Theo Von on Opie Radio w/ Chris Distefano & Danny McBride

All right, listen, we got a big star on the line.
You look horrible.
We got big stars in studio, too.
You're a nice guy, though, but you don't look that great.
I love it.
What a way to start.
Oh, my God.
All right, listen, we got to say hi.
We got a lot of stuff in the Warners thing.
Yeah, we got a lot done already, but I got Danny McBride on the line.
You do?
Yeah, fuck yeah, I do.
He's my fucking legend.
Hey, Danny McBride, how are you, sir?
Oh, what a...
Oh, wait a minute, now Sherrod walks in.
Hold on, young glory, nigga.
All right, a black guy just came in, so it's going to be a second to simmer
down.
Reset.
Minorities are here.
Yeah, brother.
Usually the...
He's got on five hats.
He's got on...
Yeah, he's got on five hats.
Hold on, hold on.
Danny McBride's on the phone, Sherrod, okay?
Danny McBride's on.
All right, what's up, Danny?
Hi, Danny, sorry.
What's going on?
I now do radio with a lot of my friends, so it's just a whole bunch of nonsense
in here.
I'm actually a professional comedian.
My name's Chris Estefano.
I'm not one of his friends.
How are you, Danny McBride?
Danny McBride, me, I'm doing great today.
You're doing wonderful.
Sitting here talking to you guys.
Nice.
Haven't had lunch yet.
Ready to party.
What are you going to eat?
Yeah, what are you going to eat?
He's right.
I just had a fucking Moroccan lentil soup.
How about you let him answer the question?
Sorry about that, sorry.
Before you make it about yourself.
He's a professional comedian.
A fucking Moroccan lentil soup sounds delicious.
Get that on a t-shirt, son.
Dude, I'm on this new adult lesbian diet, dude.
It's hearty, bro.
It's hearty?
Oh, yeah, it's very hearty, dude.
What's on the menu for that?
Mostly meat.
A lot of just some angry, a lot of brittle.
All right.
A lot of brittle.
I wouldn't think meat would be on a lesbian diet.
Oh, they're dark.
They eat meat in the dark.
Well, they eat roast beef.
They eat like a roast beef.
Some of them eat meat in the dark.
I got in the heart of a lesbian.
My father told me that before he passed.
But anyway, back to you, Danny.
Before he passed.
He did die, dude.
That was delicious.
Sorry, Danny.
We're interrupting your lunch.
Yeah, we usually start off with a lot of energy, so it's kind of the worst time
to take a phone
call from a big star in LA.
I want to break it down.
Danny, I got to tell you.
So everyone told me about Vice Principal, and I blew it off for whatever reason,
because
I got kids and a radio show, blah, blah, blah.
And then you were supposed to call in about a week or two ago, so I binge
watched it.
I was like, fuck, I got to get this show done.
Yeah.
And I loved it.
Yep.
But I'm a little late to the party, but I'm glad I watched every single episode.
And the season finale, wow.
Amazing.
You saw Vice Principal?
I didn't see it, but I'm a big Eastbound and Down fan, and I loved his
character in the
movie about the end of the earth, when he just plays a fucking psycho.
I love that.
He almost stole that movie.
He did steal that movie.
Not almost.
He did.
He's the fucking man.
Well, I was being polite, because I know a few of the other guys in that movie.
I want to be the Brooklyn Danny McBride.
Yeah.
My goal.
So when we're talking about Vice Principal, and you said, yeah, it was amazing.
He didn't watch it.
You were just making believe.
I was saying, I was just, I thought, I was talking about Danny McBride.
You tried to piggyback.
You tried to piggyback the last month.
He's down and down.
I came through with pure honesty, son, about my feelings, about DMACC.
Whatever, dude.
Y'all ain't shit, bro.
Yeah.
Danny McBride, you should teach karate to trouble kids.
Go get your fucking look like you just got your shit cut at Supercuts.
It's like a number seven at the Lemon Tree.
Lemon Tree!
Motherfucker!
You got the haircut on a lesbian.
