our next guest stars in the new james bond film tomorrow never dies which opens
on friday and
she's one of the world's most successful action film actresses here's the very
lovely michelle
cute is he he's a genius welcome to the uh program you know i saw the uh the james
bond uh uh movie a
couple of days ago you were terrific in the film thank you yeah uh where are
you from i'm from
malaysia wow hello malaysians that's unusual i don't i don't think we get a lot
of people from
malaysia i'll have to come back more often you'll get more malaysians coming to
your show
mention that you're from australia see what happens australia he's not worried
no he's asleep
um and is that where you began your film career i guess so right no actually
not i'm from malaysia
my family's still there uh i went on to england to study dance and wanted to be
a dancer i always
wanted to be a dancer ballerina choreographer i wanted to share my passion with
little kids and
have a school back in malaysia ballet ballet is as uh i know yeah i know
nothing about ballet but it's
terribly difficult isn't it i mean so it's very strenuous it's very hard on the
body it's uh constant
you know on the knees on the back and i had a little accident while i was doing
that so that i had a
rotated vertebrae and i continued to work on it and it got worse i was only
about 15 at that time what do
you know yeah i didn't know very much continued to rotate yeah yeah i'm kind of
i don't you know this
is this is in your in your this is in my lowest spot oh yeah so what do they do
so they manipulated it
and they sort of put it back but the specialist said that was uh the end of my
dancing career and
you must have been heartbroken as a kid then knowing that you saw my dream
shattered right in front of
my eyes it was so so i understand the the interest in in dance and uh so then
how do you decide you're
going to be like an action-advention hero hero what happened was um i was asked
to do a commercial in
hong kong i did and they offered me a film contract you know i was 21 and i
thought this is something i
have not done before be fun i was in hong kong it was a watch commercial with
jackie chan oh jackie
chan's been here many many times many times jackie chan is just i don't know uh
if you're familiar
with this expression jackie chan is nuts you're right i know him the guy's just
wacky he ain't looked
up right so to me it seems like the two of you get along did he that doesn't
mean i'm not hooked up
right no no i think you're fine believe me i have nothing but the highest
regard for you and your
rotating vertebrae but um but is he the the one that got you into this
particular genre pardon the
french there no actually he's a male chauvinistic pig he he always says that'll
sell tickets for him
on it no no no no no no no him jackie and i are very good friends i say this to
it you know to his face
you know he always believes that women should stay at home and cook and don't
do anything and be the
victim and da da da da except for michelle except for michelle now he said
because i would kick his butt
now he uh he does he prides himself in doing all of these uh very very uh
dangerous stunts and you
do and i do my own stunts and i'm sure that you've probably been injured doing
this kind of thing
unfortunately it is very physical and there are some risks that you take and uh
yes i've had dislocated
my shoulder ruptured an artery you know cracked my vertebrae cracked my ribs
but fortunately
no broken bones really yeah it's really good you know what happened to me a
couple of weeks ago
remember this paul getting ready for the show i burned myself on a hair dryer
oh
oh he's still got a blister there yeah yeah it's touch and go there for a while
uh well what was that what was the deal uh you know what was fun in that film
was that uh motorcycle
chase oh i got a kick out of that and tomorrow never if you have to be handcuffed
to someone pierce
rosnan is a pretty good choice yeah yeah now how much of that was actually you
guys on a motorcycle we
were on that bike for about two and a half months from the rooftops of bank
yeah it takes a long
you guys are really naughty anyway
but you are you now so when we see the bike in motion it's really the two of
you in motion on the bike oh
yeah we are we are in motion and i'm
well it is 007 come on yes we are in motion and um and sort of i'm going in
front of him behind him
come on clambering all over him and we're handcuffed together yeah it's very
entertaining
and and the end of the movie's sort of cute too sort of you know the two of you
two of us yeah
it's kind of cute i don't die i can always come back in the next one that's
right we had a lot of
fun between you and me i mean he's good all right you know he's uh i i think
the uh uh for me i
i think the best bond ever was uh johnny uh weissman i thought it was tarzan
all right i don't know
forget don't listen to the thing i'm saying tonight um but you know he's he's
like he's good but he's
a pretty boy i thought you were you're great i thought it was really you're
moving seriously oh
thank you actually when they first approached me to um two years ago when jeff
cleman said to me uh
you would be perfect in a bond film i turned around and said i get to play james
bond yeah you ought to
they ought to yeah they ought to think about that jamie jamie bond jamie bond i
got nothing but good
ideas um the the movie does this one open up on the christmas tour is it
tomorrow oh it opens up
tomorrow yeah well you must be very excited i hope it's a huge i am very
excited all right nice to see
you pleasure to meet you please come back michelle you know you
