
Yeah, they did.
Well, Dave's did, too.
Dave would always do the same jokes, but he was so funny.
Oh, so funny.
So funny.
I think that's why the show worked.
Now, you came in not the first year.
I did five episodes season one.
See what a good memory I have.
And then built up.
And then, well, Laurie, because Laurie came in season two.
Right.
I came in season one, but I only did five episodes.
And then it just built.
You know, I did more and more until I was finally a regular.
I don't know what season five or something.
But yeah, I was there.
Not the pilot.
But I did like the third episode or something.
I don't remember.
I was 10.
Yeah, I don't remember.
I was 30.
No way.
I was 30 years old.
And I had DJ was nine.
So that means that my deceased wife, Pam, and I, the premise of Full House, I
was 21 when we had conceived.
Conceived, right.
I can say conceived because you're 45 years old.
So.
44 for two more weeks.
Don't forget my birthday.
Don't forget to text me.
I just looked it up.
That's what my research does for me.
What's great about the podcast is I always go, so you weren't on the first
season.
No, I did five.
So you're, you're 45, I'm 44.
My stats are, they're, I'm a.
You're close.
You're like truth adjacent.
Like you're almost right.
Thank you.
Truth adjacent.
So in your book, do you talk about the stuff that we all did that, was it
mostly your experience
through your eyes?
I read some of it.
I did.
I apologize for not reading the whole thing.
I didn't read my own book.
Right.
Well, your wife read, your wife read my book.
So that's all, you know, she told me she loves you.
She read it in like a day.
Like she's awesome.
I love Kelly.
She really is great.
And I got the cliff notes.
Yeah, I think she read you the parts where I talked about you and I like, they're
all very
flattering.
Like I think you were very flattered and honored that I, I said fairly nice
things about you
and I meant all of them.
You didn't lie.
Why would I lie?
It's a memoir.
Like it's supposed to be an honest look at my childhood.
Um, from my perspective.
And so I put some of the inside, like the funny, the funny bits from my
perspective and
none of it, none of it ever, in my opinion, crossed the line, at least when I
was on set,
like it never, it was just silly.
It was just humor and none of it was ever inappropriate or over the line,
especially when the kids were
around.
Um, I just have funny little, funny little anecdotes, but I don't know if it
was you or Dave.
Um, but some crazy fan was being stalkerish with John and it was like kind of
tense and weird.
And suddenly we had like metal detectors on the set and like, there was a lot
of tension, but right before we were going out for intros to be introduced to
the audience, you know, John's like making the sign of the cross and everything.
And I don't know if it was you or Dave who leaned over to him and said, can I
have your parking
space?
Oh, that was me.
That was you.
Okay.
See you, bless you.
Yeah.
Cause we thought his life was in danger.
So I, I thought that if I had his parking space, my life would get a little
better.
Well, it was, it was great.
It broke the tension.
It broke the ice.
It was just a funny, and then we went on and had a great show and everything
was awesome.
So it was silly stuff like that.
And John and I were so close too, but not as close as Dave and I were.
And then a few years in, it changed and John and I, I mean, I'm brothers with
both of them.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
You guys are so close.
It's a, it's a beautiful thing to witness and to be a part of it.
Um, yeah, no, I just, I love you guys.
I have such, such good memories from the set and, uh, yeah, just, you guys were
just, you
were great.
You were dad figures.
You were funny.
Like we always felt taken care of as kids.
Like it was just like, that's how I, I attribute the success of Fuller house to
you guys.
Cause you guys are, you taught us how to, what a family set is like, what, you
know, a loving
set where you care about each other.
You you're funny, you do good work and then you go home.
And that's where we learned it.
Like we learned all those leadership skills from you being the leads of the
show and making
it a family environment.
Like it's all because of you guys that it's trickled dow
