Ladies and gentlemen, it's Friday night. It's the beginning of the big holiday
season.
Yesterday, of course, was Thanksgiving. We wanted to do something extra fun for
you folks here tonight.
So, all night long, right here on The Late Show, it's Physics Night.
Now, what does that mean? Well, I'll tell you what it means.
We will be dropping strange and peculiar objects out of the seventh floor of
the Ed Sullivan Theater Building.
Hal, don't we have a... Turn on the camera out there. There we go.
That's the lovely Ed Sullivan Theater Building. We're going up not to one, not
to two, not three, four, or five.
We're going all the way up to the seventh floor, and tonight's staff members
will be dropping stuff out.
Here we go. This lovely young woman is a CBS page by the name of Pam Dorian.
Hello, Pam. How are you? Hi, Dave. Did you have a nice holiday?
I had an awesome holiday. Thanks. Are you excited to be here for Physics Night?
I think it's awesome. I'm excited. Now, we want to point something out here.
In addition to it being awesome, we want to point out that this is not the kind
of thing folks should be doing anywhere.
But if you happen to have a TV show, then it's okay.
If you don't have a TV show, don't be doing it.
Because I'll find out where you are, and me and Tony, the cue card guy, will
come out to your house, and we'll just move in.
What do you think of that?
Okay, Pam.
All right. You're the first participant tonight in Physics Night.
You have there, I believe, it's an overinflated tire.
That's exactly what it is.
Be very, very careful. Here we go.
Okay.
The first object out the window tonight, here from the Ed Sullivan Theater
Building.
Anton.
An overinflated tire.
Oh, man.
Whoa!
I don't know.
That's pretty cool.
Here it is in slow motion, instant replay.
The overinflated tire.
Still got the sticker on it.
Whoa!
Man, that's it.
Jeez.
Hey.
Yes, kids.
Bring your mitts.
It's tire night.
Wow!
Hey, Linda.
That damn Dave's dropping tires out of the building.
All right.
Who's next up there on the seventh floor of the Ed Sullivan Theater Building?
Physics Night, all night long.
And remember, please, whatever you do, don't try this nonsense at home.
All right?
Hi, kids.
Hi.
This is my staff right here.
These are my lovely assistants.
That's Lori Diamond, and that's Mary Beth Holden, and that's Casey St. Onge.
Hi, girls.
Hi.
How are you?
Pretty good.
What are you going to drop tonight?
We're going to drop a safe on you.
A safe on a...
A safe on you.
Be very careful.
Here we go.
Out of the seventh floor.
All right.
All right.
I tell you what, a little later in the show, we'll reload, and we'll try that
again.
You know, that's not the first time they've missed.
All right.
All right.
We have time for one more here before our big commercial.
Who's next up there on the seventh floor?
What do we have here?
Oh, paint.
This is great.
We have Sheila Rogers, Mimi James, Gene Szymanski, and Ron Duffy.
Is that everybody up there?
That's right.
It doesn't.
Okay.
And it's just an assortment of paint.
Is that right?
Right.
I think so.
All right.
Here we go.
A load of paint going out of the building.
Stand by.
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
Hey, that almost hit me.
Okay.
Let's see that again.
We have time for slow motion instant replay of the big paint drop.
Here we go.
Cans and cans of chemtone.
Yes, sir.
Three.
Why?
Just like fireworks makes you proud to be an American.
It's physics night.
That's right.
We're dropping stuff out of the building.
And by the way, don't do this at home.
Even if you just live on the first floor, don't be trying this.
I don't want to hear about you folks pushing stuff off your porch.
What's next?
Turn on the camera, Hal.
Let's go back to the seventh floor of the Ed Sullivan Theater Building.
It's the guys.
It's the stagehands.
Gene, Ron, Greg, Tom.
What do you guys got there?
We got a pinball here.
We got a pinball machine.
Here we go.
All right.
Be very careful.
Pinball machine up the seventh floor window.
Live as you're looking at it now.
There it goes.
Looks like how I move.
That's funny.
That's funny.
Hardly did any damage at all.
You can still play this game.
You can still play this game.
Here we go.
Yes.
All together now.
Hilt.
Thank you.
Al, turn on the camera.
Let's go back outside to 53rd Street.
This is the seventh floor of the Ed Sullivan Theater Building.
This is Tom Ruprecht and Paula Chigarra's.
Hi, kids.
Hi, Dave.
What are you going to dump for us now?
A trash can full of Super Balls.
Oh, cool.
Here we go.
Anton, get ready.
Trash can full of Super Balls.
Out of the beautifully illuminated seventh floor window.
Yeah, my.
Wow.
Slow motion, instant replay.
Here we go.
That was beautiful.
This is like a piece of some kind of kinetic art here, isn't it?
Look at that.
Yeah.
And just a reminder, ladies and gentlemen, the cleanup is taken care of by your
tax dollars.
Okay, ladies and gentlemen, my thanks to the Black Crows, Jerry Van Dyke, and
everybody who helped us out with stupid human tricks.
Monday, John Lovitz, Luther Vandross, and Natalie Portman.
Now, for the big grand finale, let's go back out to 53rd Street, and we're
going to heave.
Oh, it's the big melon toss.
Here we go.
Anytime you kids are ready, out of the seventh floor of the Ed Sullivan Theater
Building, a variety of week-old melons.
There we go.
Down.
Oh, my God.
Whoa.
Have a great weekend.
Good night, everybody.
Good night.
