how long have you worked here uh a little over three and a half years three and
a half years
been fun hasn't you've been on the show many many times you've traveled around
the country and what
do you do right now on the show i am the receptionist for the 14th floor okay
good things all right up
there there oh i'm sorry about that barry manilow travel club you were busy
today weren't you i was
it was crazy yeah i know well i learned my lesson um so now uh i don't know how
long ago it was we
we you know we're right in the middle of this neighborhood 53rd and broadway
and we got a lot
of a lot of merchants some big some small and uh bob and i were talking one day
about wouldn't it be
nice if we were able to give something back to these merchants and we came up
with the idea of
maybe supplying them with a slogan a little catchphrase that they might
introduce into every
transaction to make everybody feel you know special or happy or excited better
about their days that's
right better about their days and so bob was going to go around and kind of
show them how to incorporate
the catchphrase into each transaction and the catchphrase that we came up with
was uh next time
bring your sister you hump next time bring your sister you hump so you went out
i think you went
out one time right right all right we had pretty good luck with it here take a
look this is a little
of what happened when bob went out to kind of suggest how to use next time
bring your sister you hump here
take a look
there you go thank you very much thank you sir all right thank you next time
bring your sister you hump
just because my sister yeah why my sister just bring her in all right cool
thanks a lot man sure next
time uh bring your sister you hump
thank you very much all right do you know my sister no sir i don't didn't i
just bring her yeah
your hump
pretty good
all right that was great that was very funny but it uh it makes you a little
nervous because you just
don't know what's going to happen and i think that was that was part of the
reason why you said i i'd
really rather not do this again isn't right in your own words what were you
thinking then i was scared
and i didn't want to get beat up didn't want to get beat up right so we wanted
to continue the
program but bob and and you got to admire him for the courage to admit that on
network television
he said he'd rather not participate anymore okay so fine so then we decided
well who else can we have
do the next time bring your sister here here she is ladies and gentlemen please
say hello to scenic
designer kathleen anchors so you you saw you know what we wanted and uh were
you nervous about the
task no i liked it you enjoyed it very much all right okay so once again here
it is now kathleen
next time bring your sister you hump watch
and next time would you bring your sister you home
would you bring your sister your hump oh sorry thank you did i come at a bad
time
did i come at a bad time
and when we saw the tape we said well heck you know the job is kathleen's you
can have this gig full
time unfortunately the woman is very very very busy and we don't really seem to
be able to forge a
schedule that is compatible so she's not going to be able to do it all the time
we need somebody
for whom this is a full-time commitment of course nice job thank you very much
kathleen i appreciate
it uh so we decided to try one of our interns ladies and gentlemen here's fred
hexam how you doing
fred doing well you're actually an intern is that right that is correct now
this whole monica
lewinski scandal when you tell your friends that you're an intern they must
just just snicker at
you do they laugh at you have you taken a lot of ribbing i have how has the
internship beer been
here at the late show for you it's actually been great a positive uplifting
experience it has been
you attend college i do where do you go actually i just graduated from the
university of northern
iowa there you go ladies and gentlemen university of northern iowa
uh so because fred's an intern he has to do anything we tell him and we uh
we send him out the same deal next time bring your sister you humping and for
some reason i'll just
tell the folks in it and nothing to be embarrassed about by the way uh nothing
to be embarrassed about
it just didn't work just didn't work at all here here's fred the intern next
time bring your sister you
come on just thanks anyway good luck thanks for all your help okay
so we wanted to give it one more try uh here's the gentleman we selected george
clark building
engineer george we've known you for about six years you were here when we came
into the theater
building and and this is the man responsible for every aspect of running this
huge machine that is
the ed sullivan theater i try there there isn't anything going on technically
electrically mechanically
in this building that this man doesn't understand his head is is like a living
schematic is that right
i i think so yeah and and you do a nice job thank you yeah and from time to
time we've prevailed on
george to do a little uh thanks for us on the show and you knew all about the
next time bring your
sister you hump and you thought maybe this would be right up your alley huh i
figured it was something
you guys would probably do yeah yeah so so we said you would you give it a try
and said sure you'd be
happy to give it a try how did it go do you think didn't go well didn't go well
all right let's take
a look at the videotape here's george clark next time bring your sister you
