happy new year happy new year to you too man welcome to the show thank you
thank you it's
nice to finally meet you tell me uh we'll talk about other things tell me about
the movie grudge
match that's a pretty good gig right there tell me all about that film oh you
talking about my
movie i did with uh with sly and bobby yeah that's right that's sylvester stallone
robert
de niro we're on a nickname basis because of uh you know us doing the film you
know they call me
kev yeah yeah it's just a whole little friendship thing we got going on man me
sly bobby you know
we talk i saw him not too long ago i was like what's up sly what's up bobby
they was like what's up kev
and i was like nothing and uh that that's it that's that's really as far as i
go yeah yeah i'd like to
have been a fly on the wall for that but now uh i don't know i would be scared
silly to be in a movie
with those guys and and other actors i mean because in all fairness you're new
to the motion
picture deal right yeah i am i am but you know here's the thing about me dave
uh you know i wish
i i gotta give a nickname for you i'm probably call you dave dave davio that's
where i'm gonna go
davio davio i'm gonna tell my friends we're on a nickname basis too you're in
it right now me and you
we're in it i'm davio davio so you know going into it i am a new guy so it it
definitely is an
intimidating thing to go work with actors who are accomplices these guys were
but i want to be on my
job i want to go in i want to do my job so they say wow this kid's good so as
we're doing the job
my first scene is with me and sly you know that's what i call him davio right
so me and sly we
into it and i had to cuss at him and i was like oh you know i don't really know
how i'm gonna how
i'm gonna go about it but i said kev just let it fly because that's the type of
guy i am let it fly
let it so you know i i said y'all can bleep it i was like hey listen man and i
did this after i said it
yeah i didn't know i know i didn't know what he was gonna come back with right
he kept going with
the scene and immediately after we cut i called my dad and i was like dad you'll
never guess what
happened he said what i said i just cussed sylvester stallone out and and he
didn't hit me or nothing
he said what'd you say i said he said he said get him boy my dad was proud yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
true story davio now um i'm sorry i'm still getting used to my nickname davio
uh but uh now i i noticed you talk uh rapidly and quite a lot yes yes yes so
now when when
you're in a scene with another actor does that uh is that useful to them that
you talk that quickly
and that much or is that well well here's here's the thing davio you know you
you gotta understand
man the type of guy i am like i told you i just let it fly so me and alan arkin
right he's another
great actor alan arkin's an amazing actor one of the funniest guys i've ever
met but alan arkin's
getting old so and our scenes you know me and this is a true story actually me
and alan arkin had a
scene and i love to improv i love to go and find just let it fly to add things
let it fly let it fly
boy davio is a cool dude ain't it so so me and alan me and alan are in the
scene and alan goes listen
stop stop he goes to the director all i need is a space so i can just go uh-huh
okay yeah
because he just won't stop so i thought i thought i thought he was playing i
thought alan arkin was
joking right so i'm improv in one scene and i'm like look man i just don't know
what i'm gonna do
and he was like uh-huh all his responses was noises he gave me he gave me
nothing back yeah yeah
uh-uh and i was like are you gonna say your line he's like i don't know when i
have a chance to
i was like you're cool with me ali-o i call him ali-o ali-o ali-o you just add
an e-o
tell me about your uh you have two kids two two young kids how old are they uh
two beautiful kids
my daughter's eight heavenly heart and my son is six hendrix kevin hart how are
the holidays for you
guys holidays are amazing man i'm uh here's the thing davio i'm i'm what you
call a a great dad man i
love to be with my kids but i'm a fun dad you know i do a lot of kitty things
with my dad uh for instance
we we recently had a nerf gun fight over the holidays so basically what we do
is we went and
bought these nerf guns but the high-tech ones not the cheap stuff the ones that's
got some some kick to
it uh you know basically i'm preparing my kids for real life situations wow
yeah yeah so we're in the
house you know we split up we're on team so it's me and my girlfriend against
me and my kids
right i mean against my kids so we split up everybody go takes their places in
the house
everybody's got walkie-talkies my kids were smart they set me up uh my daughter
she pops out makes
a noise i go you're in trouble now heaven and i got my my little nerf gun i'm
about to get her
my son comes from around the corner cocked his nerf gun back bow shot me in the
eye here's the thing
here's the thing about getting shot in the eye everything stops uh all fun
stopped i immediately
shut the game down as soon as i got shot in the eye i said everybody give me
the nerf guns
right now yeah that's it go upstairs go to bed my eye was leaking water
it's not that they're dangerous it was just it was such a good shot and i don't
know if my son is
this good and if he is it's a problem for me in my house but the fact the fact
that he didn't laugh
afterwards he nodded yeah and i shut it down yeah i'd shut that down my
goodness goggles
maybe protective eyewear well you don't think to do that they're eight and six
years old i don't
expect them to have that type of accuracy no you're right you're right i wouldn't
either
um so the holidays we have a picture do you mind if we show the picture okay
this is
oh look at that yeah beautiful that's my babies that was uh that's onesie night
onesie night yeah
you know we have onesie night one day a week so i try to go find a bunch of
different kinds of onesies
and uh here's the thing davio yeah the reason why i go with onesies because i'm
small so i like to be in
one thing i don't like taking things off in pieces give me one piece my kids
feel the same way but we
zipped ourselves all the way up in that and we played a little game called
figure it out uh that
that game ended fast because my son fell down the steps i said i said don't go
that way he said i got
to figure it out i said all right wow i mean i mean you do these wonderful
things and then someone
always ends up getting hurt it seems like now that you said it like that it's
true it's very
true and i don't know if i should be saying this stuff on tv but it come to my
house and shut me
down you know i don't think anybody's coming to your house now listen uh um uh
kev
i felt you i felt you searching yeah yeah trying to think it was that the
nickname i'm going great
pleasure to meet you sir my pleasure to meet you too thank you very much davio
davio davio
