nice to see you again our next guest is a talented actor and uh one of the
stars of
the popular television series that the kids are all talking about that's seinfeld
and
this is her uh her first visit with us and we couldn't be happier uh please
welcome
julia louis dreyfus nice to see you thank you so much
first of all let me let me apologize to you because we're running desperately
late on time
and i want to give you the option of doing something because both of our first
guests
tonight each have given me the finger james khan in the wings gave me the
finger and david copperfield
kind of the two-handed gesture there if you would like to make it a thousand go
ahead
i'll leave it to the male guests they can do that i'm i'm i'm way
but at home when you're watching this on your own tv then you can give me the
finger and i will
i understand there is some kind of distant perhaps not so distant connection
between
you being on the show tonight and david copperfield both making your first
appearances here yes well
actually it's rather uncanny because today is wednesday and monday i went to
the doctors and
after my doctor's appointment i got in the elevator and doors closed went down
one floor doors opened in
walks the mailman okay delivering mail to this building doors close he looks at
me he says
do i have anything in my hand and i am like inching towards the alarm button
you know
and then he goes and pulls this red scarf out of nowhere just out of it
materializes that's right
and then he takes a red scarf and he sticks it in his ear and he pulls a cane
out of his head
yeah no kidding he really did and then he takes a dollar bill and this is all
you know going down
six flights of things takes a dollar bill goes like this i don't know what he
does and he turns it into
a 20. my goodness this is a u.s postal worker are you sure and then he says to
me look he goes where is
it he goes here's my card he goes and uh catch magic for all occasions jc dunn
that's right can you
imagine so he's a magician and a mailman that's right and then he says to me
catch the david copperfield
special next uh you know whenever it's on this is my elevator ride don't you
think that's well it is a
little weird yeah and i'd like to see david copperfield pull a cane out of his
head no way no
way no uh boy the the success of your show in addition to just being it must be
a great fun place
to go to work but the success of the show must be terribly gratifying for you
and also jerry and
everybody else on the program well yeah although the other day this woman i was
in this in the park
and this woman comes up to me and she says uh all right did anybody ever tell
you look like elaine
from seinfeld you hear that all the time don't you yeah and i said well yeah i've
heard that and she
says uh uh you know you you're actually a lot prettier than she is all right
and i said well thank
you very much yeah and then she says have you ever seen the show and i you know
i didn't want to get
into it so i said no i don't really watch television and she said well i don't
know what the fuss is all
bad i i think it's awful and so what he dropped her no no no no i just stay
right there if you don't
mind we have to do yet another commercial we'll be right back folks ladies and
gentlemen we've
had way too much fun we've been ordered off the air julia a great pleasure to
meet you continue
come back again if you can all right thanks also to david copperfield and james
conn we'll see you
tomorrow night thank you folks
world wide pants
