Ep 497 - Jam The Brakes (feat. Sal Vulcano & Luis J. Gomez)

the wild wild west but also adam sorry no you're fine you're good doing the
podcast talking well
i was gonna say adam sandler like i was thinking about this like i mean like
his characters like
if you ran into like uh billy madison in real life and he's like whoa get the
away from me weird like there's such hateable characters like ace ventura yeah
yeah that would suck to do that and just bomb to come onto a set and be like
no what the are you doing not for billy madison the first one before it got big
nobody looked at him
the way they look at him now so he was like on set being like and then they'd
go eat and they're like
i hope this works for this guy because he's just walking around like that
kicked in the head he's
taking some chances out there he's like real actors that have been like
training their whole lives
acted that way dude get this guy away from us dude this sucks dude what is he
he's always on
but it's so compelling dude you can't take your eyes off it's the best guy i
don't know
it don't bet it yeah i like it in water where he's like uh coach not not not
only what i do
for you but but but yes i'll do it for you waterboy might be my number one dude
yeah he for real
turn down classics yeah it's tough i'll tell you one i didn't complete uh
little nicky i was young
when that came out again yeah i was obsessed with the first time i do
appreciate it it's awesome
i gotta give it a rewatch oh it's so first time i was like okay silly second
time this might be the
funniest movie i've ever seen really little nicky the second time i watched it
i was like this is the
funniest movie really oh now now you got me curious who was it that just bill
walton just died and was
it you america that was like oh the guy from little nicky yeah that's how you
know bill
him going i'm from the deep south
that's how i felt about freddie got fingered
pretty got figures awesome yeah when i first saw it i was like yeah and then i
watched it again
i'm like yo this is the funny it's crazy napoleon dynamite did that first time
i saw napoleon
dynamite i just walked out like what the was that i watched it again i'm like
this is a masterpiece
i watched that so many times dude chip is the funniest thing though
hell yeah la fonda your mom goes to college
what's the movie he did uh about the guy who steals the story
he like writes a story and the writer steals it it's like where they act the
fantasy story out
itself as they're like changing the drafts the point the guys who did napoleon
dynamite
it's called um dude i think you showed it to me where they're on like a
different planet and they're
like there's like rockets going off and the one guy because the car he makes
the character gay or
something i have no idea oh my god i you're gonna i'm telling you if you saw it
you know it but
either way i don't really know him after that i just saw him in that ice
skating movie will
fall and then i never saw him again no he was in uh bench warmers oh yeah bench
warmers was good
yeah bench warmers yeah anyway what's going on fellas i've checked out on that
i've never seen
any of the movies you just read not one james never saw napoleon you'll get
into silly comedies
with james no he's you know it's not a pole in dynamite no i never saw it that's
worth that's
worth watching never saw natural libre just watched it not sure i have that anaconda
squares
is that where you got that i have that luchador mask because when i bought the
dvd it came with it
really and i use it often to like hide my face really yeah i'm not joking like
when i was going
into restaurants i just throw it on no like i went to like uh uh new orleans uh
what's mardi gras yeah
did walk in the streets with that thing on it was amazing the luchador that's
not bad yeah that's fun
damn did you get a bunch of tits in your face with that thing on uh not that i
recall specifically
tough to resist the luchador i didn't walk around oh my god some luchador truly
an alpha
yeah that's kind of nice pop it on how to feel just to walk around and it feels
good the eyes were a
little tight so like they were like cut me off like right here and right here
so it felt a little bit
whatever but it has a hole so i was able to drink through a straw and uh you
know you also feel
you take on a new persona this is a gift mask it's a mexican yeah you put it on
and you feel like you
people accept you in that context so you just walk around this mask and people
don't look at you weird
it's just like you feel like what i can get away with some stuff yes yeah it
made me feel like a real
latino yeah it made me feel my roots yeah yeah yeah was it freeing to
completely just conceal your
identity and walk around honestly that's why every single halloween in new york
they have that village
parade it's like the biggest holland parade in the i guess united states every
year i go in full i i
get like fully anonymous and i just go and run around the streets that's
awesome
that was a great moment
not again not again
how does it feel you have to constantly censor yourself you
feels pretty good
fuck man we do we get we get like a sign-up sheet i used to work at this bar we
get a sign-up sheet
pick one costume and everybody was responsible for buying it so like we would
do like we did like
gumby or the state puff marshmallow or just chickens and then we'd go we'd meet
at the bar
take the ferry over and there's like 50 gummies and then we just you're allowed
to go in the if you
wait online you're allowed to go in the parade it's just anyone can go in it so
we'd go in there's
like 50 how long is that parade that was that how long is the parade to walk it
yeah um i don't know
like like you go slow because there's all the floats and everything so you take
a good like 90
minutes or something like that it's awful no offense the parade is just a
goddamn nightmare dude new
york city on halloween oh if you dress up and go do you participate doggy no it's
the best thing ever