All right, listen.
Dude, you look like you look done.
You look like you got your shit cut at Lucille Roberts, Holmes.
You look Dutch, dude.
All right, listen.
You look aerodynamic, you creep.
Danny, obviously we didn't need you to call the show today.
You are a creep.
Sorry, Danny.
I'm sorry about that.
Let's get a couple minutes with Danny McBride.
Fucking Sherrod smells like a misdemeanor.
Yeah, came in with it.
We're all fans.
I'm ready, baby.
Danny McBride.
We're all fans of Danny McBride.
I've known him forever.
I love Danny McBride.
Love him.
When is the second season of Vice Principals coming around, first of all?
The second season is done.
You know, we've got both of those at once.
Wow.
Really?
That way, if people hated it, they would have no choice but to have to see the
rest of it
because it was finished and they couldn't change their minds.
Oh, yeah.
So, it comes out, I'm thinking it's going to be later this year.
I don't know if it's this summer or this fall, but, yeah, it's all done.
It's ready to be seen.
Yeah, we're excited about it.
I mean, the second season is pretty nuts.
Yeah, I mean, we're just kind of getting warmed up with that first one.
Well, I love the first season, and it ends with you on the ground with your car
on fire.
So, obviously, you know, obviously you're alive.
We just got to – I guess the second season starts with you in the hospital,
and then it's all about trying to figure out –
You'll have to see.
What happens?
It starts in outer space.
Do you guys tap into a lot of that?
I know there's a huge market now for, like, teachers that are dating students
and stuff.
Does that hit any of the episodes?
We stayed away from it, you know.
You did?
That's such an important thing to us.
You know, we didn't want to trivialize it.
Yeah.
And who was your vice principal growing up, Danny?
I'm curious.
Never met him once.
I can't remember his name.
What?
Her name.
I ain't fucking lost.
We had Raleigh Coleman, dude.
This brother had the most beautiful afro with the J curl off the back.
Why do you kind of, like, point to me when you say it's a black dude?
It's a black dude, huh?
Because you kind of leaned to me when you said it.
He's looking for the thumbs up.
You leaned over.
You want some community support on this fucking comment?
How would you know the name of your –
I made an SJW this fucking comment?
How would you know the name of your vice principal, Raleigh Coleman?
Yeah, you're going to get in trouble to get to know that.
That's crazy.
That's why the show's so good.
Raleigh Coleman is a good last name.
That's a good name, though.
He had speakers in his trunk, too.
The dude was dope as hell.
Our principal name was Mr. Coleman.
I don't know his first name in middle school.
That's what I'm saying.
Beautiful man.
Beautiful man.
Beautiful man.
But anyway, back to Danny, please.
Yeah, Danny, how was it acting with Walton Goggins?
My God, is he a great actor.
He is, man.
He's nuts, man.
He's awesome.
I've always liked him in everything I saw him in.
And when we wrote this, we didn't want to get somebody who was just like who
you had seen
really funny before.
We wanted to kind of, Walton just seems kind of dangerous and evil.
And so, yeah, he went to the top of the list.
Hell yeah.
Dark artist.
Fuck you, DiJango.
That motherfucker's hilarious.
He's great.
He's obviously the other vice principal as these two guys try to become the
principal
of the high school.
So, I guess it's out on DVD right now.
That's why you're calling to promote that, right?
I think it's out.
But do people even buy DVDs?
I don't know.
God, no.
I do.
I'll buy it, dude.
I buy it from the Korean ladies in the barbershop that comes to on Staten
Island.
They do.
They sell that for a dollar.
Now, I haven't seen it yet.
Is it kind of like, have you guys seen Lean on Me?
Is it like that at all?
What?
It is like that if you were rooting for the people against the principal.
Right, exactly.
It's a Morgan Freeman classic.
Yeah, it's a good one.
You smoke crack, don't you?
The show has a taste of Bill Murray in the beginning.
Oh, wow.
A little taste.
He's the principal, and he's leaving, and then these guys are trying to become
the man.
