With regard to the girls that you have in school in South Africa
and yourself and society and culture and generally,
what do you think about smoking weed?
Are you smoking?
Actually, no.
I haven't smoked weed in 30 years, really.
I remember when I lived in California, years and years and years ago,
and you could smoke an entire joint and then you'd say,
hmm, I'm kind of hungry, and that'd be it.
Yeah.
But now people tell me this stuff is one hit
and suddenly you're orbiting Neptune.
Really?
Yes, you're calling for you.
I'd be kind of scared of that.
I'd be scared of it, too.
If you had, in the old days.
No, I had to quit.
I tell you, I think I told you why I quit.
One night, I find myself standing in front of the freezer.
I ate two pints of ice cream.
And I just said, well, this can't be good for anyone.
For me, it was a sleep of Oreos.
It was a sleep of Oreos.
You ate the Oreos.
A sleep of Oreos, man.
You know, you're like, wow, I'm a little hungry.
But it makes you feel dumb, smoking the weed, you know?
Made me.
What do you think, boys?
Do people stop you on the street for selfies?
Not so much.
They stop me on the street.
But I know what you're talking about.
I've seen people.
It's annoying, isn't it?
You must...
Selfie hell.
Selfie hell.
I've been in selfie hell.
I was at an event the other night, and I literally...
Because the thing is, if you do one, everybody's watching to see if you're
going to do that one.
Right.
And then all of a sudden, all the phones come up.
And then I could see the exit, like right over there where John...
I could see the exit, but they're like...
I could say, wow, there's a couple of hundred selfies I've got to get through
before I get to that exit.
So this is the funniest thing.
We were doing Selma last year and doing a celebration on the Edmund Pettus
Bridge and John Legend.
How did that...
That must have been an amazingly emotional...
It was.
All of that.
Because we just celebrated.
It was the 60th anniversary.
50th anniversary.
50th anniversary.
So anyway, John Legend is singing on the bridge.
Glory, glory, common singing glory.
And there are thousands of us on the bridge.
And we're trying to...
After they finish the song, they're singing the song Glory at Sunset on the Edmund
Pettus Bridge.
Can you imagine that?
And then we all have to get off the bridge.
All right?
There are thousands of us going to...
And so we're like, Jim, you know, can't move.
And this woman's screaming.
She's on...
She goes, Oprah, I want a selfie.
I want a selfie.
And I said, I can't get a selfie.
Just take the picture.
And she goes, I don't want your picture.
I don't want your picture.
I don't want your picture.
I want me in the picture.
Yes.
That's the way it works.
That's what we've become.
No, you're not.
Do you know how to work it?
Well, let's find out.
I think we should.
We're good.
Yes.
I've got to turn it around.
For old time's sake, right?
For the good times.
It's too close.
It's too close.
Don't you want it there?
Okay.
You want it there.
Well, I'm barely in it.
Okay.
No, no, no.
You want it there?
Yeah, right there.
Okay, good.
No, you do it.
Yay.
Let's see.
Let's see.
For old time's sake.
Let's go.
Thank you, by the way.
Thank you.
Oh, look at this.
Yeah.
Oh, come on.
That's good.
Come on.