first moved to new york city i would go like oh east village or the uh the west
village parade it's
the biggest thing ever dude trying to get a uber home at the end of the night
but you're talking
about getting an uber home you said the parade sucks you're talking about
celebrating yeah but
the juice isn't worth the squeeze is what i'm saying dude trying to get home at
the end of the night if
that parade is awful you ever go to the puerto rican parade uh i was invited to
perform at the
puerto rican day parade one time really and i was like you guys just you don't
know what i am
at all invited to perform it why did you why didn't you do it on a float they
were gonna have me do my
jokes do stand up on a float and i decided not to now i'm an idiot because i'm
like because at that
time i was going no dude that's not what i do but now i'm like i'm a fool i
should have just done my
fucking weird for a fucking 20 bucks on the float how the hookers are going to
hear the setup of the
joke that's how you judge your parades like how easy it is to get an uber after
yeah i'm a little
parental parade so that's it i'm kind of i'm with you i don't go to them a lot
but i feel like if you
did get into the fest if you're with 50 other gummies it's a it's an amazing
experience yeah that's
kind of cool take over we're really drawing a line here amazing parade suck
there's not a single
good parade yeah i don't think i went to another single good parade my son
wanted to go to a parade
it's june you're going to say there's not a single good there are some good parades
you think the pride
parade is good they just got stopped by the palestinian marchers really palestinian
there was a
palestinian uh protest that blocked the pride parade in philly and they can't
they're like stop you
guys are done you got to turn around the pride parade was like get out of the
way you're watching
the whole interaction like what the has happened to our city this is crazy yeah
the palestine yeah
they started the free palestine guys were like turn around get out of here
weird stuff in a gumby
suit you walk right past that's what i'm saying that's what i'm saying that
would be the grand
unifier gummy suit will work in any parade honestly you should have got wheelie
shoes so you could
i had them you want to try them you want them so bad no i tried them and uh
they're not that easy
to do i was going to ask you are they easy or tough no i never really fully i
never did it put it this
way i gave them away i never got good enough to look like to look like that
little kid that's coasting
down the street yeah those flying by i haven't even seen those kids do it once
you get it you get it
you don't yeah it's like driving stick have you you strike me as a wheelie's
guy or healy's no i never
had healy's obviously i rollerbladed you guys know that yeah yeah but i feel
like if you can
rollerblade you're sort of just you're sort of in the groove yeah it's kind of
it has a wheelie
vibe i want to get some soaps what are summer soaps they're the shoes that had
a grind plate so you
could jump on when they grind soaps are sick oh so they act as like a shatter
your collarbone in front
of your kids in high school that would grind the chalkboard the teacher you
just run out of class
and pretty tight i didn't i've never heard of soaps soaps are net soaps yeah
they were like it was for
like rollerblades yeah actually like you were sort of doing rollerblade tricks
with your sneakers yeah
oh i should get those that's a great idea soaps wheelie soaps rollerblades
basically
so you probably still get some soaps i mean you can probably make them pretty
easily if you just slide
like a plastic plate and install your shoe grind whatever you want i don't
think you can make them
pretty easily i gotta be honest what would you rather do grind or get air if
you're on blades on
blades yeah if i could grind out grind grind for sure you have well you need to
be able to get a
little air to i can't get air or grind you but i would like to grind you would
grind before getting
air how much air are we talking i tried to grind how i mean as much air as you
like you can fantasize
about that's a horse of a different color so yeah i know but i mean talking
about i'm talking about
like a eight inch rail how long is this how long is this grind are people going
to notice eight foot
yeah people you got a 180 onto the rail 180 off and i can do that i'm capable
yeah you can do that
yeah but grinding is just sliding a little bit it's not that fantastic jumping
dude no it's pretty cool
i want air i'd say you're an air hulk i like air with maybe a little grind on
the code no dude grind
down the subway at the subway on the thing dude come on man shoot right into
the subway yeah but what
if you just jump down all the steps well how about this i used to jump steps i
used to ride down steps
like dude like i used to be pretty good dude really i i wasn't good at because
i were like a streets of
rage character like 96. was that movie airborne is that the rollerblading movie
i know what you're
talking about i love that there's a rollerblading movie called airborne i don't
know if it's called
air is it everyone's called airborne i think it is at the end what is it the
one where they race down
the city streets yeah yeah yeah and i remember like they didn't do real like
tricks but that was the
that was like my influence yeah so i could like do do downstairs i i couldn't
grind but i could jump a
couple steps that's awesome so you're saying air over grinding i'd take
grinding i could never grind
i tried no no i had rollerblade lightings what if you're capable which you you
weren't allowed you
couldn't grind with them they weren't uh you'd have grind plates yeah were you
aggressive inline blader
but i'd try anyway i try to do with like my fucking my dad growing on your
wheels
it never worked no one time didn't work no you take out one of the wheels yeah
yeah you do you can you
you can it starts to we got to fire that genre movie back up just l
