He passed away, I believe, the day before Yom Kippur, and the Yom Kippur
services started,
and I'd been watching a bunch of old Norm MacDonald videos, and as the rabbi
began to
speak, I started remembering Norm MacDonald punchlines, and it really went
poorly for
me that Yom Kippur evening.
Finally, folks, next week, Jews everywhere will be celebrating the holiday of Yom
Kippur,
or as non-Jews refer to it, Wednesday.
The rabbi was standing maybe 15 feet in front of me, and I was just struggling
not to hysterically
laugh in the middle of the most solemn day of the year, so that's going to be
my Norm MacDonald
memory going forward.
My family comes from Russia.
They're Russian Jews.
Russian at Jews is more like it.
One of the biggest anti-Semites I've ever met.
Russian away from Jews.
I had a bar mitzvah.
What?
I had a bar mitzvah, Norm.
Yeah.
You did?
Yeah.
Wait, are you Jewish?
Yes.
Get the fuck out of here.
No, no, I'm kidding.
I love the Jewish people.
Last week on Larry King Live, Marlon Brando made the shocking statement that
Hollywood
is, quote, run by Jews.
In response, outraged Jewish organizations made it snow in New York in April.
Well, earlier this week, actor Marlon Brando met with Jewish leaders to
apologize for comments
he made on Larry King Live, among them that, quote, Hollywood is run by Jews.
While in England, where he spoke at Oxford University, Simpson had defended
actor Marlon Brando's criticism
of Hollywood Jews.
Later, from his island hideaway, Brando sent OJ a telegram which read, you're
not helping.
In Cincinnati, is Cincinnati Reds owner Marge shot an anti-Semi?
My, well, it is beginning to look that way.
According to a report out today, on the entire Cincinnati Reds team, there is
not one Jewish
player.
A group of Orthodox rabbis declared that other branches of Judaism are, quote,
not Judaism
at all, thus challenging the religious status of millions of American Jews.
This week, that statement was rejected by Reform leader Rabbi Don Schoenstein,
who said, quote,
quote, our legitimacy as Jews flows from the richness of our Jewish lives, the
strength of our Jewish
communities, and most important of all, our deep and abiding belief in Jesus
Christ.
The set-up of the joke is it's a Jew joke.
Okay.
Two, um, Gentile businessmen meet on the street.
One of them says, how's business?
The other one says, great.
See, he gets it.
He really got it.
He really liked it.
Yeah, yeah.
So the joke is about who doesn't get it.
He's Jewish, he gets it.
You're not, you don't.
But I don't believe he got it.
Oh, yeah, he got it.
Can we find out?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Tell Norm why that's funny.
Because it's two Jews and they're, how's business?
Great.
Well, that's what he said.
No, it's two Gentile businessmen.
Oh, yeah, I don't think it's a joke.
That's what's funny about it.
I knew he didn't get it.
I can spot fake glasses.
I can spot fake glasses.
I can spot fake glasses.
