I flew with him randomly twice, just randomly, right next to him, totally,
total dumb luck,
crazy, on two separate occasions, Norm sat right next to me, and he's like, ah,
I can't believe
this is happening again, yeah, the last one was hilarious, we have this long
conversation,
we're having a great old time, and he's telling me, yeah, I quit smoking, I don't
like to smoke
anymore, it's just terrible, it's so hard to quit, but I'm glad I did, we land,
and he immediately
walks right into a gift shop and buys cigarettes, and he goes, I changed my
mind, I want to
start smoking again, and he's lighting before he gets out the door, I mean, he's
so impulsive,
he's like, lighting as he's walking towards the door, I'm like, whoa, like,
Norm, what are you
doing, he goes, yeah, I guess I smoke again, but that's, you know, there's
people out there
that are, like, pretending to be wacky, right, right, he's really wacky, I love
those people,
there's so, there's so few of them, who just themselves, like, no matter what,
yeah, just,
that's who Norm is, he's great, he's so funny, I have a great story about Norm,
me and him
on a plane, and randomly, this is crazy, but true, randomly, twice, I sat next
to him on
planes, just randomly, oh, wow, yeah, totally randomly, like, what's up, Norm,
what's up,
Norm, like, crazy, this is happening again, and both times, it was a blast, but
one time,
we're flying back, and he's like, yeah, I used to smoke, and I had to give it
up, it's fucking
terrible for you, but I, sometimes I miss it, but glad I quit, I'm like, how,
you know, how long has
it been, he's telling me all these months, he stopped smoking, this, now we're
talking, as soon
as he lands, he walks right into the fucking store, buys a carton of cigarettes,
and he's opening
this cigarette, he's alighting it before he gets out the door, and I go, what
are you doing, he goes,
oh, that talk about smoking, I had to have one, and the flight from, I forget
where we even
were, two times, both times were just, like, the best flights, like, just, like,
having
an audience of one next to one of the greatest comics ever, and just be able to
talk shit,
completely randomly, two times in my life, I sat next to him on a plane, just
totally random,
remember that Vancouver, ransom at the airport, yep, once in Vancouver, and
once somewhere
else, and the last one, he was talking about, yeah, I quit smoking, and he's
telling me how
he quit smoking, yeah, it was hard, it was really hard to quit, and I did it,
and you know,
fucking, smoking's terrible for you, so we land, he walks as fast as he can off
the plane,
right into one of those stores, and buys a pack of cigarettes, and he's opening
up, and
he's got one in his mouth as he's out the door, he went off for an hour about
how it's
terrible for you, he's so glad he's out over it, so I'm outside with him, I go,
what are
you doing, I thought you quit smoking, he goes, yeah, but all that fucking
talking
about it, I wanted a cigarette, so was he being funny, or was he just a weirdo,
no, no,
no, he was just a genius, didn't drive, right, didn't drive, just invited
people to go do
tennis and stuff, so he'd be like, pick me up on the way, his brain was just
wired different,
yeah, it was just wired different, all the time, but like, he just decided, wow,
let's
smoke, and just, I mean, he couldn't light it quick enough, on the way out the
door, I
randomly wound up sitting next to him on planes, twice, on two different
occasions, just like,
I go, norm, like, out of nowhere, and he's sitting next to me, and one time, he's,
we're
sitting there, we're talking, we're having a good old time, and then he's
talking about,
oh, I quit smoking, he's telling me how he quit smoking, and fucking, yeah,
finally quit
smoking, and he's telling me all these things, and then when he lands, he
literally, like,
you can't stop him, so, runs into the airport store and buys cigarettes, and he's
lighting
it as he's leaving, I go, I thought you quit, he goes, I did, but all that
talking about
smoking makes me want one, and he's, like, before he even got out the door, he's
lighting
the cigarette, he just couldn't stop himself, but like, he goes, all that
talking, he's
the one talking about it, all that talking, he always puts it on you, that's
what's great
about it, but it was, he's like, this guy, he talks about smoking, he got me
back smoking,
but it was so crazy, because I was like, that's great, Norm, it's so great, you
quit, and he's
like, fuck, I want to sing it, well, good to be here, eh, I quit smoking, you
ever try
to do that, man, that's a tough thing, eh, do you think this is to be a funny
thing,
or do you really have to kind of feel, no, I feel that I have an oral fixation,
you know
about that.