Okay.
And then they do a left turn, and they get a principal from Philly.
A sassy female.
Ooh.
Black lady.
Ooh.
She was a beautiful woman.
Give him a run for the money.
That's right.
Beautiful lady.
Raleigh Coleman.
Raleigh Coleman, boy.
Thank you.
Forgot the name.
Yo, Danny, I thought you were legit in the Heartbreak Kid, too.
I fucking thought that movie was...
I know it's an old school throwback, but that's when I first started fucking
with Danny McBride.
Yeah, but I thought you were great just as an adolescent in general, and just
as a young person.
So I'm even going way back.
Way deep.
As an adolescent in general.
I think your dick tastes funny.
That's awesome.
Well, that's crazy.
They're enjoying it, though, but I think it tastes funny.
You handled puberty well.
I think you handled puberty like a champ.
DMAC.
And then the other thing is, you're taking on the Halloween franchise.
What?
Oh, shit.
Who's Mike Myers?
Michael Myers, yeah.
What?
What?
This shit's real.
Isn't that weird?
Fuck your CBS, yo, Chris.
This guy's killing it.
Hell yeah.
Only as a writer, not as an actor.
I'm not going to play Michael Myers.
But, yeah, David Green, the other guy, he's the guy who directs the second
season of Vice Principal.
He's a guy I've known since college.
We've done Pineapple Express together and Your Highness.
And, yeah, we have a take.
And we were able to pitch John Carpenter how we wanted to kind of reboot
Halloween.
And he was into it.
So they're going to give us a shot at it.
I would imagine you're just going to flip that shit completely on its head,
right?
Fuck yeah.
Dancil.
You'll have to see.
Dude, I want to see y'all fight Thanksgiving, dude.
It's like a fight-off.
How cool is that, though?
That is great.
That's awesome.
Halloween versus Thanksgiving?
Yeah.
There you go.
Yeah.
At the showdown, everyone's been waiting for it.
Now I'm in.
No one else has seen Vice Principals?
I haven't seen it yet, but I haven't seen it.
It's so good.
No, it's on my list to watch, for sure.
And I was stupid.
Everyone told me how great the show is.
I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've never seen Eastbound and Down?
Of course I did.
That's the shit.
I've known Danny McBride forever.
How about I go back to Foot Fist Way?
Yeah, that was beautiful.
And that's when he taught karate, too, as well.
And my ex, they played Eastbound and Down at my cousin's funeral, too.
I want to let you know that, Danny.
I think they just had it on the background.
Somebody was watching it.
That's good.
That's some country shit.
Praise God.
Praise God.
Some white trans shit right there.
He had a portable TV on his dead chest.
I was going to say, praise God.
So it wasn't planned.
It just happened somebody was watching it on his phone.
There you go, Danny McBride.
They also watched The Family Feud.
Country niggas.
Country niggas.
That is perfect.
I'm Theo Vaughn, by the way.
And also, we have the same blood types.
If you ever need a donor, hit your boy up.
You know what I'm saying?
I'll ounce you through the mail, dog.
I will ounce you through the mail.
Hell yeah.
Praise God.
All right, wow.
Theo's funny as shit.
Yeah.
I love Danny McBride, dude.
Who doesn't?
He's fucking amazing.
He's incredible.
Are you on set still, Danny McBride?
I'm not on set.
I'm just sitting in my office and just enjoying this morning dick suck.
This is amazing.
You get a nice slurping.
Yes, sir.
Slurp fest.
Get the bitches these protein.
Cuffing those balls.
What's your sperm count, Danny?
I'm actually curious about this.
That shit is high.
You're about to find out.
You're about to taste the rate and get fucking chops.
Yeah, dude.
Light me up.
Oh, dude.
Spray on my back, dog.
Spray on my back.
You're about to find out.
Spray on my back, bro.
They said you were on set the other day.
He said he's not.
No, the other day when he was supposed to call in.
Now I'm just in the office today.
All right.
What does Danny McBride's office look like?
It's like a TGI Fridays and I'm lik
